Use Your Illusion Tour adalah tur konser oleh band hard rock Guns N Roses yang berlangsung sejak 20 Januari 1991 sampai 17 Juli 1993. Itu bukan hanya tur band terpanjang, tapi salah satu tur konser terpanjang dalam sejarah musik rock, yang terdiri dari 194 pertunjukkan di 27 negara. Itu juga merupakan sumber keburukan banyak untuk band, karena kerusuhan, mulai akhir, pembatalan dan kehebohan yang blak-blakan oleh vokalis Axl Rose.

Sejarah

Dalam Use Your Illusion World Tours termasuk juga solo gitar Slash yang membawakan The God Father Theme, sebuah permainan piano dari Axl dengan membawakan cover dari Black Sabbath yang berjudul It’s Alright. Dan perluasan permainan untuk klasik rock yang menginspirasi Move To The City yang di pamerkan Axl dengan penyetelan dan penggabungan beberapa musisi untuk tur ini. Setiap sukses besar yang di raih dalam tur ini terbayar, sering dinaungi media dalam kekacauan, mulai yang telat dan omong besar dari Axl. Sementara isu tentang obat-obat bius yang mereka pakai sudah mereda, Axl sering di hasut oleh lemahnya pihak keamanan. masalah Sound, dan pengambilan film dari kamera yang tidak di inginkannya. Pada 2 Juli 1991, bertempat di Riverport Amphitheatre di Maryland Heights, Missouri, sedikit di luar St. Louis, ketika sedang membawakan Rocket Queen Axl melihat seorang fans sedang merekam dengan kameranya, Axl meminta pihak Security untuk mengambil kamera itu lewat mikrofon, dan beberapa saat kemudian dia memutuskan untuk mengambilnya sendiri dengan melompat ke arah kerumunan. Dia mendapat konfrontasi yang panas dengan para fan sebelum akhirnya mereka menyerang Axl. Setelah di tarik dari kerumunan oleh anggota Crew, Rose bilang “Baiklah, terima kasih untuk para keamanan yang pincang, saya pulang!”, membanting mikrofonnya dan mengabaikan panggung. Kerumunan yang marah mulai membuat kekacauan, dan banyak yang mengalami kecelakaan gara-gara hal tersebut. Foto-foto tentang hal itu diambil oleh Robert John, yang memang bertugas mendokumentasikan seluruh tur itu untuk band. Rose di tuntut karena telah menghasut kerusuhan, tetapi polisi tidak bisa menahannya hampir setahun kemudian, karena band terus melakukan tur. tuntutan telah di jatuhkan padanya, tetapi hakim bilang dia tidak secara langsung menghasut kekacauan. Akibatnya, pada artwork Use Your illusion terbersit sebuah kata-kata di barisan Thank You to about : “Fuck You St. Louis!”

Setelah kejadian di St Louis, dan nyaris di bentangkan di Jerman, pemain gitar rhtym Izzy Stradlin tiba-tiba saja mengundurkan diri. Dia mengutip bahwa dua kebiasaan burukk Axl yaitu: suka menunda nunda show dan manajemen band nya yang salah. Izzy juga merasa kesulitan berada di sekitar Slash, Sorum dan McKaggan seiring dengan telah ditemukannya ketenangan hatinya sementara itu mereka tetap memakai dan kecanduan mereka terhadap obat bius makin parah. Sebenarnya Axl Rose menginginkan Dave Navarro dari gitaris Jane addiction untuk menggantikan posisi Izzy, tapi keburu diganti oleh Gilby Clarke yang di sarankan oleh Slash. Selama beberapa show sepanjang tur, Axl selalu memperkenalkan Gilby Clarke dan membiarkan dia memainkan “Wild Horses” lagu Cover dari The Rolling Stones dengan Slash. Pada tahun 1992, GnR tampil di acara tribute to Freddie Mercury, membawaakan dua set lagu, Slash kemudian tampil bareng dengan sisa anggota Queen dan vokalis Def Leppard Joe Elliot membawakan Tie Your Mother Down, sementara itu Axl Rose membawakan We Will Rock You dan bernyanyi duet dengan Elton John membawakan Bohemian Rapshody. Lagu mereka sendiri yang mereka bawakan adalah Paradise City dan Knockin’ on Heaven door. Ketika mereka kembali ke Amerika untuk melanjutkan tur, Brian May membuka pertunjukan dan juga Cozy Powell pada Drum. Axl sebenarnya ingin membawa band grunge ( yang juga satu label dengan mereka ) yaitu Nirvana untuk menjadi band pembuka tur mereka, namun orang nomor satu di Nirvana menolaknya. Cobain juga membuat beberapa komen negatif tenteng GnR yang memancing permusuhan pribadi dengan mereka disamping begitu juga dengan anggota band yang lain.

Kemudian dalam tahun yang sama mereka memulai tur mini antara GNR-METALLICA stadium tur dengan band Metal asal Amerika Juga yaitu Metallica. Selama pertunjukan di buan agustus 1992, di Montreal’s Olympic Stadium, vokalis Metallica, James Hetfield mengalami kecelakaan luka bakar setelah melangkah terlalu dekat dengan ledakan kembang api untuk panggung. Metallica terpaksa menunda jam berikutnya dari penampilan mereka, tetapi mereka berjanji akan kembali ke kota itu untuk pertunjukan yang lain. Setelah penundaan yang cukup lama, dan para penonton sudah mulai bosan, GnR mengambil alih panggung. Bagaimanapun, dalam jangka waktu yang pendek tidak cukup untuk melakukan penyetelan set monitor panggung, menyebabkan musisi yang naik ke panggung itu tidak bisa mendengar permainan mereka sendiri. ditambah lagi setelan tersebut membuat tenggorokan Axl jadi sakit, yang menyebabkan band meninggalkan panggung lebih awal.
