Quickly browsing your contributions, i noticed you uploaded some National Park Service photos with some edit comments that suggest NPS photos are public domain. To head off trouble, I'd like to point out that while often, perhaps most often, photos on NPS are public domain, there also are photos on NPS webpages that are NOT public domain.
For example, in the NPS Flood Damage in CVNP page, from which you drew at least one pic, there are a number of photos credited to Dick Whitehead that are NOT public domain, per the statement "Unless otherwise credited, all images are National Park Service photos" at the top of the page.

Got your reply. To clarify, no i didn't see anything specifically "wrong", and i did note that the flood pics u had chosen were okay. Glad to know you are attentive to this. About Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) (and the parallel Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS)), those are great, and they have been evaluated as completely public domain--the whole point of the HAER and HABS projects was to make the photos available, so the contract work was specifically set up to put copyright ownership to the Fed gov, so you can upload away on those. KudzuVine is one NRHP member who has done a lot of illustrating of NRHP articles with HABS pics. He does a nice job in uploading them to commons: cropping as needed to remove borders that they include, and entering good info giving proper credit to the photographer and the date taken and so on. doncram (talk) 14:51, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
About "Which PD tag/template should HAER images use on WikiMedia?", i might not understand the question exactly. What i do, when uploading HABS or HAER pics, is that i go to the Commons upload page at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Upload, then select option "It is from a US federal government source". That may automatically insert some template, along the lines you are asking about, into the record. I may be getting out of my depth here, that is as far as i understand it. If you have more questions, you might want to ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. (I am not a regular there, but there are experts who could address your questions there. The exactly best template to use is an issue that is getting beyond my current expertise, and interest level. I would be wary of moving/renaming any of these templates, as I expect there was considerable thought given to the existing hierarchy of them. It seems there is some guidance and discussion about the whole range of such templates at Template talk:PD-US. Perhaps you should post there? And/or post at wt:NRHP?

External links often work well, if you want to note to readers and possible future editors that additional info relevant to an article is available somewhere, and it happens that i have a standard HABS/HAER type of external link which i could customise here. a project involving coordinates
Hi LehackaG, i observe your energy in contributing in several historic sites areas. I wonder if you'd be interested/willing to help on one project that requires some energy. Not sure if it would just be drudgery or if clever programming somehow could speed it along. What it is: as mentioned at Talk:List of Chicago Landmarks#Overhauling page, the main developer of the List of Chicago Landmarks article would like to get latitude and longitude coordinates added for the 250 or so landmarks covered in the article. With that, then a "Map of all coordinates" link, like the one in the new List of RHPs in Chicago or the new List of octagon houses, would provide a Google map showing all locations. We would want to experiment first in a test copy of the Chicago Landmarks article, as it is a featured article and quite prominent. If interested, could you chime in on the Talk page there, perhaps in a new Talk section, or respond to my Talk page. Thanks for finding coords for Poplar Forest, the last-tabulated in the List of octagon houses article lacking them. I just further added those to the Poplar Forest article after converting them from decimal to Degree-Minutes-Seconds format, and switched its infobox from NRHP to NRHP2 so the house's location within a Virginia map would display, in addition to the photo (the NRHP infobox only shows one, map or photo). That necessitating indicating NHLness by "nhl = yes" because "nrhp_type = nhl", which works in NRHP, is ignored in NRHP2.
It revisited for me, nagging issues:
that NRHP / NRHP2 infobox both seem to require coordinates in DMS format, while they should accept decimal too i would think.
that the "nhl = yes" syntax in NRHP2, rather than just adding NHL to a list of nrhp_types which apply for a given site, is awkward and not backwardly compatible
hmm i thot it brought up some other problems, perhaps evident in the changes.
I updated guidance about dealing with coordinates, in section on coordinates in wp:NRHPMOS, which is in draft form.
Also about Chicago, it may make sense to adapt the NRHP template, as I have been doing with LOCAL1 template for Los Angeles sites that are LA monuments but not also NRHPs, indexed as the yellow-coded sites listed in a list-article at User:Doncram/Sandbox4 in my user space right now.
