塔尔龙（属名：Tharosaurus，意为“塔尔沙漠的蜥蜴”）是来自印度中侏罗世杰伊瑟尔梅尔组（英语：Jaisalmer Formation）的一属已灭绝叉龙科蜥脚类恐龙。属下包含单一物种印度塔尔龙（T. indicus），所知于几节椎骨及肋骨。塔尔龙代表迄今已知最早的也是首个从印度描述的梁龙超科。[1]

发现与命名

塔尔龙正模标本RWR-241 (A–K)发现于印度西部拉贾斯坦邦杰伊瑟尔梅尔县Jethawai村附近杰伊瑟尔梅尔组（英语：Jaisalmer Formation）的沉积物中，由部分颈椎、背椎、尾椎及一根背肋组成。[1]

2023年，Bajpai等人根据此化石遗骸描述了叉龙科蜥脚类新属新种印度塔尔龙（Tharosaurus indicus）。属名取自发现正模标本的塔尔沙漠及希腊语sauros（蜥蜴），种名指标本发现于印度。[1]

分类

Bajpai等人（2023年）发现塔尔龙是种早期分化的叉龙科，表明该属代表了一个自印度进化而出并随后扩散到世界各地的谱系的遗存。塔尔龙是最古老的叉龙科，也是最古老的梁龙超科。系统发育分析结果如以下分支图所示：[1]

古生态学

杰伊瑟尔梅尔组代表印度特提斯洋海岸边的一处沉积层。该环境的其它恐龙包括一种大型兽脚类及一种图里亚龙类，两者均只有牙齿被发现。[2][3]地层中还发现了几种足迹化石。[4]
