Just thought I'd stop by to say "Wow". I haven't been so active in recent months, but when I come back from time to tine I see all your great work on historical football topics. It is great to see someone relatively new working so diligently in this area and generating quality work. Cbl62 (talk) 16:55, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
For creating and expanding high-quality content on college football players and teams and for diligent research and advocacy in saving many notable articles from deletion. In a relatively short period since 2021, the 823 articles you created have received more than 3.7 million page views! These contributions include 21 college football biographies with more than 25,000 views:
Thank you very much, Cbl62 - this means a lot coming from you! And wow, I'm surprised my creations have received that many views - when I joined back in November 2020 (initially only to write two things), I would never have guessed I would go on to create things read by millions! BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:19, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Page views are an indication that people care for the subjects about which you are writing. You garnered 3.7 million views in just two-and-a-half years. That total will continue to grow in the years (and decades) ahead. Keep it up! Cbl62 (talk) 17:25, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I saw your comment on Draft:William J. Thorn (athletics coach). I wasn't actually notified by the user that it was rejected, but thanks for asking for clarification on the reasoning for rejection - the same user rejected another draft of mine Draft:Craig Angelos (the athletic director of Hawaii), and I was not able to get any more detail on that one either. I'm not going to ask you to review them - that can be a lengthy process - but could you maybe make a similar request there? If there's specific feedback, I can try and correct any issues, so it's disappointing when nothing specific is given. Toa Nidhiki05 (Work) (talk) 17:40, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I actually do - I use this account for disclosed paid editing (hence the name, and my user page, and disclosures in edit summaries and on talk pages), and using AfC for articles is absolutely mandatory for that per WP:PAY. I try to follow all guidelines when doing this, which includes submitting new articles for peer review through AfC. Toa Nidhiki05 (Work) (talk) 18:56, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Toa Nidhiki05 (Work): As the user has not responded in 24 hours, and this issue has happened previously (no reply to a comment regarding the decline), I accepted Thorn myself, given that the article seemed to be of high quality and he seems notable. I'll take a look at the other one as well. BeanieFan11 (talk) 23:34, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Lately, it seems like I've seen you make valuable comments in AFD discussions but you don't cast a "vote". Is there a reason why? I hope it has nothing to do with keeping a high AFD agreement percentage but that doesn't seem like something you'd care about. As a frequent AFD closer, I'd appreciate it if you would take a stand on what you think should happen with articles because I know you do your homework and make a thoughtful decision. Thank you. LizRead!Talk!05:40, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Liz: Its mainly because of how disorganized the notability criteria for sports has become. I usually comment on ones which I feel have a very good chance of being notable. Due to the changes in NSPORT, though, one is not supposed to be allowed to be kept until it is 'demonstrated that SIGCOV exists', something that can be absurd in some situations. I try to only vote on the ones which have been demonstrated to have SIGCOV, or, failing that, a very strong argument otherwise for its keeping. For many of them (especially older, foreign topics), while they have a very high chance of being notable, I don't feel right voting 'keep' when there hasn't been sufficient coverage demonstrated and I can't think of a strong enough argument to keep. BeanieFan11 (talk) 14:32, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Historically, voting keep at too many borderline AfDs just gets you badgered and your creations targeted (if you have any). Less stressful to just comment sometimes. Beanie was brought to ANI a few years ago when he really didn't even do anything. The reporting user was interaction-banned in a separate discussion later for hounding Beanie. That's not the only person who has targeted Beanie either. No sanctions came out of the other case though. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 19:29, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if true, that's just tragic. No one should be harrassed for comments at an AFD discussion unless they are clearly AI-generated or they are just a series of "per nom" votes. Sorry you had to deal with that, BeanieFan11. Being called to ANI is no fun at all. But I appreciate your thoughtful response here to my query. I understand your position, I wish some other editors took AFDs as seriously as you do. LizRead!Talk!04:48, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notcharizard, and that’s why it’s better to create content in draft space. Had you done so, it would have been shown to Beanie that someone is already working on the article. It doesn’t show if the content sits in a sandbox somewhere. Schwede6618:49, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Schwede66 I always make things in my sandbox first while I’m just find resources, so I don’t make a draft for a topic who turns out not to be notable enough :) Otherwise I’d have quite a few abandoned drafts! Once I’m sure the topic’s notable, I create a draft, which in this case is when I found out an article has just been made!
