ചരിത്രം

ഒഹായോയിൽ നിലവിൽ ഒരു അമേരിക്കൻ ഇന്ത്യൻ ഗോത്രക്കാർക്കും ഫെഡറൽ അംഗീകാരം ഇല്ല;[3] എന്നിരുന്നാലും, കുയാഹോഗ താഴ്‌വരയിലെ മുൻ നിവാസികൾ തദ്ദേശീയ അമേരിക്കൻ ഇന്ത്യൻ വർഗ്ഗക്കാരായിരുന്നു.[4] വ്യാൻ‌ഡോട്ട്, ഒട്ടാവ, ഒജിബ്‌വെ, മൻ‌സി, പൊട്ടാവട്ടോമി, ഷാവ്‌നി എന്നീ വർഗ്ഗക്കാരെല്ലാം ഈ പ്രദേശത്ത് അധിവസിക്കുകയോ പ്രദേശത്തുകൂടി സഞ്ചരിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്തിരുന്നു; എന്നാൽ ലെനാപെവാക് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഡെലവെയർ നേഷൻ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന ലെനാപ് നേഷനെ ഉന്നത ഒഹായോ നദീ താഴ്‍വരയിലെ പല തദ്ദേശീയ രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങളുടെയും "പിതാമഹൻമാർ" ആയി കണക്കാക്കുന്നു.[5][6]
