ศตวรรษจีน (จีนตัวย่อ: 中国世纪; จีนตัวเต็ม: 中國世紀; พินอิน: Zhōngguó shìjì; อังกฤษ: Chinese Century) เป็นคำสร้างใหม่ที่เสนอแนะว่าสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีนอาจมีอำนาจเหนือภูมิเศรษฐศาสตร์หรือภูมิรัฐศาสตร์ในคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 21[1] ซึ่งคล้ายกับ"ศตวรรษอเมริกัน"ที่ใช้เรียกคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 20 กับ"ศตวรรษบริติช"สำหรับคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 18 ถึง 19[2] วลีนี้ใช้กับคำทำนายโดยเฉพาะว่าเศรษฐกิจจีนอาจแซงหน้าเศรษฐกิจสหรัฐ[3] ศัพท์ที่คล้ายกันคือ การผงาดของจีน หรือ จุดรุ่งเรืองของจีน (จีนตัวย่อ: 中国崛起; จีนตัวเต็ม: 中國崛起; พินอิน: Zhōngguó juéqǐ)[4][5]

จีนสร้างข้อริเริ่มเข็มขัดและเส้นทางที่บรรดานักวิเคราะห์รายงานว่าเป็นความพยายามทางภูมิยุทธศาสตร์ที่จะมีบทบาทมากขึ้นในกิจการระดับโลกและท้าทายการใช้อำนาจครอบงำของสหรัฐหลังสงคราม[6][7][8] เป็นที่ถกเถียงกันว่าจีนเป็นผู้ร่วมก่อตั้งธนาคารเพื่อการลงทุนโครงสร้างพื้นฐานแห่งเอเชียและธนาคารเพื่อการพัฒนาใหม่เพื่อแข่งขันกับธนาคารโลกและกองทุนการเงินระหว่างประเทศในด้านการเงินเพื่อการพัฒนา[9][10]

การที่จีนผงาดขึ้นเป็นมหาอำนาจทางเศรษฐกิจโลกนั้นเชื่อมโยงกับประชากรวัยทำงานจำนวนมาก[11] อย่างไรก็ตาม ประชากรในจีนแก่เร็วกว่าเกือบทุกประเทศในประวัติศาสตร์[11][12] แนวโน้มทางประชากรในปัจจุบันอาจขัดขวางการเติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจ สร้างปัญหาสังคมที่ท้าทาย และจำกัดความสามารถของจีนในการทำหน้าที่เป็นเจ้าโลกใหม่[11][13][14][15]
