Since the German GP is going to alternate between the two circuits, Hockenheim isn't really a "former" circuit, now, is it? I suggest the template reads like this:

I take your point, but I think it's clearer/simpler if we leave it as is. The top list is essentially "2007 circuits" and the other list is "all the rest". I take your point, but I think it's kind of a PITA to have to edit the template every year when the status quo isn't really changing. Moreover, I'm in favor of removing the year number from the top list. I realise that the Österreichring and the A1-Ring are the same place, but I think both should be listed in the template, because both names were used when the circuit hosted Formula One races, and the names are very different and people who don't know that they are the same place might wonder why the Österreichring isn't listed. Noting that it's one of the few cases where the circuit is always referred to by name rather than location. Thoughts? Notice articles have been added to this template for the new Russian and Phillippine Grand Prix Circuit, only not to circuit articles, but to host cities - the articles have no information beyond one sentence on formula one. I think that we should list the 2012 US GP track as 'Austin' rather than the 'Circuit of the Americas'. This name is too long compared to the other tracks, and we use short-hand names for other tracks (Montreal instead of Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Interlagos instead of Autódromo José Carlos Pace etc.)

I think either use full names for all tracks, or none of them. I think the New Jersey circuit should be kept as "Port Imperial", as there are sources on the circuit page that support that being the name, and it's not much longer than "New Jersey" (three extra letters), unlike Austin/Circuit of the Americas, as detailed above. I'd go with WP:COMMONNAME :-) I can see how New Jersey is more descriptive to the uninformed (including me until two minutes ago) as more people will have heard of the state than the, er, port? It's unclear what the criteria for inclusion in this part of the template is. The Disneyland Paris article makes no mention of any proposed motor circuit or Formula One event. Having read through some old Motor Sport magazine articles I am aware that a street circuit in Rome appeared on the 1985 schedule as the host of the European Grand Prix, before being replaced with Brands Hatch, but that venue wasn't so much rejected as it was simply non-existent. I believe Fuengirola is in a similar situation, with a race having appeared on the schedule at some point in the 1980s before also proving to be vapourware, and the Fuengirola article makes no mention of any such proposal. With Port Imperial and Hanoi the races weren't "rejected" from the calendar, they just didn't go ahead due to external circumstance, and given the Hanoi track was actually built it's still possible (though not necessarily likely) that it will some day appear on the calendar. So far as I'm aware Copenhagen and London are just proposals that publicists have occasionally thrown around that haven't gained serious traction, and the linked articles make no mention of the proposals. Laguna Seca seems to be the one venue listed which was actually "rejected" from the calendar, as Phoenix was chosen to host the US Grand Prix over it, and that is mentioned in the article. It's unclear how that is relevant to a list of Formula One circuits, however. Laguna Seca has never appeared on a provisional Formula One calendar, let alone hosted a World Championship Grand Prix. If this section is included, it should probably be renamed to something more neutral and only list venues which actually appeared on official schedules, although I would not be adverse to removing it entirely. Given the section is of dubious relevance and seems like a magnet for original research I would have no problem with the WP:BOLD removal of the section. If a circuit hasn't actually hosted a round of the World Drivers' Championship then it is outside the current scope of the template. The scope of a listing of "Formula One circuits" should either be "all circuits that have hosted a round of the World Drivers' Championship" or "all circuits that have hosted a Formula One race (championship or non-championship)". A venue that was never built, or which has never hosted any sort of Formula One race, isn't really a Formula One circuit. I agree to you, and even some mentioned circuits such as Copenhagen Street Circuit, Fuengirola Street Circuit and London Street Circuit have not even specified article. And if we want to mention the rejected circuits in this template, we should have added other circuits such as Igora Drive and Port Imperial Street Circuit in this template. So, the template would have included too much unnecessary circuits. In my opinion, this section should be deleted from this template.
