Just as a help to us, if you create or find any hockey related pages that don't have the Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey tag on their talk pages, could you add it? {{ice hockey}}
(just as it looks here, not how it shows in 'edit' mode for this page).

Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil17:11, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
How do hyphenated nationalities work?
Hi Canuck85,
With regards to hyphenated nationalities, is it (place of birth/ethnic origin)-(place of residence), or can it be the other way around?
Hi, again. I don t understand why you ve put this cat page back under this supra-cat page - these people are New Zealanders of Canadian descent and the supra-cat lists Canadians of other various descents. i m gonna reverse the change again Mayumashu13:48, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again, you were right about Des Smith being a former NHL player. However you had him wiki-linked to the wrong Des Smith. I corrected the wiki-link. Sorry to have bugged you. GoodDay17:46, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Alfred Young (cricket), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Cecil Sturgeon has been proposed for deletion. An editor felt this person might not be notable enough for an article. Please review Wikipedia:Notability (people) for the relevant guidelines. If you can improve the article to address these concerns, please do so.
If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the "prod" template, the article may be deleted without further discussion. If you remove the prod template, the article will not be deleted, but if an editor is still not satisfied that it meets Wikipedia guidelines, it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Dave Davidson, by Tecmobowl, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Dave Davidson seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Dave Davidson, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Dave Davidson itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 205:49, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject NASCAR
I notice that you've create several NASCAR related articles. You are welcome to join me in Wikipedia:WikiProject NASCAR. I am way up north (nort), but it's ok if you're north of the border. Thanks for your contributions in any case! Royalbroil20:52, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please add the stub template {{NASCAR-bio-stub}} for stub (short) biographies of NASCAR drivers. You can also add any driver with at least one start in one of the big three NASCAR series to the WikiProject by adding the following to their talk page: {{WikiProject NASCAR|class=stub|importance=low}} . If they are larger than stub you can replace "stub" with "start". I doubt there are any NASCAR drivers without an article who are above "low" importance. All people should get the biography disclaimer on their talk page which is {{WPBiography|living=yes|class=stub}} . Replace "yes" with "no" if they are dead. Royalbroil18:37, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Canuck85! You are receiving this newsletter because you have signed up as a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey. The purpose of this newsletter is to update on the goings on of the project, as there have been major changes, and a lot of new recognized content in the past few weeks. If you are an inactive user, you probably won't recognize the new and improved state of the WikiProject!
In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt.
This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES.

After discussion on the WikiProject talk page, Serte created a page for Requested Images. The page encourages users to license images for use on articles. The page also has section to request images for players, arenas, game situations, miscellaneous, and team and league logos. The page has been quite popular; since it was created on July 21, there have been six completed requests. There are four currently outstanding requests:

On July 12, Kaiser matias announced that he had completed assessing all the articles with a {{ice hockey}} tag, sorting them into Category:Unassessed Ice Hockey articles. Kaiser matias has ranked about 9000 articles in that category, and most were stubs, and "have no information at all", according to him. Everybody is encouraged to expand the stubs into real articles. This effort took around 5 months. A big thanks goes to Kaiser matias from me and all the project.

I totally agree with Croat Canuck. Love the stubs. Only thing you might want to do is actually mark them as stubs so that those of us who expand articles can see that they need expanding. --Djsasso21:56, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Canuck85! You are receiving as you are a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey There's been more new thing going on at WP:HOCKEY, and I think this will help you to stay informed. Since the last newsletter sent out in August, there's been great changes. Read on to find out! Maxim(talk)
Especially due to the featured topic drive, there have been many new featured lists promoted concerning NHL awards. Here's the full list of all the 13 FL's promoted since the last newsletter.[1][2]
^The last one, List of Calgary Flames players, is the only one not associated with the featured topic drive.
^At the time of publishing, there were 5 lists at WP:FLC and 2 lists in the "Holding cell", as there's been an accepted guideline to not put more that 5 trophy lists at the same time to, "compensate for the sanity of the reviewers".
Check the project page if you are interested in helping out. Although it's closer to being done than not, there's still work to be done. The next topic that might be tackled is Stanley Cup, but this remains purely speculative and in discussion.
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Albert's Family Restaurant, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. all articles which have a Saskatchewan related stub Saskatchewan-politician-stub / Saskatchewan-stub / Saskatchewan-geo-stub to be tagged in their talk pages for wikiproject Saskatchewan and be classified as stub as such: {{WikiProject Canada |sk =yes | class=stub| importance=}}
add GA or FA to to the class parameter of {{WikiProject Canada}} articles if any other template has such a parameter value on the talk page.
add stub to the class parameter if a stub tag is present on the article page.