I feel like you’re trying to lecture me, but I stand by this method and it’s not a big deal at all that this happened, I found it pretty funny! -- NotCharizard🗨04:04, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I’m not lecturing you. All I did is tell you of a way of preventing such double ups. You can work the way that suits you best. Having articles in draft space that you don’t get over the notability threshold is not a problem either; you can just ask for them to be deleted. Schwede6605:09, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Beanie, is that IP who continuously submitted drafts that were declined due to insufficient sources still active? Just curious. I haven't seen drafts from them in a while but also haven't been super active with AfC. S0091 (talk) 19:45, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
BeanieFan11, it's been nine days since you were asked to provide a QPQ for this nomination, and seven is the official maximum before the nomination can be closed. Please provide a QPQ immediately to avoid closure. Thank you very much. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:39, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wow. Sorry, BeanieFan11. I didn't see a specific reply, yet didn't notice a newly added link above, which is my error. Thank you. I've marked the nomination with a specific note that a reviewer is needed. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:03, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
…you ought to familiarize yourself with the situation, where the article creator was recently WP:CBANNED for countless hours of timesinks via COI/UPE going back more than a decade creating a walled garden of over 400 articles cited mostly to poor-quality sources. Some of us are trying to clean up the encyclopedia and it's a massive effort. Please refer to:
I don't have the time to read through all that. What specifically is wrong with Charles O. Goold and Inchling (the two I restored) – they looked relatively well-developed with sources that seemed decent? (Also, what COI could he have with a century old children's play?) BeanieFan11 (talk) 22:18, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Some of the issues with Greg's articles is they sometimes use unreliable sources, fail verification and/or the claims are exaggerated so you have do a thorough review. The COI is his him writing about his family, related people and topics. I notice in the article about Goold, a book published by Arcadia Publishing is used, which often is not a reliable source and heavy reliance on the hyper-local newspaper the Carmel Pine Cone. S0091 (talk) 14:20, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you S0091. We have someone who appears to be new to this walled garden innocuously "defending" a couple of Greg's articles without having a full awareness of the situation. @Netherzone: as the one who added the notability tag to Inchling along with years of experience dealing with these sources and this topic area, would you mind briefly explaining the problems with the sources and the ways they are being used? You tend to articulate source analysis better than I can. Left guide (talk) 15:57, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My concern is: are the issues really that serious that they need to be mass removed by the dozens? Have Arcadia and the Pine Cone been determined to be unreliable? We've got very few editors who write decent articles on historical topics, so we better get it right if we decide that its necessary to mass throw them out. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:00, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
When there's 400+ articles worth of these similar sets of sources, and most of us would rather spend time doing other things of a more personal preference on Wikipedia and in real life, it's extraordinarily difficult to do anything other than mass removal. Ironically, Pine Cone and Arcadia are probably the two sources that have been discussed the most ad nauseum on endless rounds of talk page discussions, with Greg being the only one who believed they were reliable for establishing notability, in his own extremely persistent way. Left guide (talk) 16:19, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Arcadia Publishing has been discussed a few times at RSN and needs to be used with extreme caution because often the authors are not recognized experts and often they have a vested interest in promoting the subject. Some editors have noted factual errors. I came across one that was written by a local real estate agent. I am not sure the issue with Pine Cone is reliability as much as its use to establish notability given it is hyper local publication. These sources have been discussed with Greg and at various AfDs several times and consensus I believe has consistently been neither can be used to establish notability. S0091 (talk) 16:27, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @BeanieFan11, yes, @Left guide is correct. The articles are not "decent" if sources are misrepresented enmass and unreliable sources are used in the majority of them. If you do decide to take the time to investigate in depth, read through the talk page archives of the editor. The problems with COI go all the way back to 2007 and later with UPE editing, and the sourcing issues (part of the block) run the course.