Another thing about Chicago, is that it would be nice to find / figure out how to use a local map of Chicago, rather than the Illinois state map that is used in NRHP infoboxes, to display the location of a given site. It seems good to show where Poplar Forest is within the state of Virginia, parallel to similar location maps for others listed on List of NHLs in VA, but for a List of Chicago Landmarks it seems appropriate to show them on a Chicago-wide map. As it also would be approp. to show Los Angeles monuments on an LA map, which i havent gotten to.
NHRP and NRHP2; From what I know, some/many of the Wiki InfoBox templates are "wrappers" around another template (like GeoBox ones). Being wrappers, some parameters are their own parameters, while other parameters are passed-through to the template(s) they wrap around. Some of the InfoBoxes have undocumented fields or parameters, like sometimes a _coordinates or _location field can be used with a coord template instead of the individual lat_ and long_ DMS fields. I have not looked at the specific NHRP and NHRP2 templates (their internals), yet. From what I remember, the InfoBox NRHP(2) template(s) specify a map locale, where I am guessing they look up a (State) map from. Guessing that a county map for Chicago and Los Angeles might be available on Wiki, and there might be a way of getting them to use a county map instead of a State map. Opened Talk:List of Chicago Landmarks#Adding coordinates now, and i think it's fine to add coords there directly, no need to test page elsewhere. Added 2 just now and see they're now visible in Google map.
NRHP2 is mostly the same as NRHP, it is a recent fork, which Dudemanfellabra having implemented most of the improvements to it. There are thousands of articles calling NRHP; a few hundred calling NRHP2. I'd like to be able to merge the NRHP2 features into NRHP, and drop use of separate NRHP2 in articles, and i think we could do so but for that input format issue. The map to display is chosen by the locmapin= field, as in locmapin=Ilinois, should be possible to get it to work on any specified map, i would hope. doncram (talk) 02:04, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
another project or two involving programming
It occurs to me that your style of including comments in articles is probably a programmers style, and is good style in programs, while in wikipedia articles comments are not often used (rather, the Talk page and external links are used for much of the same). And i noted your programming skills mentioned on ur userpage a few days ago. Anyhow, there are a couple projects where programming is needed: I am looking for some improvements to the NRHP2 infobox template, which is programmed in mediawiki. There currently are two versions, NRHP infobox and NRHP2, which are not merged yet in part because they are not fully compatible due to gaps in our programming knowledge/skill. The NRHP2 version has needed features, but is awkward in some ways. For example, for its inputs it requires "nhl = yes" and "nhs = yes " and the like, rather than allowing just a list of nrhp types in one input field compatible with the predecessor and co-existing NRHP infobox.
Another project has to do with handling the reqphoto photo requests in categories, and is, i gather, an advanced programming problem at the wikimedia level. doncram (talk) 20:26, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Ohio as an entity doesn't have as much action as other state projects. For this reason it has been proposed that the inactive WikiProject Ohio Townships be added as our taskforce. There is a !poll going on at WT:OH and your opinion is essential in the matter!

I assume your source for the "13 Burlingtons" in Ohio is USGSGNIS. I also note that of the 13 listed by you on my talk page, only 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are actaully named "Burlington, Ohio" and, more importantly, that 1 (the unincorporated community named Burlington) and 3 (the CDP named Burlington) are one and the same. Please look at the map of the county - the southernmost point is clearly in the Burlington CDP. The coordinates for the CDP are from the Census Bureau, a reliable source. My suggestion is to list the coordinates of the southernmost point within the Burlington article - for a similar situation look at the Bellefontaine, Ohio article, which contains the highest point in Ohio in its city limits.
