I maintain Portal:Illinois, including the News section, and I want to be correct about this: Was the last election to be counted and called the one in District 68, Vella vs. Cabello? I just want the date for when the composition of the House was known. Fishal (talk) 03:11, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

"Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. This trivial matter aside, great photo! Job title capitalizationsHi, I saw you reverted my edit on the Indiana elections page. What "standard" are you referring to for caps? I'm operating from MOS:JOBTITLES, where job titles (e.g., congressman, senator, mayor) are only capitalized under certain conditions. You would say "President Joe Biden," but not "Barack Obama, 44th President of the United States," because "president" is referring to the office, rather than Obama's personal title. --Jprg1966 (talk) 23:33, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024Hello Grahaml35, Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points. Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive. Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion. It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated! 2023 Awards Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits. Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited. In all honesty, I felt that page was poorly made, tagged it for a cleanup when it was first made. I did split that from another page about the French rugby league season that was similarly poorly made and did not follow the style of previous seasons. Please could you also nominate 2023–24 French Rugby League season, Elite Two Championship 2023–2024, and Lord Derby Cup 2023–2024 for the same deletion process. And these pages along with Elite One Championship 2023–2024 could be made properly at a layer date. Mn1548 (talk) 17:48, 13 May 2024 (UTC) wikispecies redirect speedy deletionHi Grahaml35- Thanks for the talk message about the speedy deletion tag on Michael Watkins (zoologist). I don't have strong feelings about the page either way and would be perfectly fine with it being deleted, but I don't believe that it meets the speedy deletion criteria (if it does, though, I would like to learn more to avoid the problem in the future). Wikipedia:Soft redirect says that soft redirects are not subject to the A1/A3 criteria. I know Wikipedia:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS isn't really a valid argument, but Category:Redirects to Wikispecies has quite a few examples, and I don't see if/how this is different from those. I do see that the template was removed after your edit by Queen of Hearts. Does that mean that it will not be deleted? As some basic context/background. I was working on fixing incoming links to disambiguation pages at WP:DPWL when I saw two articles linking to Michael Watkins in references (see, for example, Lubuya). This Michael Watkins is one of three authors of a very commonly-cited reptile reference book. I noticed that the other two authors, Bo Beolens and Michael Grayson, had these soft redirects to wikispecies (the authors of the other reference in the Lubuya article also have this sort of redirect). I had never seen this format before, so I wasn't not sure of the appropriate uses of it, but I figured that it could be helpful to add it for Watkins as well. (as a note, when I checked what was linking to Michael Watkins (zoologist), I saw that there were more than 300 redlinks, even before I added the 2 new ones yesterday).