Personally, I see no issue whatsoever with the redirect, and I doubt the Inchling article would survive an AfD. Re: the biography, many of the bios were written about local people who were simply doing their job and are not notable. Bits and pieces of non-sigcov are often woven together to form a synthesis to make the person sound notable (this often would include misrepresenting sources and simply making up original research.
Back to Inchling...I don't have time at the moment to do an in-depth source analysis table for 21 (refbombing is also often a problem with these articles) however they seem to be hyper-local coverage in a weekly tabloid (Carmel Pine Cone), press releases in other local publications and books by marginal presses like Acadia or Valley Press, or user-submitted content on TFAO. I think redirecting or merging to the playwrights article is the best solution. Netherzone (talk) 16:33, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I still question whether e.g. the Pine Cone is unusable solely for being local, but as there do seem to be some issues I'll take a step back and let others deal with the articles. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:48, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
BeanieFan, thanks for offering to step back from this complicated and time consuming clean up situation. FYI, I just had a quick look at the Goold biography and want to share my thoughts. It is part of the Carmel walled garden that was identified by multiple editors and administrators. It's a fluffed and puffed creation of a person who was simply living his life and doing his job. City trustees and board members do not have inherent notability as politicians, nor do bankers.
Here are the problems with the sourcing. There is one decent source, the bio in the 1925 Watkins book. The "NPS" source is not about him, it is a mention of a building associated with him, people don't inherit notability from buildings, and it is questionable if the building itself is notable, it's not on the NRHP. Additionally, the source is misrepresented as the National Park System, but it is really from the California Parks and Recreation Department. The Hale and Dramov sources are from questionable presses, and the rest of the sources are hyper-local weekly tabloid and/or press releases.
I hate to beat a dead horse over here, but just for the record, that 1925 Watkins book is published by S. J. Clarke which according to its Wikipedia article is a self-publishing firm and thus WP:SPS, (but even if I'm somehow mistaken, it wouldn't be enough on its own to establish notability especially since it also appears to be an indiscriminate source) and that was one of the factors involved in my initial decision to redirect. Thanks as always to Netherzone for the skillful mediation, and to BeanieFan11 for being willing to listen and communicate with the community. Left guide (talk) 20:14, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not a dead horse at all, Left guide, since I am pretty sure it has been used in other articles. BeanieFan, sorry to take up your talk page with this. If you prefer, this discussion can be move to another talk page. Netherzone (talk) 21:26, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I was looking at womens football info and looked at my info...Why was the MVP title removed? Where you there? I remember I had removed it three years ago because I could not find a published reliable source for it. Do you have a reliable source for it? That'd include e.g. news articles, books, league publications, etc. BeanieFan11 (talk) 19:46, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi BeanieFan11. Thank you for your work on Jaylyn Sherrod. Another editor, Aszx5000, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Perfect article - how come you are not autopatrolled, there is certainly no need for patrollers to be reviewing your articles? thanks.
