Incorrect information for Xochitl Gomez

I apologize. I have no experience on wikipedia but I am a family member of Xochitl's and I need to bring to your attention that you have posted incorrect information about her. I am trying to enter all the references to the 30+ newspaper, tv, video and magazine interviews she has done so that all the correct information is available. Learning how to use this database it a huge learning curve for me, so please be patient. I'm slowly trying to figure it out. She was born in Los Angeles. We live in Echo Park, an area of Los Angeles. The baby-sitters club was filmed in Canada and we took a photo of Xochitl holding a Canadian flag and from that single photo on Instagram people started publishing articles saying she is Canadian. This is quite a challenge to undo since so many people posted the incorrect information on their blogs. Her date of birth is April 29, 2006-- Not April 30, 2006-- which is falsely listed on many blogs. Do you have any suggestions for me? How can I be most effective at correcting the record so that people are not confused? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xochitlfiona (talkcontribs) 15:36, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Xochitlfiona:, unfortunately even if what you say is true, personal experience counts as original research which is prohibited on Wikipedia. All information on Wikipedia, must be verified by reliable sources. So unless you have a reliable source that states otherwise, we must go with what we have.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 16:12, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Source article has been corrected to reflect Xochitl Gomez is AMERICAN.

Thank you for your answer. I again apologize that I'm not familiar with the process on this platform and I thank you in advance for your patience. Xochitl's team was able to reach out to Al Dia (the source you relied on) and they have updated the article to properly reflect her birthplace and city of residence. Could you please retrieve the article once again and see the correction? Also, information in The Mary Sue article does not say that she moved to California at an early age. Xochitl told the journalist, Rachel, that she is from California-- just like Dawn, the character she plays on The Babysitters Club. If you could please retrieve the Al Dia and The Mary Sue articles again and correct the page, we hope it will help to clear up this misunderstanding. Thank you very much for your time.Xochitlfiona (talk) 10:02, 24 February 2021 (UTC) Xochitlfiona[reply]

Thank you for reaching out, I will correct the information if it has not been do so already.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 13:17, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

About House of the Dragon

Hello, In case you haven’t seen my response to your message I will re-type it here: So the issues I found were: 1) Including a huge spoiler by saying Aegon challenged Rhaenyra’s claim thus starting the Dance. Whilst it is true, it’s a big spoiler for non-readers. How I would fix it: Just say Aegon is the first-born child of Viserys and Alicent, and Rhaenyra’s younger half-brother. Should be enough for now. 2) Too little info on some descriptions How I would fix it: HBO has already said that Daemon is the younger brother of King Viserys and a dragonrider. Add that to his description. As for Rhaenys, you could say that she is of Targaryen origin, which she is, and got the Velaryon name only post-marriage (optionally). But for Daemon definitely make those changes. 3) Nicknames Since you have given the nicknames for Corlys and Rhaenys, I feel like it’s safe and good to include the nicknames for Daemon and Rhaenyra too, “The Rogue Prince” and “The Realm’s Delight”, respectively. And that’s about it! Hope I was as constructive as I could have been, and I hope you adjust them like this, to make them informative whilst also spoiler-free. Thor image

Someone (probably improperly) uploaded a new Thor image on top of one that you uploaded: [1] Do you know how to fix that? 207.229.139.154 (talk) 05:21, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It can be reverted. I would support such a move. It's rather rude for someone else to upload over the title without discussion. BD2412 T 06:00, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Upon further investigation, I have reverted the change; obviously the new image did not correspond to the title File:Thor-272.jpg. BD2412 T 06:05, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks User:BD2412, and they did the same thing at Adam Warlock [2]. In both cases, it is rather weird that they did not just upload a new image, since the file title is clearly intended to go with a comics issue. 207.229.139.154 (talk) 11:14, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And Doc Samson [3] although honestly neither of those pictures is great. 207.229.139.154 (talk) 11:16, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And I'm seeing they undid your reversion on the Thor image... 207.229.139.154 (talk) 11:17, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the heads up. They should have at least used a different namespace.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 11:44, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I tried reverting on the Adam Warlock image, but I could not figure out how to do it. 207.229.139.154 (talk) 03:20, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have reverted the Adam Warlock image. I frankly think the new Doc Sampson image is more representative of the character. BD2412 T 22:42, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Adam Hughes talk page

Hi. You may recall "Real_Power"_poster in April 2019 we had a disruptive IP editor with an Austin, Texas-based IP constantly reverting the wording in passages in the Adam Hughes article pertaining to the "Real Power in the DC Universe" poster. Now another Austin-based IP is doing so, beginning with this edit. I then reverted it, explaining why their edits were not improvements, but they reverted it again, insisting I take it to the talk page, which I did "Real_Power_of_the_DC_Universe"_passage here. Can you participate? Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 02:38, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ImageRes

Hey Triiiple. Long time no talk! Just saw your new upload of the Shang-Chi poster. I just wanted to mention, I'm not sure if since we've started maintaining the posters, WP:IMAGERES now says ... most common pictorial needs can be met with an image containing no more than about 100,000 pixels (0.1 megapixels). It doesn't use "less than" wording, so it appears being at 100,000 pixels is ok. Also just wanted to note of late I've been using this tool, also listed at IMAGERES, to resize the images before I do any of my uploads, so that's how I got to the 260 × 385 size of my upload. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 15:16, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Favre1fan93: I see. While its probably not a big enough deal to replace an existing image that is slightly over 100,000 px, I would suggest keeping it under 100,000 when uploading a new poster to stay safe and inline with the "no more than" clause. The tool is nice but its just simple math (LxW). If comes out over 100,000 just take it down till its under. Also what program are you using to resize the image? I am noticing a slight difference in quality, which may also explain the difference in byte size.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 15:44, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If the poster just drops on Twitter, I usually download from there, and then open in Apple Preview to resize there, saving, then uploading. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 15:51, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That explains it. Photoshop does a better job at maintaining quality while resizing the image.
See the difference in clarity and the vibrancy of colors, particularly the reds?--TriiipleThreat (talk) 15:56, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yup definitely see the difference. I don't have Photoshop, but I'll see if I've got another program that will work better. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:31, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nathan Edmondson

Hi. My attempts to get others to help regarding an editor blanking content from the Nathan Edmondson article, and refusing to discuss the matter, have only been slightly successful. I've contacted three other admins, and put messages on the WikiComics Project talk page, and only two other editors have so far responded. Since you've participated in disputes regarding comics articles before, can you offer your views in the discussions? My analysis of the blanking, which I did at the request of another editor who alerted me to the problem, is here. The subsequent RfC began here. Thanks. Thor image requirements?

Sir, the most recognizable appearance is his black and silver suit, which is how he is portrayed in most of the media sources Including the Thor movies. The blue and red suit was a classic suit Which only lasted until the 80s and made a few brief appearances in later editions. The black and silver suit is the most well recognized. The classic suit is mostly unrecognized because Thor s popularity faded out in the 80s .its only in the mod 2000s that his popularity began to increase, hence most people recognize Thor by his early 2000s version. Is it possible to provide a more recognizable image or at least conduct a poll or a discussion about this. I still want to learn more about this! Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Wasp Avengers-EMH.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Wasp Avengers-EMH.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. plicit 11:39, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
