กรรมการในคณะกรรมการตรวจสอบข้อเท็จจริงในประเทศซีเรีย (Commissioner on the Independent International Commission of inquiry on Syria) ของคณะมนตรีสิทธิมนุษยชนแห่งสหประชาชาติ (United Nations Human Rights Council: HRC) ตั้งแต่เดือนกันยายน พ.ศ. 2555 (ค.ศ. 2012)[7]
กรรมการในคณะกรรมการที่ปรึกษาของกองทุนเพื่อความมั่นคงแห่งมนุษย์ (Member of the Advisory Board on Human Security) ของกองทุนเพื่อความมั่นคงแห่งมนุษย์แห่งสหประชาชาติ (United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security: UNTFHS) ตั้งแต่พ.ศ. 2554 (ค.ศ. 2011)[8]
กรรมการในคณะกรรมการที่ปรึกษาคณะผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านความคุ้มกันระหว่างประเทศ (Member of the Advisory Group of Eminent Persons on International Protection) ของสำนักงานข้าหลวงใหญ่ผู้ลี้ภัยแห่งสหประชาชาติ (United Nations Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights: UNHCR) ตั้งแต่พ.ศ. 2553 (ค.ศ. 2010) และ
กรรมการในคณะกรรมการผู้เชี่ยวชาญว่าด้วยการปฏิบัติตามอนุสัญญาและข้อแนะ (Member of the Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations: CEAR) ขององค์การแรงงานระหว่างประเทศ (International Labour Organization: ILO) ตั้งแต่พ.ศ. 2552 (ค.ศ. 2009)[9]
ศาสตราจารย์กิตติคุณ วิทิตได้รับการเสนอชื่อเป็นผู้เชี่ยวชาญอิสระด้านการป้องกันความรุนแรงและการเลือกปฏิบัติด้วยเหตุแห่งเพศวิถีหรืออัตลักษณ์ทางเพศ (Independent Expert on the Protection against Violence and Discrimination based on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity: SOGI) โดยประธานคณะมนตรีสิทธิมนุษยชนแห่งสหประชาชาติ (United Nations Human Rights Council) ซึ่งจะต้องได้รับการแต่งตั้งโดยความเห็นชอบจากรัฐสมาชิกของคณะมนตรีสิทธิมนุษยชนฯ ในวันที่ 30 กันยายน 2559 ในที่ประชุมคณะมนตรีสิทธิมนุษยชนแห่งสหประชาชาติ สมัยที่ 33[10]

ผู้รายงานพิเศษแห่งองค์การสหประชาชาติว่าด้วยการค้าเด็ก การค้าประเวณีเด็ก และสื่อลามกเด็ก (United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography) ของคณะมนตรีสิทธิมนุษยชนแห่งสหประชาชาติ ระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2533 - 2537 (ค.ศ. 1990 - 1994)
ศาสตราจารย์กิตติคุณ วิทิตมีประสบการณ์การทำงานกับองค์การนอกภาครัฐในด้านสิทธิมนุษยชนอย่างหลากหลาย โดยได้ดำรงตำแหน่งกรรมการในคณะกรรมการนิติศาสตร์สากล (The International Commission of Jurists: ICJ)[12]; ประธานร่วมของสภาที่ปรึกษานักนิติศาสตร์ (Co-Chairperson of the Advisory Council of Jurists) ในเวทีคณะกรรมการสิทธิมนุษยชนแห่งชาติของเอเชียแปซิฟิก (The Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions: APF)[13]; ประธานร่วมคณะทำงานเพื่อกลไกสิทธิมนุษยชนอาเซียน (Co-Chairperson of the Working Group for an ASEAN Human Rights Mechanism)[14]; กับสหพันธ์สภากาชาดและสภาเสี้ยววงเดือนแดงระหว่างประเทศ (International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies)[15]; ที่ปรึกษาด้านกฎหมายคณะกรรมการกาชาดระหว่างประเทศ (International Committee of Red Cross) และอาสาสมัครในการอบรมด้านสิทธิมนุษยชนให้แก่หน่วยงานของรัฐและองค์กรอิสระ
ทั้งนี้ ศาสตราจารย์กิตติคุณ วิทิตเคยดำรงตำแหน่งประธานร่วมในการวางกรอบหลักการยอกยาการ์ตา (Yogyakarta Principles on the Application of International Human Rights Law in relation to Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity) ซึ่งเป็นการประยุกต์กฎหมายสิทธิมนุษยชนมาใช้ในประเด็นที่เกี่ยวข้องกับวิถีทางเพศ และอัตลักษณ์ทางเพศ ที่มหาวิทยาลัย Gadjah Mada เมืองยอกยาการ์ตา ประเทศอินโดนีเซีย ระหว่างวันที่ 6 - 9 พฤศจิกายน พ.ศ. 2549 (ค.ศ. 2006)[16]