To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Aszx5000}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)
Well that's odd... Articles are marked as auto patrolled when moved from draft space to main space, and this was never converted to a redirect (which would have unmarked it). I'm stumped! Hey man im josh (talk) 22:36, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, so there's an editor going around nominating a series of college football QBs for AfD, and it's not clear whether they are doing WP:BEFORE searches or even assessing the sources already in the article. For WP:Articles for deletion/Tai Lavatai, a basic Google search yielded a Fox Sports news archive showing 19 instances of SIGCOV from various outlets over a span of 2.5 years. The other two are:

Hello! Doing new page patrol for the massive amount of sports biographies has reminded me about the effort to get some of them fleshed out with existent but hard-to-find significant coverage. It's not really my area of expertise, but you've been doing good work toward making that happen. Are we still considering a broader effort to get these cleaned up through an event or drive, or something similar? I'd really like for Category:Sports biographies lacking sources containing significant coverage to be cleared, and obviously it would be better to do that through high quality articles over deletion if it's feasible. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 21:02, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Thebiguglyalien: I still hope eventually to do it, although I haven't really made progress in the past months to be honest. I still have the format I made here, though I'd likely make some changes and re-organizing (I think I made scoring too complicated). The main issue was that I'm not sure exactly how to go about starting up a new competition, especially in getting decent participation, etc... I don't have much time right now, but I can think about ways to do it – maybe we could shoot for December or January as a time to hold it? BeanieFan11 (talk) 21:44, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

On 6 September 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Sydney Francisco, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. I think that works. If you want, you could add ALT hooks in the nomination (e.g. in addition to the initial hook, you could have something like "ALT1 ... that despite still being the Memphis Tigers' all-time leading tackler over 30 years after his college career ended, Danton Barto never made it to the NFL?" if you want to give different wording options) BeanieFan11 (talk) 15:51, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing particularly jumps out to me, but reading the article, here's every different possibility that came to mind (some may be 'interesting', some not, just ideas):
... that the University of Memphis football team retired the number of Danton Barto 29 years after his career, following a petition from school students?
... that the NFL's top scouts receive the BART Awards, named after Danton Barto?
... that within two years, football coach Danton Barto both led his team to a league championship and witnessed them folding?
... that Danton Barto was the first football player to have his number retired by his high school?
... that in professional football, Danton Barto coached both winless teams and league championship teams?

Apologies for not seeing your ping earlier, I've been quite under the weather this week and was offline for several days. If you just wanted a list of coaches to possibly write about, this was the primary source (CFB Data Warehouse) used on that deleted article, which may or may not be useful to you: [[1]]

The 2024 Developing Countries WikiContest has come to a close! After a thrilling finish to the event with a slew of submissions on the final day, we have our winners. With 608 points, Thebiguglyalien (submissions) comes in third with his series of Kiribati and Botswanan submissions; BeanieFan11 (submissions) flies into second place at the last second with 771 points after a string of good articles about sportspersons; and after leading for much of contest's three months, Generalissima (submissions) finishes with a whopping 798 points to take home the Gold Belt Buckle. Congratulations to our winners!
In addition to his spot in the top three, BeanieFan11 (submissions) also wins the special awards for submitting under the most countries (44 countries) and for writing the most articles about women (15 Did you know? nominations)! Magentic Manifestations (submissions), after making 16 submissions under the Indian flag—15 of them good articles—receives the awards for most submissions for a single country and most featured or good articles promoted. For their submission of one FAC review, five FLC reviews, and 20 GAN reviews, Simongraham (submissions) wins for most article reviews.
The results of the contest have far exceeded any expectations the coordinators had for it at the beginning: among the submissions to the event were 3 FAs, 10 FLs, 88 GAs, dozens of article reviews of every kind, and more Did you know? submissions than we can count! Regardless of your level of participation, every contestant can be proud to have contributed towards a major step in countering the systemic bias on Wikipedia. Every year, millions of readers and editors around the globe use Wikipedia to educate themselves and communicate with others about parts of the world that often receive less attention than they deserve. Thank you for participating with us in the contest and contributing to this effort. The DCWC will return next year and we look forward to seeing you contribute again! However, before that...
We need your feedback! Join the conversation on the talk page to discuss your reflections on the contest (even if you didn't participate!) and help us make it better.
Sometimes I copy-paste from other talk pages on similar topics to get the assessment; I must have just forgot to change the blp parameter. BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:07, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This award is given in recognition to BeanieFan11 for accumulating at least 10 points during the September 2024 NPP backlog drive. Your contributions helped play a part in the 19,000+ articles and 35,000+ redirects reviewed (for a total of 26,884.6 points) completed during the drive. Thank you so much for taking part and contributing to help reduce the backlog! Hey man im josh (talk) 15:33, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The process will have a one week call for candidates phase, a one week pause to set up SecurePoll, a three-day period of public discussion, followed by 7 days of no public discussion and a private vote using SecurePoll.
