User:Czarking0 thank you for reviewing the submission. Are state legislators no longer considered Wikipedia notable? FloridaArmy (talk) 22:13, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
According to WP:NSUBPOL I am mistaken. If you resubmit (and then reply here) I will approve. However, I stand by comments about the sources being insufficient for a more general sense of quality. Czarking0 (talk) 22:17, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
Thanks User:Czarking0. Indeed Wikipedia has carved out notability spheres for politicians, athletes, National register buildings, and other areas were the usual notability and sourcing requirements don't have to be met. I think most state office holders receive some coverage and it's in the interest of completeness that we record what we can about them. I am resubmitting. Take care. FloridaArmy (talk) 23:18, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
I appreciate that. I knew about WP:POLITICIAN but I did not know it applied to state legislators Czarking0 (talk) 00:14, 6 December 2024 (UTC)

Please consider visiting User:CwHerby13/Sandbox, about a former Missouri school, which they'd originally created as a userpage draft. (I declined the speedy.) They are writing about modern stuff, but the user seems to have sources. Also see this COI draft at Draft:Lincoln School Project. You might be very useful since you've done excellent service to the community in the past on these subjects. Might be some good links to capture before that draft is eventually deleted. user:CitrusHemlock are state legislators bo longer considered notable? FloridaArmy (talk) 02:48, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
Hey Florida. While per WP:NSUBPOL, United States state legislators are presumed notable, this does not mean they are notable. All presumed notability means, per WP:GNG is that the burden of proof falls on others to prove an article is not notable, not that the article will definitely be considered notable. I believe that the subject in question, a minor state legislator who lived over 150 years ago and had seemingly no recognition, is not a notable figure. CitrusHemlock 12:40, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
@CitrusHemlock: While ... United States state legislators are presumed notable, this does not mean they are notable. – Unlike for most areas, office-holding politicians are generally considered automatically notable regardless of coverage. No U.S. state legislator has ever been deleted as far as I'm aware, even in cases where coverage is difficult to find; see for example Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Politicians/archive 2 which gives many examples of similar articles being speedily kept at AFD without question. @FloridaArmy: Hello, Please refer to my comments regarding the article's compliance with WP:GNG criteria. The article must adhere to WP:ANYBIO / WP:POLITICIAN guidelines. At present, the sources provided do not meet the requirements of WP:RS or WP:IS. Reliable and independent sources are necessary to satisfy WP:V.