add to the class area FL for any Featured-class lists articles if any other template has such a parameter value on the talk page.

Develop top importance articles about Saskatchewan such as those about crown corporations. the provincial government and its several departments. From the Saskatchewan wiki meeting held back on 23 June 2007 it was discussed to develop an article on Health in Saskatchewan, and to improve to feature status articles: Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Regina.
The University of Saskatchewan became a good article to celebrate the 2007 anniversary of campus, and should now have a peer reveiw to continue on to becoming a feature article. The List of University of Saskatchewan alumni was developed to assist this article and help would be appreciated providing citations for each entry, and to help add to the list.

Just as there is only one image needed for upload for Saskatchewan locator maps, and then various towns can be updated upon this image. So, too there should be a highway picture template, so that the various numbered highways 1, 33, 34, 58, 913, 914, etc can all have their own image without needing to create a bizzilion numbered images online.
2004 Election
Our 2004 Saskatchewan election has resulted in an amazing number of politician biographies coming online! This was an awesome achievement, and something to be proud of!
Qyd (talk·contribs) and Arctic.gnome (talk·contribs) are editors of a wide variety of Canadian related articles, and of note as of this date is the enormous amount of work they have undertaken to help amalgamate all the various provincial wikiprojects and Canadian sub projects into one umbrella assessment department. This unique assessment department means that Saskatchewan related articles can be assessed for their own provincial merit, and also belong to the Canadian wikiproject as well. It also means that editors from both Canada wikiproject and Saskatchewan wikiproject can unite in their efforts to provide banners and ratings to articles. This will result in a huge improvement in quality on wikipedia, resulting in Saskatchewan's spotlight award for Qyd (talk·contribs). January 2008 newsletter Please pop into the Spotlight Department and read all the brief introductory Wikipedia Saskatchewan bio. Congratulations are sent out to Qyd (talk·contribs)] and Arctic.gnome (talk·contribs) at this time.

Just as panic begins to settle in as to what in the world the next newsletter should mention, new areas of development and growth come about. The coming year of 2008 should provide not only more Saskatchewan articles, but also more articles with higher ratings with the assistance of more editors, and a new assessment department umbrella. The highways and roads project has given a good base for development, and to strengthen the presence and notability of roads and highways and effort is being called upon to help these articles improve, now that they too are under the assessment umbrella.