The outcomes of this process are identical to making requests for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA or administrator elections.
Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. A separate user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.
To avoid sending too many messages, this will be the last mass message sent about administrator elections. If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.
You're receiving this message because you signed up for the mailing list. To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself from the list.
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
On 16 October 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Dim Montero, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. Not like I'm going to be competing for the top spot in the WikiCup, but I was curious how many articles you have prepped and ready to nominate. Is there a reason you haven't nominated a bunch earlier in this round? I see, I believe, 8 from December of last year that you had received feedback on but had withdrawn due to being busy and having a bit of burnout. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:46, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was actually just preparing to nominate a few when I noticed your message – I've been meaning to do some nominations recently (and work on the old ones) but got a bit carried away with other work – to answer your question, I had previously wrote up a list of about c. 15-20 likely GAs that are ready to be nominated (and a good number of others that I intend on working on in the upcoming days). BeanieFan11 (talk) 14:41, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Those are just the ones that are ready. I still have two weeks to prep the rest – don't underestimate a beanie's ability to rapidly produce GAs! ;) BeanieFan11 (talk) 15:12, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm a 'fan' of NFL-themed 'Beanie Ballz', one of which is pictured in my infobox. My name is not about Ebert, although him and Odell Stautzenberger not having articles was what inspired me to join (Ebert because of his name 'Beanie', of course, and Stautzenberger because...I liked the name 'Stautzenberger'). BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:49, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The other point still stands: When someone rapidly PRODs well over 100 Olympian articles within minutes and admits that they did not do any BEFORE search whatsoever ... dePRODing on that basis is certainly valid.BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:44, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
On October 25, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote tallies cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's tally during the election. The suffrage requirements are different from those at RFA.
Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for an indeterminate amount of time, perhaps a week or two. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose). As this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").
Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

To answer your questions in recent North Korean AfD nominations
Pang Gwang-chol: What's his Korean name? I think it's roughly like 팡광촐.
Tak Yong-bin: How do you know he fails GNG? Did you look at even a single North Korean news source from the time? I usually assume Simione001 just looked at the article by the base it doesn't have any significant coverage.
Thanks for Pang Gwang-chol. As for Tak, I've figured it was something like that – still a completely inappropriate level of BEFORE for the topic (or, rather, no BEFORE), but oh well... BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:09, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi BeanieFan11, thanks for participating in the WikiCup. You recently submitted Template:Did you know nominations/Mathias Nkwenti for DYK points, but unfortunately it is not eligible for DYK points because it was nominated to DYK as a newly promoted GA. I know this can be disappointing, but Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring#Did you know? states that only newly created or expanded DYKs are eligible for DYK points. The rules specifically exclude DYK submissions from receiving points if their appearance on DYK is solely because the article was a newly promoted GA. Epicgenius (talk) 00:57, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@BeanieFan11, thanks for your response. I'm double-checking the nomination again, but in the future, please nominate it as a 5x expansion if it's a fivefold expansion (even if it's also a newly promoted GA). If you nominate the article for DYK solely based on it being promoted to GA status, it would not be eligible. – Epicgenius (talk) 01:01, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
