Ali pageHi Sa.vakilian Hi During the last few months, I had some time off, so I looked at the pages relating to Islam on wikipedia. Over the last few years, a lot of incorrect material against Islam has built up on Wikipedia. I went through thousands of books in the London School of Oriental and African Studies library and on the internet. Looked through Sunni, Shia and the Roman books from that period. There is a lot of material on Wikipedia about Islam that is totally incorrect. One just has to look at the pages "Islamic views on slavery", "Muhammad and slavery" and "Ma malakat aymanukum". Even people Muhammad cared for deeply and provided for through the Bait Al Mall charity have been presented as slaves on wikipedia. Unfortunately the Muslims on Wikipedia spend more time fighting each other and discrediting people from the early history of Islam like Ali and Abu Bakr than they do actually going through wikipedia and correcting the incorrect material on Wikipedia that is in many cases totally incorrect and against Islam. In the process, unfortunately these arguments, give Muhammad and Islam a very bad name. I looked into Ali's family and Abu Bakrs family and realised that many early Scholars like Jafar al Sadiq and Qasim his grandfather from his mother side are as much related to Ali as they are to Abu Bakr. Ali even raised Abu Bakrs son Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr. Muslims are best off showing Ali's knowledge on the Ali's page and his scholarly achievements and his character. Fights between the Shias and the Sunnis give a very bad impression of Ali, Muhammad and Islam. The same is true on all the other Islam pages. Pushing sectarian views just gives a bad impression of Islam. Many of these views are based on history books written hundreds of years after the events and are exaggerated. Even Al Tabri and Nahj al-Balagha were history book written 300 years later. People ignore the Quran but concentrate on history books that were written 300 years later. Many of the conflicts on wikipedia are over the land at Fadak. Considering the level of resistance Muhammad was having at the time, I am sure many people at the time of Muhammad would have been saying Muhammad invented a religion to enrich his family. He took away the land from the Jews in Madina and gave it to his family members. Many people these days would then have said the same. You only get a complete picture once you read through the Sunni, Shia and the Roman books from the period. It was a tragic story of the Arabs going into Syria and Iraq that had just gone through the Byzantine-Sassanid Wars. Many people in Syria and Iraq hated each other. After going in, the Arabs from the desert started getting tempted by money and wealth in Syria and Iraq. What started as a small thing of Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr showing the Egyptians the house of Authman ended with Marwan and the Kawarij manipulating every one and a huge loss of life. Cousins fighting one another. Ali had a very difficult situation on his hand. Just image what was going through the minds of Hassan and Husein. Its a very tragic story, a lesson to all of us, a choice between Money and children or God. Aisha later realised she had been manipulated. When Marwan became the governor of Madina you could see the tensions between Aisha and Marwan. Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr and Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr were both killed by the umayyads. Later there were very close links between Abu Bakrs family and Alis family. Jafar al sadiq is a result of that. Its better to make the effort and find the truth, even if it hurts ones views and is contrary to ones views. If you have some time please look at the pages "Islamic views on slavery", "Muhammad and slavery" and "Ma malakat aymanukum". Try to be more constructive. We could change the future but not the past. It may not sound like a lot but considering that that was raised just because we reviewed articles, I would say that's pretty good! The Twelve Imams are the spiritual and political successors to the Islamic prophet Muhammad in the Twelver branch of Shia Islam. According to the theology of Twelvers, the Twelve Imams are infallible human individuals who not only ruled over the community with justice, but also were able to keep and interpret sharia. It is believed by Twelver Shia Muslims that the Twelve Imams were foretold in the Hadith of the Twelve Successors. The Imams were guided by secret texts in their possession, such as al-Jafr and al-Jamia. Ali (calligraphy pictured) was the first of the Twelve Imams, and, in the Twelvers' view, the rightful successor to Muhammad, followed by male descendants of Muhammad through his daughter Fatimah. Each Imam was the son of the previous Imam, with the exception of Husayn ibn Ali, who was the brother of Hasan ibn Ali. The twelfth and final Imam is Muhammad al-Mahdi, who is believed by the Twelvers to be currently alive, and hidden in the Major Occultation until he returns to bring justice to the world. All of the Imams met unnatural deaths, with the exception of the last Imam.