If you look at the US Census website, they show only one community when you search for "Burlington" and "Ohio' (here) and there is only one Burlington, Ohio article on Wikipedia. If there are ever other articles on these other places, then there could be a disambiguation page. Ruhrfisch><>°°03:05, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Primarily USGS GNIS, but they can each be substantiated from other sources (county records, maps, ...). 1 (Uninc) and 3 (CDP) are not the "same" by a whole bunch of different standards (population, geographic area, history, ...). I am well familiar with what a CDP is, they are very common throughout Alaska. My point is a CDP is "arbitrarily" created and named by the U.S. Census Bureau as a "place" to contain their population statistics. CDP's have no basis in Alaska or Ohio law. In the specific Burlington case, "Burlington" in the historical/local sense (if you ask anyone who is not looking at U.S. Census data - whether they be an Ohio, Lawrence County, or Fayette Township government official, or an "average Joe" or "Jane" off the street) they are going to "point to" 50 acres in the Southernmost-part of Ohio. I fully understand in Burlington's case, the CDP (which is a much larger area) does contain "Burlington", but it results in confusion of whether someone is talking about Burlington (CDP) or Burlington, former Lawrence county seat. In Alaska, there are unified "home rule" county-municipalities (a Borough), like Anchorage, where the "city-county" of Anchorage has "swallowed up" the surrounding municipalities to create one large central unified city-county government. This is substantially different from Burlington's case. Your statement that Burlington (Uninc.) and Burlington CDP are the "same" is like saying Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, and Greater Cleveland are the "same" entity, while they share some common geography, they are definitely NOT the same. The same goes for "Burlington". For instance, according to the Lawrence County Recorder (an official legal authority/source in the State of Ohio) "Burlington" would be 50 acres. I guess someone should "correct" the CDP figure(s) and restate that Burlington is only 50 acres and has a much smaller population? Do YOU understand MY point? With their specific boundaries, etc., CDPs are treated like all other types of communities in nationwide articles: it's the nationwide standard to include stuff on the center of the community, including your fifty acres, along with everything else, in the CDP article. To take your argument, it's somewhat similar to someone saying that Anchorage is simply that area south of Fort Richardson and west of the state park: the core community of the CDP is simply part of the CDP. Look at the Census map given above, or this Google Maps display, for example: South Point plainly does not extend to the southern point of the state of Ohio, but does Burlington not? I too am aware of Alaska local government (I created 8 of the 23 borough and census area templates, and placed many of the other 15), and I know that they're not governmental entities, but please just face it: this is how Wikipedia's US local geography works. A lot of the problem, in your opinion, is that there is inconsistency, such as with this diff — it's because we change some things but miss others. If you want to help, make the data consistent in an orderly way, rather than adding all those warnings or making other nonstandard changes as we've discussed. I understand CDPs. I understand the law - what is the current legal status of any entity named Burlington in Lawrence County, Ohio? The problem with many unincorporated places is that there is just not much data on them from reliable sources - they are on a map, but what are the official boundaries, if any? What is the population? The Census data is useful because it gives set boundaries and thus defines the area (even if it is not the same as what others call that place), gives the population, etc. Historical and other information can then be added to the CDP page. To further confuse matters, the post office name for a place is often different than the name of the political body it is part of, so people may legally live in and pay taxes to township A, get their mail addressed to place B, but say they live in place C. I can not find a map that shows both the CDP and the unincorporated community as two separate places. I looked up the latitude and longitude of each on GNIS and estimated the lat and long of the sourthernmost point with Google Earth and they are all very close to one another, though not identical. Your repeated references to the southernmost point in Ohio make me think that is why you are interested in splitting the article, but the coordinates for that point do not match the GNIS coords for either place. The established convention on Wikipedia is to use the CDP data if available and add other data as known, making it clear that there is not always a one to one correspondence between the CDP and other uses of the name. Re: your comments earlier; part of the problem is that I accidentally deleted too much, as you noted. It's simply that I don't have time for tons of going to find the sources for tons of stuff, and a facttag in the infobox really isn't good — better to have it blank or a source. For your information, I've cleaned it up a bit: there are specific lines for references for many parts of the infobox, and you need not have any references added to other lines in those sections. Also, putting the usual ''' in the title actually removes the bolding (see this version), and there's not much point to having a blank Founded line above Incorporated. The problem is that you're continually adding bits without references. Do you know that people can get blocked for this? Whatever happens in this discussion, I'm not going to block you for addition of stuff without sources, and I'm not going to ask anyone else to block you for it, so don't take this comment as a threat. Nevertheless, it's strongly against WP policy to add unreferenced information, especially repeatedly. Are you familiar with the idea of a sandbox? Create one for yourself, write or expand the article there, and when you've added sources, put it in the article namespace. Huh? Please substantiate your 1st. sentence, especially