After taking a look, I can confirm that the article did meet the 5x eligibility criterion at the time of nomination. I apologize and have restored your points. However, I should caution against nominating a 5x expansion as a newly promoted GA next time - I would rather grant you the points if it's actually eligible, rather than mistakenly denying you the points. Epicgenius (talk) 01:06, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I do love how full your userpage header is, with all those top icons, but I think it, in a way, takes away from your successes because I don't think anybody is actually trying to count the GA and DYK icons on your page because of how many there are. Have you considered something similar to what Gonzo has (see User talk:Gonzo fan2007)? Personally I have no idea how many GAs and DYKs you have because of this, and I think it could actually help to showcase this a bit better. Just a suggestion, but obviously we all have our own preferences and style! Hey man im josh (talk) 13:36, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've been thinking about that recently – I lost count of my GAs and DYKs as well! :) – after the WikiCup I plan on reorganizing my userpage so it's not so cluttered. BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:47, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just wanted to let you know that I suggested to that editor to use PROD rather than sending dozens of articles to AFD. This was because no one was participating in these AFDs about dart players and they all filled up the daily log and had to be relisted. I thought it would be easier to PROD these articles and if anyone wanted to work on them, they could be easily restored through REFUND. So, they were following my advice to do so. LizRead!Talk!23:08, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think both the mass PROD route and the mass AFD route is inappropriate. The user seems to have done zero BEFORE search (they refused over three times to answer the basic question of 'have you done a BEFORE?') and several of them proved to be clearly notable when actual effort was put in (e.g. Bill Lennard; and while Jack McKenna hasn't been closed yet there's multiple stories calling him Ireland's greatest ever darts player, a household name, etc.). IMO, even if articles aren't in the best shape, when a good chunk are likely notable mass removal without any effort to verify notability is not a good idea. BeanieFan11 (talk) 23:35, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Beanie, how come you stopped updating your submissions for the WikiCup? The last time you did so was the 25th, and I don't think it's great to leave it all to the last minute to add, even though technically allowed. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:54, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In the process of doing it now. (I don't know, it just made sense to me to do it at once rather than update the page c. 20 times in six days). BeanieFan11 (talk) 15:03, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners, and thank all participants for their involvement!
I noticed you recently removed PROD templates from a bunch of dart player’s pages citing that a proper BEFORE was not done according to your research.
As you requested, ItsKesha brought those articles to AfD, where editors like me are trying to figure out if they are notable.
Currently, from the research of us !voters on AfD, it seems as if all or most of them are only mentioned in automated databases, with no human having written about them in detail meeting SIGCOV besides the creation of the article.
However, I was wondering why you believed ItsKesha’s BEFORE was insufficient - did you find any sources that they missed to indicate this? (not that you needed to provide a valid rationale from dePRODing, it’s totally optional).
I based the removals on thesediscussions; I find it highly likely that no BEFORE was performed, given that well over 100 articles were nominated en masse in a few minutes (how would anyone be able to do a proper BEFORE in that timeframe, especially for historical ones?) and ItsKesha outright refused on numerous occasions to answer the basic question of 'have you done a BEFORE'. I only gave a proper look to a few but several of them turned out to be clearly notable (e.g. Bill Lennard, as well as Jack McKenna who has multiple newspaper articles calling him the greatest Irish darts player in history). There's the possibility that many may not be notable, and that's why I don't object to AFDs (although it'd be nice if they were of a reasonable quantity – i.e. not all at once) – but surely a good number of notable ones were going to be lost in the process given how little effort was put in which is not appropriate in my opinion. Hello! this article was "kept" at AfD. In the discussion, you mentioned that there is coverage of him in California papers, and cited several. Unfortunately, I cannot access most of them, though I could access the first one and added something from it to the article. Could you please add these cites and summarize the info about him in Perry Newberry article?: Fresno Morning Republican, San Francisco Chronicle (2), Oakland Tribune (2). There appears to be a decent amount of coverage on Newspapers.com. I could provide some clippings if you want to recreate it, or I could possibly recreate it at some point if you want (apparently he was cut from his college team, then played juco for two years, then was a third-string at Marshall for two years and only completed two passes ([5]) – interesting that he was able to sign with the Seahawks after such little experience.). It would probably be best to have it refunded and moved to draft so either of us could work on it. Did you want to refund it or did you want me to? Thanks, ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 19:48, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate all that you do on Wikipedia, your contributions are invaluable. However, it would make things smoother if you didn't wait until the last minute to de-PROD articles. The earlier you can do this, the better. Thanks! LizRead!Talk!23:55, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I