Executive director of the Beijing LGBT Center

Hello! I noticed that the executive director of the Beijing LGBT Center, Xin Ying is currently redlinked. Do you have any idea if she seems like she'd meet WP:GNG based on sources in China? If not, I can remove the link. TJMSmith (talk) 02:45, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@TJMSmith: This is the kind of topic that does not tend to get a lot of coverage in Chinese media. I went to the official website and can't even find the name of its director listed there. So I doubt she'd meet WP:GNG. -Zanhe (talk) 04:02, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, excuse me for bothering you, but around over half a year ago this paper was freely available online, however, since sometime last year it has only become available to certain people. I originally planned on writing about Qing Dynasty coinages from the 1850's and later but had to postpone this because I wanted to document the history of Chinese banks before 1949. Unfortunately the only texts I preserved from this paper were the parts about banknotes, so I wanted to ask you if by any chance you had access to this paper? --Donald Trung (talk) 20:49, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable sources for Chinese articles

I've had some run-in with this user before, seems to be one of those naive youngsters who never read more balanced academic publications and are easily caught in sinophobic hysteria. He even thought an opinion piece by a junior political hack in the employment of a think tank represented "mainstream scholars" and that renowned scholars stop being reliable after they die [1]. Sigh. -Zanhe (talk) 22:01, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Please respect WP:NPA, "one of those naive youngsters who never read more balanced academic publications and are easily caught in sinophobic hysteria.” is deeply insulting and entirely uncalled for. Horse Eye Jack (talk) 23:09, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Entirely uncalled for? My comment stems from the ignorance you showed about scholarship on modern China in the recent RSN discussion, to which I provided a link above. Cheers, -Zanhe (talk) 00:44, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ARBIPA sanctions alert

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Hi Zanhe, I guess this alert is new to you. It is nothing to be alarmed about, but it just insists that the editors in IPA topics need to follow all the applicable policies, especially when they are explicitly pointed out to them. So, please make sure that you thoroughly understand the policies that I frequently refer to. Ignoring them can be cause for sanctions. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 10:32, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Zanhe:
My name is Kamrul. This is my first article on Wikipedia. I am now the new Wikipedia editor. I am bored sitting at home all day because the university is currently closed. So I thought let's do something. That's why I came to Wikipedia. I thought of writing the article "Iftekhar Rafsan" because I am one of his superfan. I don't know how successful I was in writing this article but I tried my best. If I have any mistakes, I have a request to correct them. Finally, my request was that the article be reviewed once. Thank you

Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice

Hi Zanhe, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.

Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.

To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!

Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)

A tag has been placed on Category:Chinese Academy of Engineering requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. You're being missed

I hope that you're doing well, perhaps knowing that you're (likely) in Mainland China I at first thought that you couldn't edit because of the Great Firewall of China (like Baomi), or perhaps you just chose to unceremoniously retire. Whatever happened, you were a great addition to Wikipedia and the encyclopedia is a lot less without your wonderful contributions. I most sincerely hope that you're healthy, safe, and happy. --Donald Trung (talk) 18:20, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

To any admin reading this page

If possible I would like to request the IP block exempt user right for Zanhe, in a similar case "User:Baomi" stopped editing at the same time, they initially said that they couldn't edit the English-language Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, this year I requested the IP block exemption right for them on Wikimedia Commons and now they can edit there again.

As both users edit from the People's Republic of China and both stopped editing at the same time I suspect that the reason why they stopped is likely the same as they probably both use a blocked VPN. I am not sure if by this time they have given up on returning to Wikipedia, but if possible I would still request this right for Zanhe in case that the reason why they can't edit is an IP block. --Donald Trung (talk) 20:42, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I enthusiastically second this request. Zanhe is much missed.ch (talk) 03:47, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Asahi Graph requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://camerapedia.fandom.com/wiki/Asahi_Graph. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

A tag has been placed on Genghis Khan Airport (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

The New Page Patroller's Barnstar

Here is a barnstar to show appreciation for the NPP reviews you did back in 2019. We realize this is late, but NPP fell behind in some coordination activities. We are almost caught up. If you don't want to receive "old" barnstars, please just ignore this and reply to let us know not to send you any more. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 07:18, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Women in Red 8th Anniversary

Women in Red 8th Anniversary
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! Join us for some virtual cake and add comments or memories and please keep on editing to close the gap!

Nomination of Ji (surname 蓟) for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Ji (surname 蓟), to which you have significantly contributed, is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or if it should be deleted.

The discussion will take place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ji (surname 蓟) until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

To customise your preferences for automated AfD notifications for articles to which you've significantly contributed (or to opt-out entirely), please visit the configuration page. Delivered by SDZeroBot (talk) 01:02, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The redirect ZSWU has been listed at redirects for discussion to determine whether its use and function meets the redirect guidelines. Anyone, including you, is welcome to comment on this redirect at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2024 September 25 § ZSWU until a consensus is reached. 1234qwer1234qwer4 23:01, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Eunwoo has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not seem to meet notability requirements at WP:BAND. Little to no coverage in independent reliable sources other than in coverage relating to her groups. Has been orange tagged for notability issues for 3 years. Recommend redirect to Pristin.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