Saskatchewan Roads and Highways
The WikiProject Canada Roads is undergoing an overhaul. It is aiming to produce some Good articles and Featured articles of highway content pertaining to Canada, and for the Saskatchewan Roads and Highways for Saskatchewan highways. As Saskatchewan is still a work in progress this is a challenging endeavour for as the guidelines are followed as laid out at either Highway wikiproject, they become red link farms because wikilinked articles have not been developed regarding the communities, provincial and regional parks and rural municipalities which the highways meander through. Please keep apprised of the progress, and if any Saskatchewan articles rise above stub we will list it on the main page.
There is also discussion started about assessment and navigation boxes on the talk page. Please peek in to add any comments you may have.
Recently articles Saskatchewan Highway 1, 33, 34, 58, 913, 914 have been improved, but they need more help so they can become articles nominated as Good articles. Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Jordan Eberle, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. Article Improvement Drive
Article Improvement Drive: Articles can now be assessed, and this is the showing for top rated GA and FA class articles as well as stub articles. Please help rate articles, and contribute to improved status.
There are currently about no Saskatchewan articles at WP:GAN waiting to be reviewed. :-( If you have not considerably edited one of the articles, you can perform a review by following these instructions.
There are currently no Saskatchewan related articles waiting to be assesed for feature article... :-( FACs.
Please help B class articles move into GA class and GA class articles move toward Feature status.
Add content to stub articles to improve their status.
In December there were over 797 articles which needed template changes from the original Saskatchewan talk page banner to the new Canada - provincial talk page banner. This has been completed!!!
Wikiproject Saskatchewan now has 0.5% FA articles 0.22% GA articles, about 5% B class articles, about 35% Start class articles and 68% stub class articles.
Saskatchewan related articles contribute 1,799 / 19,566 articles, or 9.19 % of Canadian related articles!!!
Please help to tag articles! On the assessment page are the actual articles listed which have been tagged with Canadian projects and Saskatchewan content. The result is...please, if you read this, help to tag Saskatchewan sports articles with both Saskatchewan, and Canadian sports project templates checked off as yes! Some sports articles may also need the appropriate general sports wikiproject talk template or a Wikiproject biography talk template as well.
There are 6 articles written which overlap both the 1850 tagged Saskatchewan and the 870 tagged Canadian Music articles.
Canadian Federal Government articles which relate to Saskatchewan are the following 14 articles, a couple of which are rated FA.
The most tagged articles are Saskatchewan communities. Saskatchewan Communities & Neighbourhoods comprise 551 articles - tagged with both the Saskatchewan communities and neighbourhoods template, as well as the new Canadian - provinces template.
The Portal Saskatchewan peer review has produced some excellent suggestions, many of which have been enacted. Some of the portal categories should be added to Saskatchewan wikiproject such as the instructions on how to add content to a box portal concept.
To go forward to apply for PORTAL feature status, 10 articles, 10 biogrphies, 10 images which are qualified as good or feature should be added to the portal in the various areas.
Shanemcd (talk·contribs) has contributed to the organization of which placenames are town, villages, hamlets, etc by going above and beyond the call of duty. Sorting out List of communities in Saskatchewan and the various section lists have shown significant improvements. Consistency and attention to detail on the various incorporation dates, and status of the many and several communities is producing more accurate lists for visitors to wikipedia viewing Saskatchewan articles. This provides an improvement in quality on wikipedia and so a large thank you goes out to Shanemcd at this time.
So the next time you think a user has made a significant contribution, or basically anything else to Saskatchewan related articles, why don't you give them a reward to show your gratitude? Nominate excellent and notable Saskatchewan editors on Wikipedia who deserve attention, and honour. For every wikipedia user who is mentioned in the spotlight department, they will receive a Wikipedia Saskatchewan Ribbon on their user pages for excellent service! Hi Jason. I noticed you are the originator of an article about a professional hockey player named Jack Lancien. I am his grandson and have added some information to the article about his career and personal life. I also have a good photo of him in his hockey uniform I plan to add in the future. Just wanted to say thanks a ton for getting his article started. It inspired me to add more detail and (in a very small way) enrich the Wiki hockey project.
Dear Canuck85! You are receiving as you are a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey There's been many more new things going on at WP:HOCKEY; this newsletter will be sent every two weeks/months.

