Arms: Ermine on a Cross Gules five Bezants all within a Bordure wavy of the second. Crest: A Rock proper therefrom a Cornish Chough rising Sable the whole debruised with a Bendlet sinister wavy Ermine. Supporters: On either side a Lion Or gorged with a Chain proper and pendant therefrom an Escutcheon, that of the dexter per fess Azure and Argent in chief a Naval Crown between two Laurel Branches saltirewise Or in base the Frame of a Vessel proper, that of the sinister Sable charged with five Bezants.
セントオービン家は17世紀中葉、 (コーンウォール州クローアンスの) 準男爵(Baronet, of Clowance in the County of Cornwall)に叙せられたことにより興った家である[3]。
その後の1839年に、この準男爵位は第5代準男爵サー・ジョン・セントオービン（英語版）(1758–1839)の死によって廃絶したが、彼の庶子にあたるエドワード・セントオービン(1799–1872)は1866年に (セント・マイケルズ・マウントの) 準男爵(Baronet, of St Michael's Mount)に叙されており、これが現在に続くセント・レヴァン男爵家の始まりである[4]。
その息子であるジョン(1829–1908)は自由党及び自由統一党の政治家として活動したのち、1887年7月4日に連合王国貴族としてコーンウォール州セント・マイケルズ・マウントのセント・レヴァン男爵(Baron Saint Levan, of Saint Michael's Mount in the County of Cornwall)に昇叙した。さらに叙爵後の1891年にはコーンウォール王立地理学会（英語版）の会長職を務めている[5][6]。