can try, but its a little difficult to keep up with all the PRODs and give them the proper attention when they're being done in large chunks (e.g. there's 22 active Olympian PRODs and several more added each day; it can take a decent bit of time to do proper searches for each, especially for ones in different languages, etc.). Sorry to bug you, but do you mind doing a quick Newspapers.com search for Thaddeus Coleman's father Michael Coleman to see if he really spent time with the Saints and Redskins? This source says that but it was in the Wikipedia article before that source was published so they may have been copying Wikipedia. Hello. It's been a while. If you recall you helped me out with the Jersey Women's cricket business back in June or July. I'd like to turn one of the redirects into a full page as I have put together enough significant coverage on this particular player to get it passed I believe. Can you tell me how to do this? Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
Kevin Parks was good enough to get trading cards but doesn't have an article. I don't think he was even invited to an NFL rookie minicamp tryout, kind of odd (it might be because of his height, he has a PFR page somehow that says he is 5'6). This guy is the polar opposite of Derek Devine from above, who didn't play any in college but signed with an NFL team anyway. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 18:03, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think I've seen a couple of guys with trading cards who did absolutely nothing beyond college (I've gotten quite a few no-name autographs in packs myself). Does seem kind of unusual that he got next to zero attention beyond college, since he seemed to have decent stats. According to [6] he briefly played in the German Football League and was a signee to the failed Major League Football. Some other coverage: [7][8][9][10][11]. There isn't really a way to 'prevent' someone from creating an article over a draft. If you're concerned about the possibility of someone doing it – and you're completely certain of the player's notability – one thing you could do is start a stub with some references to demonstrate notability (e.g. infobox, a few sentences and a handful of pieces of significant coverage on the player, with the intention of coming back and expanding it a bit later). BeanieFan11 (talk) 23:47, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Butters.From.SouthPark: Dude then stop overwhelming yourself by starting all these drafts if you can't keep up with them. Simple as that. I never create drafts. If I find a player is notable I create them on spot, there is absolutely no reason for them to be started as drafts. You also literally start these drafts with just one sentence so I have no idea what you are complaining about. I just moved Andrew Armstrong (American football) from the draft space today because there is extensive info there. Another thing is you also start them on players coming off big games/NFL Draft buzz so what exactly do you expect when the article actually gets created?-- Yankees1000:29, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You also act as though I am doing this on purpose or with malicious intent which I don't appreciate. And one last thing: nobody is preventing you from enhancing these articles too but judging from your edit history you don't seem to have any interest in doing so and have one clear agenda on this site.-- Yankees1000:41, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Other drafts I created do not matter. Another editor had worked on the draft as well. I will state this only once: Do not create an article knowing full well that there is a draft. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him)02:28, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I work on drafts when I find the time to. I did not find suitable additional sources for Latcham, Brasseaux, Braid, Vitello, or Rigas and could not create an article on Judd or Newlin given that another editor had already done so. Since we're going to start assuming intentions here: Why are you intent on creating articles knowing full well that drafts exist? Is this to boast the number of articles you proudly display on your user page? I am telling you to work collaboratively and your first instinct is to try to paint this against me. All I'm asking is that you use the draftspace if there is already a draft; it is not a significant deal that should affect your ability to edit. It affects mine if you don't, because it's a waste of time to remove drafts that have become articles. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him)05:19, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The person who actually does the work and creates a decent article should be the one to get credited for creating the article. Why do you create so many drafts if you can't keep up with them and need others to do all the work aside from writing "Brandon Judd is an American law enforcement officer"? Doing that and then getting upset at anyone who creates their own article instead of expanding your one-sentence seems to indicate being very focused on getting credit more than me listing my contributions on my userpage. For modern European players (I'm talking internet era), where we have full-access to sources, can you find anyone with 260 top-flight appearances who is non-notable? Can you find a single modern European FIFA World Cup player for which there is no sigcov?
