Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Evangeline Lilly and Paul Rudd as Wasp and Ant-Man.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Evangeline Lilly and Paul Rudd as Wasp and Ant-Man.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Captain Marvel audience reception discussion

Hello, I saw your recent edits on the Captain Marvel article and just wanted to come here to respond with my thoughts. I have now noticed that at the bottom of the Deadline Hollywood article, it was in fact updated again where the movie's definite recommend score moved up to 73%. I am also willing to leave the point about analysts deeming the RT score the result of online trolling. However, we absolutely cannot leave that point from the Deadline Hollywood writer talking about RT as 'an ancient 1990s device full of hideous troll noise' or however he put it. It's such a provacative, over-the-top and generalising take that we simply can't have it sitting there as some kind of established or consensus view on RT, this movie or movies in general. You can find a plethora of sources that corroborate the poor RT reviews with scathing reviews of the movie themselves, such as here[1] and here[2]. Thus, the line is in clear violation of WP:NPOV, where it does not merely stick to reporting the facts in the source (such as the male to female viewer ratio) but also expresses one man's partisan opinion to artificially construct a narrative. For such a line to be valid, it would need more sources than just one to express that kind of hostile view, and it would still be in violation of WP:DUE as other sources exist to support the RT reviews. I'm perfectly happy to compromise and leave the DR score and analyst notes, but this last one from the one DW writer should definitely be removed. Davefelmer (talk) 20:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

The Reason.com article, though admittedly has a libertarian slant, doesn't mention the RT scoring, and TheBlemish.com does not seem reliable at first glance. I'd argue that Deadline Hollywood is highly reliable for entertainment news, literally used thousands of times on Wikipedia. So its use here is not without justification. That said, I am not the one that added it. Perhaps @Adamstom.97: might like to weigh in here.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 21:05, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
In no way am I questioning the reliability of Deadline Hollywood as a source itself. Like I said, it is reliable, has been used countless times and I support its inclusion on the article for the fairly described points of fact it delves into, such as the male to female ratio of people that went to see the film etc as I've already stated. I am merely questioning the use of it to project a lone partisan and highly provacative 'hot take' from a single journalist and publishing it in the article as if it is some sort of conformed to opinion regarding RT or the Captain Marvel movie. Its use in that manner and as the sole point to project that hostile argument against RT with violates both WP:NPOV and WP:DUE.
And the movie reviews don't have to necessarily mention the RT scores by name. They serve to counteract the DH writer's point about RT being some ancient relic full of mindless trolls because lots of reviews outside of RT including by frequently used and respected movie sites have similarly given it bad reviews that corroborate a lot of the RT reviews. They mainly reinforce just how lacking in WP:DUE that point is because it's giving one partisan opinion that doesnt hold up against wider context. For some other poor reviews of the film, see here[3] and here[4]. There are many more examples.
So like I said, what's fair is fair. I'm happy to compromise on the other points but this last point violates multiple wiki rules and seems to exist solely to paint an angle that is not from a NPOV. Davefelmer (talk) 22:03, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
Per WP:PSTS, reliable sources are well within their right to make analyses, interpretive, or synthetic claims. The view itself is appropriately attributed in the article to the author per WP:ATTRIBUTEPOV. And the movie reviews don't have to necessarily mention the RT scores by name. They do, if you are going to use them to counter criticism of RT's audience score. A poor review of the film does not mean that the author agrees with how RT conducted its audience polling. Suggesting otherwise is WP:SYNTH.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 11:47, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

Wayback Machine ref

I found your name linked to the Wayback Machine and was wondering if you could help. The article Fanfreluche (horse) has a DEAD Sports Illustrated link to the huge international story of her 1977 kidnapping. I have found the valid link and will insert it now but would like to ensure it is archived via the Wayback Machine. If you could assist, that would be much appreciated. Thank you. Stretchrunner (talk) 11:55, 22 June 2020 (UTC) Here is the valid link: https://vault.si.com/vault/1977/08/01/the-milliondollar-horse-heist

(talk page stalker)@Stretchrunner: Simply go to archive.org, copy your live url into the tan box that says "WayMack Machine" and you can see if any archives have been made of the url. If so, you can click the date of the one you wish to use. If not, it gives you option to "save now". I've gone ahead and saved the url you've provided. I'm serious. I find their edits questionable but you're the one reverting, and for that we need a reason. In fact, you need to provide a reason for reverting--please do that on their talk page. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 01:20, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

Done, and for the record I was going to when my reverts were complete. Leaving three messages minutes apart doesn’t do anything if I’m in the middle of editing as I won’t see them.—TriiipleThreat (talk) 01:40, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
For the record, there were 18 minutes between my first note and my last warning. You were editing the whole time, and you still have not provided an explicit reason. Please do so, next time, in the actual edit summary; if you don't, I will remove rollback. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 02:43, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

While the copy editing is about done. It wouldn't hurt if you can improve on the draft article too if you feel like it. Jhenderson 777 23:19, 4 September 2020 (UTC)

Hello TriiipleThreat:

Did you know ... that back in 1885, Wikipedia editors wrote Good Articles with axes, hammers and chisels?

Thank you for your contributions to this encyclopedia using 21st century technology. I hope you don't get any unnecessary blisters.
