user:CitrusHemlock are state legislators bo longer considered notable? FloridaArmy (talk) 02:48, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Florida. While per WP:NSUBPOL, United States state legislators are presumed notable, this does not mean they are notable. All presumed notability means, per WP:GNG is that the burden of proof falls on others to prove an article is not notable, not that the article will definitely be considered notable. I believe that the subject in question, a minor state legislator who lived over 150 years ago and had seemingly no recognition, is not a notable figure. CitrusHemlock 12:40, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@CitrusHemlock: While ... United States state legislators are presumed notable, this does not mean they are notable. – Unlike for most areas, office-holding politicians are generally considered automatically notable regardless of coverage. No U.S. state legislator has ever been deleted as far as I'm aware, even in cases where coverage is difficult to find; see for example Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Politicians/archive 2 which gives many examples of similar articles being speedily kept at AFD without question. @FloridaArmy: Hello, Please refer to my comments regarding the article's compliance with WP:GNG criteria. The article must adhere to WP:ANYBIO / WP:POLITICIAN guidelines. At present, the sources provided do not meet the requirements of WP:RS or WP:IS. Reliable and independent sources are necessary to satisfy WP:V. Kindly ensure such sources are included before your next submission. Thank you for your understanding. QEnigma talk 13:36, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

FloridaArmy (talk) 13:44, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@FloridaArmy: The subject may be notable as a state legislator under WP:POLITICIAN (please refere to WP:NBASIC and WP:ANYBIO as well), but this requires reliable, independent secondary sources with significant coverage to meet WP:GNG or WP:SNG.

Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Thanks very much user:PigeonChickenFish. Same for you! Any interest in cleaning up and sorting out Draft:George St. Pierre Brooks or Draft:John A. Bridgeland? Take care. FloridaArmy (talk) 11:57, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I expanded the Brooks draft, however it was difficult me to edit because his biography has contradictions in reliable sources (because he was a known storyteller). The Bridgeland draft existed already on WP under John A. Bridgland, which I expanded, and added the redirects. ~ PigeonChickenFish (talk) 08:07, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I had a look for you. I found only one good reference, namely: Skinner, R. (2008). The Whare in the Bush: Unpacking a Twentieth Century Tradition. Fabrications : The Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians, Australia and New Zealand, 18(1), 56–73. https://doi.org/10.1080/10331867.2008.10539622

It indicates that at least one of his photos is iconic:

Postwar discussion on architecture in New Zealand repeatedly cites a photograph taken in or about 1916 taken – one of many – by the photographer and railway worker Albert Percy Godber... This image has acquired a unique status in New Zealand architectural culture. It has been serially reproduced and reinterpreted by exhibition curators and writers for over fifty years.

This is referring to the picture "Hans Peter Knutzen sitting on the veranda of his home" which you can see here https://natlib.govt.nz/records/22302409

Sorry I couldn't help more. MarcGarver (talk) 18:58, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a single sentence, with a direct quote attributed to the author and the citation. I've done it that way as we'd really need some further citations to claim it has been "serially reproduced". MarcGarver (talk) 09:31, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Old Riverside Hutterite Colony

Do you think perhaps the history in the Doncram Draft:Old Riverside Hutterite Colony should be restored, albeit without the excessive focus on the family of Laura Ingalls Wilder? It just seems like there's a lot missing from the article since you chopped up that whole segment. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 22:45, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:DanTD. I am not very familiar with this subject. With Doncram entries I've tried to improve what I can and out the rest on the talkpage. I'm not seeing content on Laura Ingalls? Generally speaking, I like to see entries in mainspace where they garner attention and improvements rather than in the shadows of Draftspace where they eventually get deleted. Apart from those thoughts I would say I trust your judgment and am happy to help in any way I can. I would be happy to help with other Doncram drafts if someone is willing to make a lsit. As you note my "helping" tends to be drastic pruning down to what makes sense to me and I think can fly in mainspace. Take care. Sorry if I have not addressed your question more directly. Again, I don't know much about this subject. FloridaArmy (talk) 17:12, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It was in this revision, and I was hoping to see more about the Hutterites and the historic relationship to this site. I'm not as familiar with the subject either, and there was some stuff I had to get rid of too. In any case there are already a lot of lists of Doncram drafts around. I want to fix them up as much as you and other editors. -------User:DanTD (talk) 19:06, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
User:DanTD where can I find the lists of Doncram's drafts? FloridaArmy (talk) 18:08, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
