December greetings
Thank you for your ITN work! - Today, I have a special story to tell, of the works of a musician born 300 years ago. - I wish you a good festive season and a peaceful New Year! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:07, 22 December 2023 (UTC) I try to finish uploading images of 2023 before it ends, and reached 17 December. Happy to see Rebekka Habermas on the Main page, a last minute nomination of yesterday, and Heike Matthiesen, today's last minute. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:53, 29 December 2023 (UTC) Administrators' newsletter – January 2024News and updates for administrators from the past month (December 2023).

ARBPIA ITN questionDoes ARBPIA apply to ITN? i.e., is that IP comment qualified to be considered in determining consensus? Or does "broadly construed" mean non-ECs can't even vote in I-P ITN nominations? I noticed you removed my SPA note but I'm still wondering if as an IP it's still supposed to be struck. Undoing my edit to the talk page of ITNHey Stephen, I am Harvici, and I see that you reverted my edit on the talk page of ITN.Can you please tell me if I did something wrong? and I think that the G20 should be included in the ITN/R.Thanks Harvici (talk) 12:01, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
February music
Today I am happy about a singer on the Main page (at least for the first hours), after TFA the same day last year. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:12, 7 February 2024 (UTC) When I made today's story I was sure Alfred Grosser would appear on RD today, which may happen or not but I go to bed ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:20, 10 February 2024 (UTC) Thanks to Seiji Ozawa. - Now I'm hoping for Helga Paris, nominated last minute. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:12, 12 February 2024 (UTC) ... and now for Ladislav Burlas (11 Feb) - saw your name on my watchlist --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:12, 18 February 2024 (UTC) The image, taken on a cemetery last year after the funeral of a distant but dear family member, commemorates today, with thanks for their achievements, four subjects mentioned on the Main page and Vami_IV, a friend here. Listen to music by Tchaikovsky (an article where one of the four is pictured), sung by today's subject (whose performance on stage I enjoyed two days ago). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:51, 20 February 2024 (UTC) more music and flowers on Rossini's rare birthday --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:25, 29 February 2024 (UTC) thank you for bringing Gabriela Grillo to the Main page, on Smetana's 200th birthday - I wouldn't mind credit --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:42, 2 March 2024 (UTC) JOBTITLESMorning, hope you're well. President of Chile and Prime Minister of Pakistan are proper name job titles, so should be capitalised accordingly. This was raised at WP:ERRORS as it creates a weird inconsistency when we also have President of Ecuador on the same template. I don't see that the former part is relevant, it's still a named job title. Please could you self-revert, as I was responding to a specific point raised at ERRORS and we should present a consistent approach to readers. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 10:54, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

Swap pic for varietyHi Stephen! I appreciate swapping the pic for variety, but can I request instead of swapping one white man for another white man (best actor/best supporting actor), we go with either best actress Emma Stone or best supporting actress Da'Vine Joy Randolph (pics taken from the article)? Thanks for considering it, Levivich (talk) 01:27, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