when you deleted references which I added twice Today. I have been mostly correcting coordinates, other factual details and adding references (the majority of "un-referenced" material was already there before I touched anything). In the "Craig, Alaska" article, someone else had most of the unsubstantiated text (under Economy, the general/lead paragraph). All the material I added or updated, I usually added links/references for. Why did you delete most of the additional ref tags I added Today? Does one sentence about Craig Seaplane Base really require an additional reference when it refers to another Wiki article, and specific text about the Inter-Island Ferry Authority (from another Wiki article) need to be referenced (when it is referenced on the other article)? I understand about a sandbox page, but then how does one merge content into an article without overwriting or manually needing to sort out what content has changed since the separate sandbox thread started? I know how to do it with a SCCS, CVS, ... command-line interface, but I have no idea how to do it with the Wiki web interface. I have been "burned" by edit conflicts several times, where I started editing an article and spent a couple hours only to have an edit conflict and either loose my work or need to spend another couple hours manually sorting through to what changed and manually merging the two versions. When I see a "red" link or an empty field, I try to research and resolve it, and yes it takes time to do so, which others seem to be unwilling to spend? You repeatedly violate the Wiki Vandalism policy when you delete/undo my work without either flagging/tagging the specific issues and posting a Discussion. If you tag something with a Fact template, I will take care of it ... What is the deal with deleting most of the contents of Craig, Alaska, then after I re-add the material, and specificially reference sources for almost ever item, then deleting the references claiming that it is "over-referenced." Look at my edit here: aside from my accidental deletion of the seaplane base (sorry, I agree that it shouldn't have been removed), you added tons of unsourced material that was removed. As to my deletion of references: look at the infoboxes of featured articles such as Boston, Detroit, and Minneapolis — they don't have reference bits everywhere, just what was needed. I'm not trying to antagonise you, just to format these articles in a way similar to the way that others are done.
As far as the sandbox: just copy/paste the currently existing text of the article you wish to edit into your sandbox, edit it as you would the page, and when you're ready to put it into the article, copy/paste it there. Nyttend (talk) 11:58, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm well aware of the legal status of CDPs and Alaska's census areas. Perhaps you can consider it this way: the Census Bureau is the definitive source for demographic data in the United States. If we use its data, we shouldn't interpret it in an original way; we should present it as it's used. This is not to say that we use it blindly (sometimes we even say that the Census Bureau named the CDP wrongly, even though in a way the Census Bureau can't be wrong when it says that a CDP is named a certain way — see Cisco, Nebraska), but it's really the key source; if we reject the Census Bureau boundaries for the CDP, we have no good reason to retain the demographic data. As far as Alaska's census areas: please note that even in the 48 states with counties, not all county equivalents nationwide are counties: examples include the cities of Virginia. It's not that the Census Bureau divides all non-governmental counties/boroughs (no New England counties are split, even though 22 of them have no more government than the Unorganized Borough); simply that the Unorganized Borough is, in the judgement of reliable sources, rather too large to treat as one entity, so it gets split. As far as your comment about the infoboxes: I was simply trying to standardise. Since I placed these templates months ago, many of them before you had registered an account (for example, {{Northwest Arctic Borough, Alaska}}, created on 24 January 2008), I had forgotten that census areas aren't generally listed in the infobox. Re: Lawrence County (Ohio) government web sites
I removed the link because it was found in the 'references' section, but was just a link and not a real inline citation. I didn't look at the actual URL itself, but with a very long domain and a .ORG, it didn't look legitimate, and looked like spam. With words in the name like 'countyrecorder', it could have just as easily been some cybersquatter trying to pose as a newspaper or online forum site.
Anyway, looking at the site now, it appears to be legitimate, though there isn't much content there. There's a notice on the record search feature that it's currently down, so that might be an indication that the site may be moving to a new URL anyways. Feel free to add it back under 'external links' if you wish. Just don't use the 'cite web' template, which should only be used for actual inline citations, not external links. CDPs etc
Hi LeheckaG, I understand that things can sometimes be frustrating on Wikipedia and am glad you are working on a neglected area of the state of Ohio (and Alaska too). This is how the encyclopedia grows, a user adds something and hopefully cites it to reliable sources. While I agree with you that the modern CDP of Burlington is not equivalent to the unincorporated community that was once the county seat, I would also argue that there is a common thread to them and we have to acknowledge that places can grow and change just like people do. For example, I am not identical to my 5 year old self, but we are the same person, changed by time. Any populated place will have had changes - what is now New York City was once (partly) a Native village at Manhattan. NYC is itself a relatively recent creation (five boroughs being joined) but a history of New York City still discusses these predecessors. Or in Ohio, Columbus has grown from its small origins to eat most of Franklin County and bits of a few others, but we do not have a separate article on the tiny 1816 "Burough of Columbus", it is just part of the history section in the larger article on the modern city.
