Speedy deletion nomination of Sashimani

Hello Saileshpat,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Sashimani for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. ubiquity (talk) 15:12, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Articles that aren't ready

Hi, Saileshpat. I'm sorry I tagged your article for deletion. I tagged it because it was almost empty. I had no way of knowing whether you had abandoned it, were working on it, or thought that an infobox was all that was needed. Once you put an article out in the main space, it becomes subject to the scrutiny of everyone. I saw an almost empty article with no indication of intent to complete, so I tagged it.

If you are working on an article and do not want it to be subject to the usual scrutiny, there are several techniques you can use:

  • Use the Under construction or In use templates (though strictly speaking these should not be used for new articles with little content)
  • Use the sandbox.
  • Put the page in the Draft: namespace.
  • Keep the page in your own User: pages until it is ready.

Any one of the above techniques will protect an article while you are working on it; all but the first will ensure that no one even notices it until it is ready. ubiquity (talk) 15:25, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much, for your suggestions from next time i will do the same. --Sailesh Patnaik  ଶୈଳେଶ (talk) 15:28, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Calling all WikiProject X members!

Hello fellow member! WikiProject X needs your help!

We studied the various needs that WikiProjects have, and have come up with some ideas for our first round of WikiProject tool development. These include:

  • An automatically updated WikiProject directory that surfaces WikiProject-related metrics and automatically generates a list of active participants and potential members;
  • A lightweight, optional alternative to WikiProject banners, featuring an option to quickly send a message to the named WikiProjects;
  • A tool that bootstraps WikiProjects; and
  • A worklist generation script for WikiProjects

We are now looking for volunteer coders to work on these projects. If you are interested in developing these tools, or if you would to volunteer for other tasks, check out our new volunteers portal. Thank you for your help!

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ekamra Walks requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Gift of images

Hi, Saileshpat (feel free to copyedit the bit below), I work on the Women in Red project which has been running for two years. It started because it was an open secret that men were over represented on Wikipedia and as editors. The lack of women editors is a big problem but its no where near as important as the lack of notable women on Wikipedia. Figures vary by language but on the en:Wikipedia 83% of biographies are about blokes. My grandchildren will see the #5 site saying that the best way to be notable is to be born a bloke. Over the last two years we have moved the %age from 15.5 to (last few weeks) 17%. The reason why women are so underepresented is partly historic. Most of the generals and medal holders at Waterloo were blokes. H

One of the things that hold us back is that women are less likely to have their image available, give a TED talk or to cite themselves. This month Women in Red is concentrating on Dancers, Musicians and Women from India. Its therefore amazing to find that a major athletic event has released hundreds of images with a cc by sa license. These people are all notable and women are fairly well represented. I've loaded over 100 pictures and cut up group pictures to create portraits. Immediately we have some new images but we also have the start of dozens more. So first thing is to thank who ever negotiated the idea with the ?????? and to thanks the AAA? for saying "Yes". We've been tweeting the new articles and pictures at #wikiwomeninred and trying to encourage all to "big up" the Odisha people, Its a great success and we need more people to follow suit. Their are articles about Japanese, Korean, Chinese etc athletes and everyone viewing them can see that Odisha is the place they had their picture taken.
