Geographically Quemoy is a small archipelago of six islands, located two to six miles off the coast of Fukien Province on the southeast coast of China. The Nationalists or Free China control four of the islands: Big Quemoy, Little Quemoy, Ta Tan and Erhtan. The Communist Chinese have Chiao Yu and Hsiao Tan.