There has been numerous new recognized content, so much that it's too time-consuming to sift through the "trophy cases" on WP:HOCKEY. Some interesting achievements:
2016 NHL Draft has been newly created and has immediately become a GA status article.
We are working to create a new task force within the WikiProject to deal with topics related to the Pittsburgh Penguins. It hasn't been created yet; but it aims to expand articles based on former and current Pittsburgh Penguins players and articles. Good luck!
The original featured topic drive, initiated by Scorpion0422, has concluded succesfully. National Hockey League awards is now a featured topic, with 24 articles in total. Of them, 20 are featured lists, one is a featuredarticle, and the other three are trophy articles that were too short to become featured lists. Eight users signed up to help out, shown here. The next Featured Topic hasn't been decided upon, and the ideas and organization for it fell apart. If you have any ideas, don't hesitate to share them at WT:HOCKEY.
More editors are needed to help out with the newsletter. The newsletter creator doesn't have an infinite nor perfect supply of ideas, and thus he might omit some interesting news.
Prairieland Park has received some notability tags and etc., as you have been a contributing editor can you read what they concern, and help to revise the article so it doesn't get deleted? There are quite a few Canadian articles being listed by notability concerns...notability listing Thank youSriMesh | talk01:58, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice
Hi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.
A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.
We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! Individual categories for each rural municipality are being created. It would be good to gather consensus as to which articles should be tagged with an individual RM category. The places names which an RM provides rural government for should be within the individual category for the RM. However, should these areas also be added into the individual RM category: political divisions, points of interest, notable people from the RM, towns with their own urban governments which host the RM office? Add your comments.

Given that a road will have numerous coordinates, what sort of coordinates should be defined for Canadian road articles, if any? Terminus points, perhaps control cities would be obvious candidates. Saskatchewan photographs
when you are traveling or looking through old pictures, if there are any of Saskatchewan roads, highways or Saskatchewan highway signs that you would wish to upload to wikimedia commons, it would be appreciated. It would be good to show our highways in various seasons as well as with various geographical terrains. Of especial import when getting involved with photographing highways are junctions, scenic points of interest, historical markers, intersections, divided highways, road crews, historical road crews, historical travel on highways, overpasses, underpasses and road signs showing concurrencies between various highways.
If you have started an article for Saskatchewan, and wikimedia commons does not have a related Saskatchewan image, then place this code on the article's talk page below the banner for Saskatchewan {{reqphotoin|Saskatchewan}} and your request will be added to the above category.
If you have added a request for a map, there are now locator maps for Saskatchewan available which should alleviate some of the requests added at Wikipedia requested maps in Saskatchewan For example see Saskatoon for a locator map in use.
Coordinators and A Class Review
Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.
All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:29, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just to note that ideally all links in that section should go to an ethnography page on the particular group of Coast Salish, or in that case the particular subgroup of the Sto:lo; Seabird Island First Nation, i.e. the band government article is linked in the governments section and should be about the band government only, not so much any ehtnographyy. Btw the official island-linkname is Sea Bird Island (British Columbia); the name is not directly that of seabirds, but of a particular vessel, the Sea Bird, which was one of the earliest Fraser gold rush steamers. What this particular group of Sto:lo call themselves, though, I don't know (i.e. in Halqemeylem), and I don't know if much in the way of ethnographic specifics on them is even available; historically they may be a branch of the Popkums or Skways or another group and are only, as a group, a creation of the Indian Act. the Sto:lo Coast Salish Historical Atlas may have some details though...not that writing aboriginal articles is your thing, just noting the distinction between the article in the island and the preferred one on the indigenous people who live there (the Indian Reserve article/title can probably be a redirect to the island, I think the whole island is one numbered reserve, not even two or three collectively known as "the Seabird Reserve", but not your worry, I'll figure it out at some point.... .Skookum1 (talk) 13:36, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Biographies
With father's day upcoming, focus is on writing up some biographies on some notable Saskatchewan people. Please categorise these with one of the sub categories from Category:People from Saskatchewan and use the talk page banner and check off Saskatchewan=yes as biographies are harder to trace for inclusion than other Saskatchewan titular articles. With such categories-banners being used, the articles are more likely to be found and expanded by other Saskatchewan users. Take some time to find biographies of Saskatchewan folk on wikipedia currently and categorise-banner them as well.

