Thank you. I hadn't ever thought about "Did You Know", will certainly let you know when there's s new entry (I have several new subjects in mind). One possible might be Spike Hughes, a fascinating character who wrote the first opera specifically made for television as early as 1938 (not Amahl and the Night Visitors which most people cite as the first). But as you point out, it could do with a longer intro and a box, which I will add and then let you know - the Reger one is good. (Reger's Romantic Suite, in the Schoenberg chamber ensemble arrangement, is a favourite of mine by the way). Thanks again. Sfjohna (talk)

Name of Wikipedia page for A. L. Bacharach

You are correct — there was no noteworthy A. L. Bacharach who wrote in German. The mistake I made was probably that I incorrectly wrote down the publication year of one the German translations of Bacharach's books on music & believed that the erroneous year (because too early) indicated that the German translation was an original work by another A. L. Bacharach — very bad editing on my part. If you want to change the name of the article back to "A. L. Bacharach", then that might be preferable — although I generally prefer full names to names with initials for the titles of Wikipedia pages. Suslindisambiguator (talk) June 1, 2023

Almost all of your recent edits to Finnegans Wake were marked as "minor" despite not meeting the narrow, technical Wikipedia definition of WP:MINOR. Please take a quick look! People filter their watchlists based on this criterion. You might be taken as trying to push something through underneath the radar of peer scrutiny—which, why not just avoid?

had forgotten I originally added a list of students. Those with blue links (excepting Andy Quin, where it's implied) have sources within their entries, and the Roger Marsh entry here has specific citations for Causton and Hugill. I don't always like to load up an entry with citations if the facts aren't in dispute. Welsh, eh? Ah, well, perhaps there is a slight ambiguity in the lead: "a Welsh harpist" - she was undeniably a Welsh player of the harp, but didn't necessarily play the Welsh harp. I don't think people are likely to be misled, but I just mention it. Certainly not worth raising on the article talk page. Great to hear, what a treasure to have. Afraid I could find nothing to tell me when Francis died, no obituaries even in the Musical Times or local papers, unless I missed it. Also, it seems to me that Emil didn't use the Bradley name, but stuck to Borsdorf - I assume because he was younger and missed some of the anti-German period?

I've been attempting to add entries on 19th and 20thc influential performers that are almost forgotten these days - like Max Abrams (drummer), Arthur Alexander (piano), organists associated with the BBC Theatre Organ, Hilda Gaunt (rehearsal pianist) and the Grimson family - the last led me into looking into musical families.

Hi there, just a quick note to say thank you for creating Adrian's Wikipedia page. I'm his husband and "producer", and we've been trying to get him on here for the longest time!

It's a great page, thank you, and we'd love to populate it with more information. As I'm very new to editing, I was wondering if you might be interested in helping us populate the page with more info? I'd like to have a section of his works, both in composition for performanance but also his music for theatre, as well as some other relevant composery information but I've no idea about how to go about it! It would also be great to have an image or two, if possible.

Just to reiterate, I'm really grateful for everything you've done so far, and I'm really looking for guidance about how we might go about doing this. Hi, many thanks for your message, and for the feedback. You are, of course, welcome (and free) to edit the page yourself, or I'd be happy to help. For a start, let me know if I made any mistakes. As for a worklist, that's an easy place to start and would be very welcome - and if you'd prefer to send it to me I could add it to the entry.

As for more detailed sections on his composition and performance I think that's a little more complicated. It's important to keep such sections (and the entry as a whole) neutral, in the tone of an encyclopedia, and relying on external independent references rather than personal knowledge, research or opinion. I think we could develop those sections more over time.

Just as an example, I created Christopher Whelen's page in April 2020. But from August 2022, large contributions from his relatives turned it into an entry that was (in my opinion) 1) far too long and 2) no longer objective, with paragraphs of laudatory quotes from positive reviews and the removal of quotes not "approved". I have since tried to cut it back down again, but once the damage has been done it can be hard to fix!

Hi John, Thanks so much for replying so quickly, I really appreciate it!

That all sounds great - I'm a huge fan of wikipedia and completely support the concept of a neutral factual encyclopaedic entry that's well researched and referenced. I've been looking at our friends Jonathan Dove and Sally Beamish, and their pages are exactly the sort of thing I'd like to see for Adrian.

As you have such a wealth of experience with appropriate content as well as a deep understanding of how wikipedia works I'd prefer to filter everything through you to keep it context appropriate, though am of course keen to do the support work in the background and can provide you with any data you need. I can also add/edit small details as we see them, so i'm happy to do whatever needs doing!

I can get you a works list broken down into categories. What's the best way for me to send you works list information? I have it as a text list with years of composition, though it doesn't have details about first performances or who commissioned the works. Can that be added later? It's all listed on his website as a reference, and I can provide further links if you need.

I'd also like to have a separate section for recordings that will list his commercially available music. it's relatively short, with the Chandos CD the most recent and highest profile, but his music has appeared on several other commercial CDs, notably on several of Fenella Humphreys' releases. We also have plans for further recordings so that's a list that will expand. (Fear not, i won't jump in and add all the five star reviews the Chandos recording has received!)

The last section we'd like to consider is an Awards section. He's received a Tony nomination as well as winning an Olivier, as well as several others, and it would be good to have that recognition on his entry.