Today I see Marian Anderson on the Main page, and made it my top story (by NBC, 1939). - Great to see you active: could you please check out Gerhard Lohfink, - nominated for ITNN, died 2 Apr? -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:33, 9 April 2024 (UTC) plum tree blossom for Kalevi Kiviniemi in the snow - see my talk --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:09, 11 April 2024 (UTC) relief: the last of six RD articles in one week is now on the Main page - yesterday I went to a great recital with many anti-war songs by Jewish composers whose music was banned by the Nazis. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:53, 18 April 2024 (UTC) News: Iranian embassy vs consulateHi Stephen, re. your change here[1], I'd ask you to read the lengthy discussions at Talk:Israeli_bombing_of_the_Iranian_embassy_in_Damascus. In short, there's no consensus to use the term "consulate", in fact there're strong arguments that the premises were not a consulate (not on an official list of consulates, not a separate compound, questions re. sourcing, etc.). Therefore, editors have settled on the term embassy per the majority of sources and since the building appeared part of the Iranian Embassy complex. May I expect you to self-revert? Cheers, — kashmīrī TALK 09:58, 18 April 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for ITN work! - Today's story mentions a concert I loved to hear (DYK) and a piece I loved to sing in choir, 150 years old (OTD). -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:04, 22 May 2024 (UTC) Today's story about Willi Brokmeier still needs support for RD. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:57, 25 May 2024 (UTC) Administrators' newsletter – June 2024News and updates for administrators from the past month (May 2024).
"Fixing" redirect linksHey Stephen! Sadly I'm not here to sing, but to remind you that you should not "fix" redirect links just for the sake of fixing them, as you did here. Thank you for posting Éric Tappy last minute, my story today! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:40, 19 June 2024 (UTC) Today is a feast day for which Bach composed a chorale cantata in 1724 (and we had a DYK about it in 2012). Can't believe that Jodie Devos had to die, - don't miss her video from the Opéra-Comique at the end, - story to come. The weekend brought plenty of music sung and listened to, and some of it is reflected in the last two stories! + pics of good food with good company --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:14, 24 June 2024 (UTC) Our article on stampede also talks about humansI noticed that you reverted my tweak to the ITN template. I will note that Stampede#Human stampedes and crushes does cover the concept of human stampedes, which are different than a crowd crush. At your leisure, would you please self-revert? — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 01:52, 4 July 2024 (UTC) Good of you to provide a reason! July music
On a friend's birthday - she is pictured on my talk - I have another RD death article that needs reviewing, Martti Wallén. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:05, 6 July 2024 (UTC) Pictured on the Main page: Brian's Mozart family grand tour, my story today, and Mozart related to all three items of music on my talk: our 2023 concert, an opera in a theatre where a Mozart premiere took place, and those remembered, the bass and Liana Isakadze, a violinist from Georgia (whose article would be better with more details about her music-making). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:39, 9 July 2024 (UTC) I remember today Bach's 1724 cantata for this Sunday which is unusual in many respects. The violinist made it to the Main page, but another woman needs attention for RD, Marina Kondratyeva. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:58, 14 July 2024 (UTC) She's on the Main page now. My story today is - because of the anniversary of the premiere OTD in 1782 - about Die Entführung aus dem Serail, opera by Mozart, while yesterday's was - because of the TFA - about Les contes d'Hoffmann, opera by Offenbach, - so 3 times Mozart again if you click on "music" ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:18, 16 July 2024 (UTC) Today's story is about a photographer who took iconic pictures, especially View from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on Manhattan, 9/11, yesterday's was a great mezzo, and on Thursday we watched a sublime ballerina. If that's not enough my talk offers chamber music from two amazing concerts. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:01, 20 July 2024 (UTC) Wikipedia:Main Page history/2024 July 30b had a baritone, a violinist, a composer and a Bach cantata, - almost too much, and the composer's article, Wolfgang Rihm, improved much over the last days, could still grow. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:23, 31 July 2024 (UTC) ITN archivesHi. I hope you are doing well. I am glad to tell you that Wikipedia:In the news/Posted/Archives are now fully available, with all the vandalism/disruptive edits removed. August music
Today I have three "musicians" on the Main page, one is also the topic of my story, like 22 July but with interview and the music to be played today -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:16, 8 August 2024 (UTC) On 13 August, Bach's cantata was 300 years old, and the image one. The cantata is an extrordinary piece, using the chorale's text and famous melody more than others in the cycle. It's nice to have not only a recent death, but also this "birthday" on the Main page. And a rainbow in my places. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:02, 13 August 2024 (UTC) Help? My story today is about a woman, nominated for RD but needing support as I write this. A composer died whose article is long and mostly unreferenced. And some articles open for review, always. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:05, 27 August 2024 (UTC) Today it's Siegfried Lorenz (baritone), on his birthday, nominated for RD. The concerns regarding Goehr are detailed on the talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:15, 30 August 2024 (UTC) ITN recognition for Muhammad YunusOn 9 August 2024, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Muhammad Yunus, which you updated. On display his portrait by Egon Schiele, music from Moses und Aron, and two DYK hooks, one from 2010 and another from 2014; the latter, about his 40th birthday, appeared on his 140th birthday ;) - See places for a stunning sunrise, on the day Bruckner's 200th birthday was celebrated (just a few days late). -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:58, 13 September 2024 (UTC) October music
WP:ITNN: I have a nom for Michael Sladek open that needs attention. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:18, 1 October 2024 (UTC) He got attention then. - You may remember Maryvonne Le Dizès, my story today as on 28 August. Some September music was unusual: last compositions and eternal light, with Ligeti mentioned in story and music. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:52, 3 October 2024 (UTC) She got attention, - now Rohan de Saram needs it. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:19, 6 October 2024 (UTC) He got attention, now some for Helmut Bauer (bishop) would be nice because his Requiem (livestream) will be tomorrow. - Today I remember an organist who was pictured on the Main page on his birthday ten years ago, and I found two recent organ concerts to match, - see top of my talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:27, 11 October 2024 (UTC) Today brought his timely promotion to the Main page on the day when pieces from Mozart's Requiem were performed for him. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:38, 12 October 2024 (UTC) Now it's Leif Segerstam. Listen to the music in my story: I put it on DYK 10 years ago (mentioning Ukraine) and heard it today for the first time. That violinist/violist was incredible! Last month someone added to her article that she died, - a year ago OTD. Not recent enough to be mentioned, and we can't celebrate her birthday, - we don't even have a year. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:31, 15 October 2024 (UTC) I made Segerstam my big story ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:19, 16 October 2024 (UTC) Precious anniversary

Oct 16 OTDI saw that you removed an entry from OTD. On my resolution, the OTD has a huge gap, and one more entry doesn't cause the template to go past the DYK template. Does your version of the Main Page have any gaps in OTD? I'm tempted to revert your edit but I wanted to check in with you first. Z1720 (talk) 01:25, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
Main page balanceJust letting you know that I removed an OTD item just before midnight UTC to achieve main page balance. I know that it's a bit subjective, as it depends on screen size etc, but it looked "perfect" after the OTD removal. Schwede66 04:29, 18 October 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for promoting another "late" woman to the Main page! - November was rich in sadness and happiness for me, expressed in music. - On the Main page today also Jean Sibelius on his birthday. Listening to Beethoven's Fifth from the opening of Notre-Dame de Paris. We sang in choirs today. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:23, 8 December 2024 (UTC) Michael Ruetz - again posted to ITNN on the last day, due to private matters. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:04, 9 December 2024 (UTC) (and appeared) - listen today to the (new) Perplexities after Escher. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:23, 12 December 2024 (UTC) Listen today to Beethoven's 3rd cello sonata, on his birthday - it was a hook in the 2020 DYK set when his 250th birthday was remembered. I picked a recording with Antônio Meneses, because he was on my sad list this year, and I was in Brazil (see places), and I love his playing. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:08, 16 December 2024 (UTC) I come to fix the cellist's name, with a 10-years-old DYK and new pics - look for red birds --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:25, 18 December 2024 (UTC) Today is a woman poet's centenary. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:49, 20 December 2024 (UTC) Mian Page RfDHello Stephen, can you explain the reverts to my Main talk page edits?