There are a few footballers with 100+ topflight appearances without significant coverage at all, most likely due to low level of sport played in the country. That being said, small population and interest in certain sport, especially tiny islands (e.g. Belize) as well as European microstates (e.g. Liechtenstein, San Marino, Vatican City, etc.) Imagine a footballer playing 200 matches for a football club in San Marino and didn't receive even single significant coverage, other than the fact they played their 100th/200th match...
Not sure I completely understand your point, but my main argument there was that the odds of someone with so extensive experience not to have coverage – especially for a large football country (in this case, Czechslovakia – much different than e.g. San Marino) – is so incredibly slim that, given no sources from the time were searched, assuming coverage existed would be the only thing that made sense. Thanks for your edit on Laekin Vakalahi, I remember you from the Olympics. I’m not in the US so although I’ve been a fan of NFL for a few years it was my first attempt at starting a page for a player. I struggled to find info on notability expectations on IPP and practise squad and CFL players - do you have any insight on that? Cheers. G Hildreth gazzard (talk) 21:58, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Hildreth gazzard: – originally, the standard for American football players was that they had to appear in a regular season game in either the NFL or CFL, but that was abolished in 2022. Since then, the standard has only been WP:GNG. Now, usually I find that the vast majority of those who've played in CFL games are notable, while a decent majority of NFL practice squad players and those who have signed with NFL teams through IPP are notable as well – but they shouldn't be assumed notable without proof of significant coverage. It ultimately just comes down to whether there's enough for GNG. BeanieFan11 (talk) 00:05, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.
For the 2025 WikiCup, we've implemented several changes to the scoring system. The highest-ranking contestants will now receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are now open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants will no longer be eliminated at the end of each round.
Made a few minor edits and added a link for one of the sources; I didn't find any further substantial coverage. Seems borderline on whether she's notable. I'd suggest just re-submit to AFC if you're done adding to the draft. BeanieFan11 (talk) 19:13, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Helli @BeanieFan11 I thought I would message you regarding the current discussions surrounding ice skating AFDs. I don't know if you have noticed (if you haven't then this message is pointless!) but I have been involved with some of these discussions and have voted delete on several. As you have been so friendly and helpful towards me in the past, I wanted to assure you that I have not, and never would, vote to delete any article without doing the best checking for coverage that I could. As you may recall I had a number of my articles deleted last year and I would never back deleting anyone else's work without thought as has been suggested by Moscow Connection. Anyway I just wanted to offer and explanation as I would not want you to think badly of me. Best wishes. Shrug02 (talk) 17:06, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the message. I appreciate that there's at least someone doing decent searches for some of these ice skating articles, and I do agree that a decent number may be non-notable. My main concerns with the user's AFDs is that there's such a large number of them (well over over 300 going back to May, mostly in a few massive batches, which included one of 50 AFDs in 30 minutes) and for many of them, the only users to comment are ones I don't trust as much to do a proper search. A good example of what I mean would be this: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jill Vernekohl. A German national silver medalist from the offline era which receives only two comments – a "redirect" without explanation and another "redirect" whose only rationale is "Should not remain an article." Another example would be Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Niko Ulanovsky: two !votes, one of which is "Fail to meet criteria ... No medals ... No sources which meet WP:V," and the other is "per above." I don't think, in those examples, a proper search was done, whereas sometimes when newspaper searches were done, the subject turned out to have clear notability, such as in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Barbie Smith. But anyways, thanks for the explanation. BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:56, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Beanie. I was just curious, are you planning to keep a cache of prepped GA noms again, or, due to the changes in the cup this year, nominate them when they're ready instead? Hey man im josh (talk) 15:31, 16 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure what I'm going to do yet, since I used almost the entirety of my potential GAs last year... Might return to doing a bunch of Packers articles with Gonzo. I probably won't be waiting till the end of the competition to do them though, since the rule changes. BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:07, 16 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I thought as much. I figured you might GA them sooner though since your work for getting them prepped for DYK pretty much involves getting them ready for GAN anyways. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:33, 16 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