If you look at the Burlington, Ohio article, the first sentence makes it clear it is a CDP (and links the term). If you would like the history part of the deleted article back, as an admin I can get this and put it in your User space. I do note there was an error - it said that Burlington, Ohio was named for the place in Vermont and that Burlington, Iowa was too, when the source used says that the place in Iowa was named for the Ohio community.
Finally (and I already said this on Nyttend's page), follow your naming logic (i.e. following the Census name) then, for example, Ironton, Ohio should be renamed to Ironton city, Ohio - see here and all city, village, and borough articles should be renamed as well. There is also the Wiki principle that an article should be listed under the most common name. Adding CDP to everything does not make sense.

What I am currently working on:
I wrote an Awk script to take USGS GNIS information and create WikiTables.
My intended use is for Alaska "features", but some tables and thus articles end up "too large",
so it needs to be broken into more manageable pieces and a navigation box template needs to be created.
I am in the process of "assessing" i.e. "counting" by creating of table of "Feature class" versus Borough or Census Area.
This Alaska "lists" table will help me determine how and where to break them up into separate articles/tables.

Welcome to the project. However I have reverted your undiscussed changes to the project. You made several changes to our project within minutes of joining and with no discussion. This is poor practice. Some of the changes may have been useful, some useless (in my opinion) and several were to basic concepts of the project (naming and disambiguation) and should not have been altered without discussing them on the talk page first. There's a known bug with "Map of all coordinates" usage on Categories. It does NOT work as intended; it displays only coordinates that were in some download a couple years ago now. This was discussed at WikiProject Photography a month or two ago, where it comes up because it seems like it would be helpful in ReqPhoto categories. It's not going to be fixed any time soon, either. So all these GeoGroupTemplates applied to Category pages should be deleted, IMHO. The Map of all Coordinates does work on new articles such as List of RHPs in Chicago which contain numerous coordinates in the article itself. doncram (talk) 21:50, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GeoGroupTemplate help needed: Erie, Niagara, Wisconsin
Hi, first of all thanks for chiming in with helpful info at wt:NRHP. I'm not sure but think i have not come across that list of heritage registers before, for example.
I wonder if you could advise on getting the "Map of all coordinates" to work for relatively new (but more than a day old):
and for:
List of Registered Historic Places in Wisconsin which has had coordinates info and "Map of all coordinates" for a couple weeks now. The latter shows NRHPs for just the 3 of many counties in Wisconsin, the first 3 that i put coordinates data into the list for. Thanks for the update. Erie and Niagara work for me now. It is expected that some of the latitude and longitude data is incorrect, for these taken from the National Register Information System. It seems to be way off for about 1% of sites. I look forward to gaining some understanding about what the problem was, what you changed to make those work.
About List of RHPs in WI, it still shows just 20 or so sites in 3 counties, including after i cleared the cache in my browser (Firefox). I am aware that zooming and panning brings various ones into view, but that seems not to work here. I guess i'll reboot and try again later, tho i have rebooted many times in recent days (altho not after cache-clearing), and don't expect that would help. Could it be browser-specific? Thanks for your continued edits. I see that you edited List of RHPs in Erie, for example, to remove the obviously bad coords.
FYI, I would NOT tend to assume, as your edits seem to reflect, that some NRIS coords have simple typos and then just simply change one digit. I think NRIS coords are not typos of that kind, it is not as if there was a correct coord available anywhere that was mistyped, it is more like there never was exactly correct info. In fact the NRIS coords reflect "hand collection" over many years by many state historical department staff and other people, often by their attempting to measure lat & long off of USGS topo quadrant maps. I know this because copies of the quadrant maps with lines drawn on them are included in some NRHP documents, i think especially in Virginia and/or South Carolina submissions. And many coordinates are approximate, I can imagine that many coords were provided by nominators who had to provide something for an application to be deemed complete, at a time when there were no Google maps or other way to check what was right, and precision simply did not matter.