Labour Day & Saskatchewan's Anniversary Article Drive
Labour Day is Monday September 1, and Saskatchewan celebrates its 104 anniversary of joining confederation on September 4, 1905. Goal would be to improve the Saskatchewan article to feature status or add main Saskatchewan topical articles or improve topics of Saskatchewan articles.
The Portal:Saskatchewan is undergoing its second anniversary showcasing to the WWW wikipedia articles about Saskatchewan content which have achieved good or featured class criteria. Please add more contributions to wikipedia and to the portal itself. If you have suggestions for the portal or want help with the "box formatting style of programming" drop a note on the portal talk page.
With fall and school starting up this late August and early September, it is time to start or upgrade the various secondary and post secondary education and Higher education in Saskatchewan articles for Saskatchewan or help with requests . Ensure that principals, vice principals, and current curricula and extracurricular activities are accurate for the 2009-2010 school year. Notable changes in curricula and extracurricular activities could be added to a history section. The newest education article seems to be an U of S article on the University of Saskatchewan Physical Activity Complex. List of universities in Canada this article was recently demoted from Featured list status. If anyone can work on this article and the new requirements to get it re-instated this would be awesome.

If there was a collaboration department, then the North-West Rebellion, and its several child articles such as its battles and people would be excellent articles to find references for, expand and achieve GA or FA status. In the words of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Christine Tell who proclaimed, that "the 125th commemoration, in 2010, of the 1885 Northwest Resistance is an excellent opportunity to tell the story of the prairie Métis and First Nations peoples' struggle with Government forces and how it has shaped Canada today."[1]
At this time, as well, the articles Aboriginal peoples in Canada and First Nations are undergoing GA review. For an idea of updating the Northwest Rebellion articles watch these two articles or assist with their upgrade.
Feature articles are being re-called due to a lack of "alt tags" for the images included in the articles, as in the ongoing screening of FA articles; Canada and Territorial evolution of Canada. When beginning or updating a Saskatchewan related article, ensure the use of alt tags, which will save time later when upgrading the article.
Please make use of Wikipedia School and University projects and project instrutions on wikipedia, inform fellow students, classes, or school instructors. Higher education in Saskatchewan, was a part of a project that encompassed higher education in all the provinces and territories of Canada. As well students in public schools have been working on Saskatchewan town articles in the past.

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Quadra Street. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Quadra Street. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Unreferenced BLPs
Hello Canuck85! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 20 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 29 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
Hello and welcome back to the WikiProject Saskatchewan newsletter! I, User:Presidentman, am the new editor. You may see some changes due to the fact it's my first newsletter. I'm just going easy on myself, but it will get more complex as time goes on.

We’re excited to announce that User:Presidentman has joined WikiProject Saskatchewan as our Editor in Chief. Presidentman will oversee editorial content and the Saskatchewan Wikiproject community contributions on the Wikiproject newsletter. Presidentman has also successfully developed the Picture of the Day project and has been active on wikipedia for close to three years in a plethora of projects enriching wikipedia with close to 3,000 contributions. The transition between our old editor and the new has been smoother than any of us could have hoped for — SriMesh wrote their last newsletter article for January, 2010, and Presidentman started up without missing a beat for February 2010. The previous years for SriMesh, the past editor, had been richly rewarding, seeing subscriptions grow, informing interested editors of developments and changes to the Saskatchewan wikipedia community and supporting activities on the Saskatchewan Wikiproject. It is now time for me to move to new writing projects to finish, and further responsibilities which are vying for my attention. Please join me in welcoming Presidentman to the their new position! Presidentman is working on a host of new features and an updated look, which will take things to a new level. It is wonderful to have a new editor to bring in the new year! Expect great things.
Thank you for uploading free images/media to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view previous uploads by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'file' namespace from the drop down box (or see [9]). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
Hello, and welcome to the WikiProject Saskatchewan newsletter. Happy Canada Day to all!