Source you added years agoSalam alaikum man, this might make you laugh. Seven years ago, you added a source by Fred Astren at Islamization of Iran but there is no title or ISBN number. I am working on an article about the Abbasid Revolution now and I have a feeling whatever that book is, it would probably be valuable. Jafar PanahiHello, A while back I was working on the Jafar Panahi page. As far as I know there is no full biography on Panahi so the article is a bit limited. The one section in the article that was already very large when I started working on it and that I have not significantly contributed to relates to his political imprisonment beginning in 2010. In my opinion this section needs a lot of work and clarification. I am not sure if all of the information is up to date and accurate and am concerned that it may currently be misleading. Wahhabism and ISISI have moved my response to you here from Mhhossein's page, as I didn't want to clutter her page up! I don't mind you intervening at all, every contribution is welcome. Basically I only copy-edit in Wikipedia, though I do check footnotes quite a lot (presently wading through the ISIS ones as you will see from the View History pages!). I haven't looked at the references in the ISIS article yet that are supposed to support the Wahhabism claim, mainly because I have steered clear of the subject as well beyond my expertise and knowledge. As I am cleaning up the footnotes in the ISIS article, I will have a look at this now, and those that don't support I will tag. As for the other article, on Wahhabism, what you say doesn't surprise me. Quite a lot of Wiki article footnotes don't support claims in the text, and this can go unnoticed and unrectified, sometimes for years, in my experience, going by the retrieval dates. Doubtless readers who do notice just say, "Well, it's Wikipedia, what can you expect?" Depressing. I think I had better not get into the whys and wherefores of ISIS's links with Wahhabism, but thanks for the information you gave. --P123ct1 (talk) 15:27, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
Islamic State and ISISOn another point, I notice you speak Arabic, so perhaps you can help answer a question which is proving to be a bone of contention between me and another editor, who can speak Arabic (I can't). It's on the same article, ISIS, which I've noticed you have edited as well. What do ISIS now call themselves, "The Islamic State" or "Islamic State"? I haven't trawled through all the footnotes, but notice there are discrepancies in some of the articles in English. I came across a translation from the Arabic in one footnote (you click on a link for the English) and it says "Islamic State" without the "The". My adversary (!) insists the translation should be "The Islamic State" and Werldweyd(sp?) I notice once said the translation from the Arabic is "The Islamic State". I noticed there was once an unresolved dispute about this in the al-Baghdadi article as well. I do know "al" means "the", but beyond that I know nothing. What is the correct name, do you know? It would be nice to straighten this out as the ISIS article is hopelessly at sea on this, both versions are dotted throughout it. --P123ct1 (talk) 15:27, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
Seyyed: I think I understand now why you didn't think it mattered whether it was "the Islamic State" or "The Islamic State". I don't think Arabic makes the distinction in names of organisations, publications, etc between "the" and "The". In English a big fuss is made of this (as I know from my former employment). For example, one newspaper is called "The Times", never the "Times", and another is called "The Daily Telegraph", never the "Daily Telegraph". So I don't think it matters whether the ISIS article calls it "The Islamic State" or "the Islamic State", as you said, but there will need to be consistency in the article, one or the other, and I will handle that. --P123ct1 (talk) 14:12, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

Let's Improve The Fourteen InfalliblesSalam Alaykom seyyed. I'm going to improve the The Fourteen Infallibles, hence I've prepared a new background in my sub-page, which is a combination of the old back ground and recently gathered materials by me. But, unfortunately, I don't know which parts should be omitted because outcome is a rather long text consisted of 6 paragraphs !. Please help by omitting unnecessary parts. WikiProject Good articles Future GAN Backlog DriveHello everyone! Hope you've all been having a great summer! TheQ Editor recently proposed the idea of having another Backlog Drive in either September/October or November/December of this year. For those of you who have participated in the past two drives you know I was the one who organized them, however, come September, this will be my most important year in school so I will not be able to coordinate this drive (if it happens). TheQ Editor has volunteered to be a coordinator