District in Ayacucho, Peru
Vinchos District is one of fifteen districts of the province of Huamanga in Peru.[1]
Ethnic groups
The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (97.08%) learnt to speak in childhood, 2.71% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[2]
Geography
One of the highest mountains of the district is Yanapatira at approximately 5,000 m (16,000 ft) on the western border. Other mountains are listed below:[3]
