Welcome
EpithetsHi Samsam22, welcome to Wikipedia! I do appreciate your contributions to the articles regarding the Mamluks, namely adding epithets. But I think your last changes decreased the readability of the introductions of the related articles. Now I will make some changes on the article Qalawun in order to increase the readability of the introductory section. Please let me know what you think about it. If it suits you too, you can go on like that. Thank you. --Chapultepec 20:43, 8 September 2007 (UTC) reply epithetsHi Chapultepec , thank you for your message. I think no problem as long as the royal epithets is quoted. Many people are confused from the names as many sultans had same epithets. quoting the orginal name then adding the royal names might help. In the case of Qalawun as I was not editing but only adding epithets, some things changed because orginal editor added lines for various ways to spell the name. I think the best is to quote the orginal name first then add the epithets so that it be clear and standared in all articles. Samsam22 21:34, 8 September 2007 (UTC) So let's decide here, I have given some specimens infra:
Epithet: al-Malik al-Mansour Saif al-Din Qalawun al-Alfi al-Salihi al-Najmi al-Ala'i (Arabic: الملك المنصور سيف الدين قلاوون الألفى الصالحى النجمى العلاءى) Qalawun al-Alfi (also Qala'un or Kalavun) (Arabic: قلاوون الألفى) (c. 1222 – November 10, 1290) was a Mamluk sultan of Egypt. He was in the Bahri line and ruled Egypt from 1279 to 1290.
Qalawun al-Alfi (also Qala'un or Kalavun) (Arabic: قلاوون الألفى) (c. 1222 – November 10, 1290) (Epithet: al-Malik al-Mansour Saif al-Din Qalawun al-Alfi al-Salihi al-Najmi al-Ala'i (Arabic: الملك المنصور سيف الدين قلاوون الألفى الصالحى النجمى العلاءى)) was a Mamluk sultan of Egypt. He was in the Bahri line and ruled Egypt from 1279 to 1290.
Qalawun al-Alfi (also Qala'un or Kalavun) (Arabic: قلاوون الألفى) (c. 1222 – November 10, 1290) was a Mamluk sultan of Egypt. He was in the Bahri line and ruled Egypt from 1279 to 1290. Epithet: al-Malik al-Mansour Saif al-Din Qalawun al-Alfi al-Salihi al-Najmi al-Ala'i (Arabic: الملك المنصور سيف الدين قلاوون الألفى الصالحى النجمى العلاءى) Which one is approprate in your opinion?
=I think #2 looks good.

This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. Now it's your turn in the article :) --Chapultepec (talk) 22:49, 6 December 2007 (UTC) Of course, no problem, this can be mentioned later within the context of the article. --Chapultepec (talk) 22:59, 6 December 2007 (UTC) I think a sub-section titled "rise to power" can be suitable for that paragraph, so we can divide the biography section into major sub-sections like "early life", "rise to power" etc. --Chapultepec (talk) 23:22, 6 December 2007 (UTC) It seems great, thank you ! --Chapultepec (talk) 22:16, 7 December 2007 (UTC) I made minor edits only. I've been condensing Arabic names at the beginning of articles - rather than have, for example "Baibars al-Bunduqdari, known as al-Malik etc etc", I thought it would be easier to say "al-Malik etc...Baibars..." all at once. I know most of the words are not actually part of his name, but are rather his name and titles, but it seems more appropriate to put them all in the first sentence. Also, I've been changing English transliterations to something that appears more standard, at least to my eyes. So, instead of "Abu Alfitooh" I put "Abu al-Fituh", which looks more like transliterated Arabic to me and matches the actual Arabic better. I wanted to mention this because I assume you are a native Arabic speaker, so you would know better than me! Adam Bishop (talk) 20:57, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Saif ad-Din Abu-BakrI have nominated Saif ad-Din Abu-Bakr, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Saif ad-Din Abu-Bakr. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. I understand and of course I agree - I like to write neutrally about the crusades as well. I do not think they were good or bad, I just think they were interesting. Black africans of mamluk armyHi my friend! Black africans had been served in the armies of dynasties in Egypt since ancinet times. So I have a question to ask you. I wonder whether native africans were among mamluk army and involved the battles against Mongols. I guess they were served for mamluks because Baybars invaded deep into Africa. Shihab ad-Din AhmadI was reading about the Manluk sultans and saw that you had deleted most of the article about Shihab ad-Din Ahmad because "I was told primary sources are not allowed." That doesn't seem right to me. What were you told? It seems to be that all you really need to do is preface the information by saying "The following is told by X____ about Shihab ad-Din Ahmad's journey to Cairo" or "As told by X____, Shihab ad-Din Ahmad ..." The Background section at least looks fine and you found the information from various secondary sources like books on the history of Egypt. With some clean up (I can tell English isn't your first language) and direct citation (citing each fact with a reference instead of just having them at the bottom), the article could be fine and non-controversial. March Madness 2017G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement. The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also. The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now. For the Milhist co-ordinators.
