Mifter (talk) 00:01, 6 April 2017 (UTC) The Fokker Scourge articleI am having a few problems with an enthusiastic but at times very dogmatic editorial colleague on the Fokker Scourge article. In fact, things have reached a pass where some second opinions might be useful. The specific question he is hammering at the moment is that we shouldn't ever say "No. 1 Squadron RAF" (in spite of that being the usual way of putting it) but "1 Squadron" (on the grounds that the "No." is redundant). I wouldn't object to an occasional omission of the "No.", if only for elegant variation, but he has been going right through the article wiping every instance and claiming that "Wikipedia is not a source" (which is true enough, but nothing to do with the case). The gentleman concerned has been making dozens of other (mostly very pettifogging) changes to the article - a few have been genuine improvements, and most at least acceptable alternatives but some of have made clear text obscure, even meaningless. I have let everything he has done that is at all acceptable stand, but the really bad ones I've had to change - usually with a new version rather than a provocative revert. I was wondering, if you have a moment, if you'd like to have a little look at the Fokker Scourge talk page (go straight to the bottom if you like) and tell me, either here, on my talk page, or even on the talk page of the article if you want to actually buy into the discussion, if I'm being totally unreasonable and should just give up. This is (for a WWI aviation article) quite a high traffic one - and I'd like to leave it in reasonable shape. At least readable, and plain in meaning (two things I value far above brevity for its own sake). --Soundofmusicals (talk) 01:22, 23 July 2017 (UTC) 103) DYK for Jagdgeschwader IIOn 25 January 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Jagdgeschwader II, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. I have nonetheless run into a bit of conflict with someone with interests from "a later war" who disputes this - perhaps on the authority of works documenting more modern "oleo struts". I can't find it anywhere else and was surprised about the term as well, but I am not knowledgeable about the topic. It has apparently already been discussed at Talk:Flying_ace and Talk:Flying_ace/Archive_1#Translation_of_the_word_.22.C3.9Cberkanone.22. Today, Hamilton McWhorter III is linked from the Main Page, in "Did you know?", prominently, with an image of a golden medal. Djmaschek (talk) 19:31, 13 April 2021 (UTC) May 2021: The very recalcitrant user you mentionedShort of an actual troll or vandal, I have never before seen such a stubborn user as User:DagneyGirl on Wikipedia. The manner in which they protest in fractured English and then conclude with "so be it" is indicative of an inability to work with others. I hope you and the various editors who take exception to their attitude, communication and editing habits are able to have them censured. Such behavior would have normally incurred at least one block by now.--Quisqualis (talk) 20:33, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

theaerodrome.comHi, I pinged you in my reply to the message you left on my start page, but perhaps that didn't show up for you. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this discussion regarding theaerodrome.com as you previously stated that "I've been explaining this every few months for the last decade". -Ljleppan (talk) 08:03, 9 November 2021 (UTC) Hey there, I've looked a bit more into Hefty's name being 'Friedrich' or 'Frigyes'. I found the following: in the book "Austro-Hungarian Albatros Aces of World War 1" he appears with the name 'Friedrich' and I've also found a newspaper article from the Detroit Free Press from 1965 talking about his death, and there he is also mentioned with the name 'Friedrich' (well technically, he's mentioned as 'Frederik'). However, in his book "Repülők előre!" that he wrote in 1940, he appears as 'Hefty Frigyes' (Hungarian way of writing the name, with the surname before the first name). So it does seem that he used both versions of his name, but still couldn't find what his exact birth name was. But I do think this should be mentioned in the article, maybe as a note that he used both 'Friedrich' and 'Frigyes'? Oswald BoelckeI just noticed that the FAC for Oswald Boelcke has been archived for lack of reviews; I would definitely have taken a look, and probably supported again, if I'd noticed it. Sorry about that -- that would have prevented it being archived, at least for a while. If you decide to nominate it again, please let me know -- it's perfectly neutral to let prior reviewers know that an article is at FAC again. SigmaWanted to drop you a note about the Sigma War Games article. I found it utterly fascinating, and was surprised I had never heard of it before, given my interests. It appears the US managed what the games suggested would be among the best possible outcomes - stalemate followed by war weariness and increasing public opposition. But the whole thing... they themselves concluded they would lose almost every time but went in anyway to attack their former ally who was already signalling their interest in a deal. WOW. This story should be much better known than it appears to be. Maury Markowitz (talk) 14:35, 30 June 2023 (UTC) Would you consider becoming a New Page Reviewer?