for the drive. If any of you would like to co-coordinator, please notify TheQ Editor on his talk page. If you would be interested in participating in a Backlog Drive sometime before the end of this year, please notify TheQ Editor. Also, make sure to specify what month(s) work best for you. At the time this message was sent out, the backlog was at 520 nominations. Since May, the backlog has been steadily increasing and we are currently near an all time high. Even though the backlog will not disappear over one drive, this drive can lead to several others which will (hopefully) lead to the day where there is no longer a backlog. Because of that, me (Dom497), Figureskatingfan, and TheQ Editor have worked on an idea that could possibly finally put a dent into the massive backlog. Now, I will admit, the idea isn't entirely ours as we have took the general idea of the WikiCup and brought it over to WikiProject Good Articles. But anyways, here's what we have in mind: For all of you that do not know what the WikiCup is, it is an annual competition between several editors to see who can get the most Good Articles, Featured Article's, Did You Know's, etc. Based of this, we propose to you the GA Cup. This competition will only focus on reviewing Good articles. For more info on the proposal, click here. As a FYI, the proposal page is not what the final product will look like (if you do go ahead with this idea). It will look very similar to WikiCup's page(s). ConsultI have recently encountered an aggressive editor who insults me and my religion and makes personal attacks, and I would like your advice on how to handle this, please. 1- here, this editor, Andres Feder, insisted on insulting religion by repeating the phrase "degenerate religious thinking", and here by referring to “all religious fiction” and saying that "all religious texts are fictional", even when I told him that Wikipedia does not care what our beliefs are. He further insulted me by saying, "You can believe in whatever figments of imagination you want!", after which I warned him and asked him to respect the beliefs of others. 2- He always pretends that I am upset because of the policies, but I try to respect the policies and his behavior has irritated me.

However, you use negative prejudice, as if you are certain that Mhhossein wants to propagate his religious views. You could use polite manner instead of saying "teachings which are all religious fiction"[11] and [12]. You completely neglected most of Wikipedia:Civility. You could have said, "I disagree with you about the religious ideas and teachings and Wikipedia does not consider religious texts as reliable academic sources." When you attacked directly to all religious ideas instead of what is necessary for the article, then Mhhossien was obliged to defend them [13]. At this time, the discussion was far from what could improve the article. I fully concede that you thought you were doing the right thing: Sajed.IR did (and still does) state that all its content is available under the GFDL. Unfortunately, the people running Sajed.IR did such a slipshod job of maintaining the necessary provenance details that it's impossible to tell whether or not they actually had the copyright to any of the images, and therefore whether the release was legitimate. (And in fact, on at least one occasion, they "released" photos that were actually owned by the BBC.) So we can't trust Sajed.IR's statements that their content is GFDL-available, and thus all the images you uploaded because you thought they were free, have to be deleted. At this article, a wahhabi muslim had been considered as sunni muslim and concludes that the Shia and Sunni don't have good relations, but in fact shia and wahhabi muslims don't have good relations. I think that should make a difference between sunni and wahhabi, because at recent years we see unity between shia and sunni in many muslim countries. For example, we see this sentence at that article :"Some tension developed between Sunnis and Shia as a result of clashes over Iranian pilgrims and Saudi police at the hajj". The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement. The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. Brother, I recently created Wikiproject Centre of Muslims. It is created to improve the articles about places with more than 80% of Muslim Population. After sometime the percentage could be reduced to 50% (places with majority Muslim Population). Similar wikiprojects are working like in the case of [Australia], The only difference is that their scope is countrywide and scope of this Wikiproject is larger, i.e Muslim World. It was put on Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Centre of Muslims because of solo participant. Someone also asked that "Would Wikipedia:WikiProject Islam be interested in this project as a Geography task force?" and I think that Centre of Muslims project should be merged with Wikipedia:WikiProject Islam's Geography task force.