So if you identify that a coord is wrong at the Minutes level out of DMS, then certainly the Seconds info is wrong, too. In general, if you identify that coordinates are wrong, then it is justified to delete them. Perhaps you can usefully include a comment stating "deleted NRIS coords of 45-30-19 N / 116-40-22 W were incorrect" or whatever, or just delete them. If you have some way of figuring out the correct coordinates, you could choose to explain your source in a comment, or not. Mainly, i want to encourage you to consider just deleting bad coords, without obligation to find correct coords, and avoiding guesswork that will be difficult for others to understand well enough to overrule later.
Hey, dude.. I know it seems like a good idea to you - and most of the time it is - but chill out for a while on the new template creation. Wait until we've fully discussed the stuff to make sure that's what we want to do. I'm all for editing existing pages on a whim and doing whatever the heck you want to do with them.. but when making new pages is involved, we need to discuss what we want to do first, so we don't wind up making 564979 pages that aren't going to be used and just need to be deleted. {{ConvertAbbrev}} already has all these subpages, and I just found out about the thing like 20 minutes ago. Just chill for a while until we find out exactly how we want to handle the thing. When we figure it out, you can go hog wild for all I care, but I'd like to keep the number of pages we have to delete at a minimum... if not zero. Did you look at these maps? Whatever you think of them, they are quite accurate: don't judge any specific map's accuracy by what you see as problematic with most. Thanks for the detailed feedback. First off, let's remember that no one says "I'm driving to Athens, Ohio, print out that little map from Wikipedia and let's go!" These are meant to give a good general sense of location, nothing more. As you note, for larger cities a single dot is going to be a bit of a judgment call (as the city's area will be larger than the dot). Second, are you aware that the location of the dot in pushpin maps can vary from browser to browser by a few pixels (at least this was true in the past)? So the "pushpin" maps may be more or less accurate just depending on which browser a person is using. Third, most of your "inaccuraccies" seem to be projection preferences. As you yourself note, even a preferred projection (with vertical north-south lines) has some inherent error (flat map of a round planet). Ruhrfisch><>°°15:40, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to be slow in replying - busy in real life and here. If a dot map seems to be obviously in error, I would probably mention it on the article talk page just to make doubly sure. Then assuming others agree (or there is no comment in a few days), I would replace it. I make maps (stolen from US Census sources in many cases) so I would probably make a new dot map and upload it at Commons. Not sure if you make maps or not though. A tag has been placed on Template:Alaska Railroad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Hey dude; remember me? Probably about a year ago (dates are hazy), there was something wrong with {{Infobox NRHP}} dealing with the coordinates, specifically the "region" parameter, and we collaborated on a project to find a solution. We ended up creating Template:ConvertAbbrev and all of its subtemplates to convert country names, state names, etc. to and from their abbreviations. I recently had the need to be able to convert languages into their ISO 639-1 codes, so I created another subtemplate and have updated documentation, including moving around a lot of the stuff that was already there to make the whole operation streamlined. My idea of having shortcuts (and not having to remember ISO codes) has also been implemented. Hi, I am just trying to sort out a couple of naming issues. The UK waterway project seems to have got the green tunnel prefixes the wrong way round. They should be gt, rather than tg. I have created new icons, replaced all occurrences in templates on English wikipedia, fixed the legend on Welsh wikipedia and Japanese wikipedia (scary), and have just got to fix the Russian one, but somehow they are using templates from one of my user pages, so that is a bit more tricky. However, you have copies of utgSTR, utgAKRZu2, utgAROADu and utgKRZuy on your icon page. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. You are invited to join us for a multi-site editathon organized by Indiana Wikimedians at IUPUI University Library in downtown Indianapolis and the Herman B Wells Library at IU Bloomington (with virtual option). Together, both experienced and new Wikipedia editors, with faculty subject matter experts, will collaboratively improve articles on environmental justice in Indiana and globally. Join us at either location or virtually!
Registration is now open for WikiConference North America 2022 (Nov. 11–13) held jointly with Mapping USA! If you would like to experience this virtual event in-person, you are welcome to join our meetup in Indianapolis! We will be meeting at IUPUI University Library for the weekend, with AV set up for conference streaming and presenting (for those who've submitted proposals).
Anyone is welcome to join, we will have some light refreshments and are planning evening activities. Feel free to join us for an activity, a day, or the whole weekend. Please let us know you are coming via the meetup page and please register for the conference. We will share more about in-person activities on the meetup page as they are finalized.
