Tyndall GlacierHey, thanks for your work on Tyndall Glacier (Alaska)! My first serious content work wasn't nearly as good. I've marked it as reviewed. Feel free to ping me or message me on my talk page if you have any questions. Quick tip: when referring to content that is present in another article, there's a nice template {{Further}} which puts a hatnote at the top of the section. That's often preferable to something like "see Cow for further information". Ovinus (talk) 20:34, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Hi, againHope you're well, Penitentes. If you're not aware, Wikipedia has a process called Did You Know? which appears on the main page. Essentially, when an article is created or greatly expanded, it can be nominated to appear as a little "hook" on the main page, for 12 or 24 hours (depending on how many hooks are enqueued). For example, for Fawn Fire (2021), a fun hook might have been:
A barnstar for you!
Yellowstone fires of 1988Hi Penitentes, hope you're well! Really nice work on Mosquito Fire—34,000 page views. :) I mentioned some of your work to a fellow editor (SandyGeorgia), who asked whether you would be interested in the article Yellowstone fires of 1988. It's up for a featured article review (WP:FAR), meaning that the community is debating whether it should be kept as a featured article, because it's not up to standard at the moment. (See Wikipedia:Featured_article_review/Yellowstone_fires_of_1988/archive1.) Essentially, if the article is cleaned up and referenced to standard, the article will be kept as a featured article. Like Sandy, I think you have the writing skills and subject-matter interest to perhaps enjoy that process. Of course, it can be rather arduous to work through a long article and respond to others' comments, but I wanted to offer. Ovinus (talk) 21:56, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
DYK for Tulainyo LakeOn 28 September 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Tulainyo Lake, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in 1937, water from Tulainyo Lake (pictured) was carried by runner, horseback, donkey, covered wagon, twenty-mule team, stagecoach, train, car, and plane to Death Valley to mark a highway opening? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Tulainyo Lake. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Tulainyo Lake), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. Vanamonde 00:02, 28 September 2022 (UTC)

Friendly head’s upHey Penitentes. My ping attempt in an edit summary didn’t work, so I wanted to let you know I partially reverted one of your good faith edits on the 2023 Rolling Fork—Silver City tornado. Using 2021 Western Kentucky tornado as a template layout for individual tornado articles, it looks like the section headers don’t start with “Tornado stikes…” So, I reverted the headers back to what they were previously. I really appreciate your contributions to the article, so please keep up the good work! Cheers! The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 19:27, 12 July 2023 (UTC)

This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers. Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! —Femke 🐦 (talk) 18:51, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

PD-NWS Violations Update #1I am providing members of the WikiProject of Weather along with users who frequently edit weather-related articles an update to the discussions regarding the PD-NWS image copyright template. For starters, no "formal" administrative-style rules have occurred. All that means is the template is not formally deprecated and is still in use. However, Rlandmann, an administrator on English Wikipedia, has begun an undertaking of reviewing and assessing all images (~1,400) that use the PD-NWS copyright template. What we know:
Solutions:
For now, you are still welcome to upload images under the PD-NWS template. However, if possible it is recommended using the two templates above. I will send out another update when new information is found or new "rulings" have been made. PD-NWS Violations Update #2 (Key To Read Third Section)I am providing members of the WikiProject of Weather along with users who frequently edit weather-related articles an new update (2nd update) to the discussions regarding the PD-NWS image copyright template. On the Commons, an RFC discussion is taking place to figure out how to manage the template. No "formal" administrative-style rules have occurred, so nothing has changed. That is not a surprise as the RFC is still ongoing. What is new?
How to deal with new photos? Given all of this, you might be wondering how the heck you use weather photos while creating articles? Well, here is what you can do!
What about third-party photos? In the case of third-party photos...i.e. ones not taken by the National Weather Service themselves...there is an option which was discussed and confirmed to be valid from an English Wikipedia Administrator.
Update Closing Hopefully all of that information kept you informed on the Commons copyright discussion process and how you can still create the best articles possible! If you have a question about something mentioned above, reply back and I will do my best to answer it! Also, ping me in the process to ensure I see it! Have a good day!
