Cnidaria^[4] este o încrengătură de animale acvatice ce conține peste 10.000^[5] de specii de animale, întâlnite preponderent în mediul marin.

Reprezentanții Cnidaria au fost un timp lung grupați împreună cu Ctenophorele în încrengătura(?) Coelenterata, dar apoi au fost plasate în propria încrengătură.