Came here because you made that stub. That may be a colloquial/in-use name for the neighbourhood, but the mountain is....where, exactly? I guess you're meaning in the area of Blue Mountain Road, not sure why that name exists where it is...and I'm guessing if I were to put coordinates on that you're thinking of Blue Mountain and Austin? Or Blue Mountain and Como Lake? There's no name for the upland all that's on, from there to Como Lake, - "Coquitlam Plateau" maybe, but definitely not Blue Mountain (as a mountain). The Blue Mountain in the Lower Mainland is between Alouette Lake and the lower part of Stave Lake, between the Dewdney Trunk and Mount Crickmer and NW of Rolley Lake, see here and note there's another Blue Mountain (mountain) on the west side of Pentiction (here). But there's no Blue Mountain in Coquitlam; the nearest thing within reach is Blueridge, and that's in North Van (and is a community, not a mountain).Skookum1 (talk) 08:09, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to draw your attention to a new article on historic places in Christchurch. On the article's talk page, there is a list of missing photos. Of the 320 items that are registered with the New Zealand Historic Places Trust in the geographic area of Christchurch (excluding Banks Peninsula), there are only 80 registrations that we haven't got photos of. If you have a camera and would like to contribute, have a look what needs doing. Please leave a note on the talk page if you managed to get some photos, or if you know your way around Wikimedia Commons, you could upload them directly (note that it's complicated and I recommend that you start by leaving a note if you've never uploaded to Commons before). Thanks for your consideration! Schwede6605:32, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Hockey Night in Asia, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Esprit (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success. Thank you. --LauraHale (talk) 05:01, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I will be presenting a Wikipedia edit training session on the Gold Coast on Tuesday 25 June, as part of the partnership between Wikimedia Australia and the State Library of Queensland. 10+ new editors will be editing their first article at the session and past experience has shown it’s helpful if there can be at least 2 people present to assist with answering questions. No public speaking is required, just one-on-one assistance with new editors. Your name was mentioned as a possibility as it is believed you live in that region. If you are able to assist, please get in touch with me, preferably by email kerry.raymond@wikimedia.org.au Kerry (talk) 06:08, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
New 10,000 Challenge for Canada
Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Cheers. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I looked at your contribution history to try to find where the move you made, to Ontario Line was discussed, prior to your move.
It looks like you didn't discuss this with anybody. As I noted, on Talk:Ontario Line, this new line has a different route, and will use different rolling stock than the DRL, so, it seems to me your move was very premature. Geo Swan (talk) 21:25, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The 1000 Women in Religion Project is working to improve the coverage of women’s contributions to religious, spiritual and wisdom traditions worldwide. In support of this goal, the edit-a-thon at Atla's (formerly the American Theological Library Association) annual meeting will focus on improving articles about women in religion. We would love to have a few Vancouver area Wikipedians to help us get new editors oriented and editing!!

An article you recently created, Mychal Mulder, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by AngusWOOF was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines for sports persons and athletes). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
The comment the reviewer left was:
Please wait until he plays his first NBA game.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit when they have been resolved.
If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to Draft:Mychal Mulder and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
If you now believe the draft cannot meet Wikipedia's standards or do not wish to progress it further, you may request deletion. Please go to Draft:Mychal Mulder, click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window, add "{{db-self}}" at the top of the draft text and click the blue "publish changes" button to save this edit.
If you do not make any further changes to your draft, in 6 months, it will be considered abandoned and may be deleted.
Hello, Canuck85!
Having an article declined at Articles for Creation can be disappointing. If you are wondering why your article submission was declined, please post a question at the Articles for creation help desk. Hi, I think you posted the first entry for this player and included a date of death of November 20, 1985? I'm just wondering how you got that date. The official Quebec source has February 14, 1985, but I can't find an obit for him using either date. I also am not sure of city of death. The official is Quebec City but you have Drummondville. Can you change the name of Gatineau LRT to Gatineau Tramway? The projected tramway network's official name in French is "Tramway de Gatineau" and consequently its English translation is "Gatineau Tramway". It is not going to be named "Transit léger sur rail de Gatineau" or "TLR de Gatineau", hence Gatineau LRT. (Example: Quebec City Tramway, which is under construction.)

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.
Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellingtonand we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.
