Administrator Elections: Voting phase

Administrator Elections | Voting phase

The voting phase of the October 2024 administrator elections has started and continues until 23:59 31st October 2024 UTC. You can participate in the voting phase at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Voting phase.

As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

• October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase
• November 1–? - Scrutineering phase

In the voting phase, the candidate subpages will close to public questions and discussion, and everyone who qualifies for a vote will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote tallies cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's tally during the election. The suffrage requirements are different from those at RFA.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for an indeterminate amount of time, perhaps a week or two. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose). As this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Special:WantedTemplates

Hi! I have been cleaning up WP:Database reports/Transclusions of non-existent templates and Special:WantedTemplates and I noticed that two of your javascript pages are transcluding Template:\s*Cite\s+web.*?. Due to a "feature" in the backend software, even though this is a javascript page, the software parses braces and brackets the same to generate links. It would be very helpful if you could add

 // <nowiki>

to the top of your script page (or above the section with this expression) and

 // </nowiki>

to the bottom of your script page (or below the section with this expression). Because these <nowiki>...</nowiki> are inside of javascript comments, it won't impact the functionality of your script, but it will keep the backend sofware from thinking you are transcluding templates. To create an article about a person, you must first search for multiple independent reliable sources that provide in-depth coverage of the individual to meet the general notability guidelines WP:GNG for any type of article. There are also specific notability guidelines you can check, such as WP:NPOL for politicians and judges, and WP:NACTOR for actors. Let me know which subject the person belongs to. After you find those sources and confirm that the person meets a notability guideline, you should create a draft using WP:ARTICLEWIZARD. Write your article without any promotional tone and cite the reliable sources you have found that provide in-depth coverage of the person. Once you finish the draft, you can click on “Submit” for review. After some time, an AfC reviewer will evaluate your draft; if it meets our inclusion criteria, your article will be moved to the main space and published. It is designed to remove only external links. If I add the option to remove text, it will also start to remove valuable content texts from other articles when the script is used on them. Therefore, I think a manual edit is justifiable. I created this script with the intention of tackling articles that have tons of external links in the text, considering that if an editor starts to remove them manually, it will take a significant amount of time. I would say it is possible to do this without getting so many false positives. This type of unnecessary text is generally added between references section and external links section, so you can track it. Additionally, this type of text usually starts with an asterisk (*), so you can look for asterisks between references section and external links section. In its current form, I believe it should not save the edits directly; instead, it should open in a preview screen and saving should be left for manual confirmation. @Anonito73: Hey there, thanks for your message! You can start your article by creating a draft. Once you’ve finished editing your draft, you can submit it for review. If the article meets our guidelines, it will be published to the main space. Keep in mind to cite multiple reliable, independent sources that discuss the subject in depth, not just trivial mentions. Good question -- I think it may count as an attack page, but advice is not to tag things as an attack page especially where the target might be a minor because it just draws attention to the article/draft, so patrollers generally go with vandalism WP:G3, which would also cover hoax, another possibility here. I always try to go by the rubric of G11: "exclusively promotional and would need to be fundamentally rewritten... If a subject is notable and the content could plausibly be replaced with text written from a neutral point of view, this is preferable to deletion." @FrancisMathew2255: The director is a WP:PRIMARY source, and they mentioned that the reported budget is incomplete as it excludes “Mammooka’s salary and promotion costs.” The Manorama source stated, “The production cost of this film is Rs 23.5 crore without Mammooka’s salary. Apart from that, Mammooka’s salary and promotion costs may also be added.” Therefore, the reported budget from these sources is incomplete. Hello, my first time doing this. I just created my account.

I just wanted to point out that the Manchester Yankees played in Gill Stadium for three years, 1969, 1970, and 1971. I was the trainer for the team in 69 and 70, and lived down the street from the Stadium in 1971. The article says 1971 and 1972. They moved to Connecticut in 1972. @TRoda: Hey, thanks for your message! If you want to make corrections to the article, feel free to edit it, but ensure your changes are backed by reliable sources. For the years 1971 and 1972, there is a reliable primary source: Manchesternh.gov, which says The Manchester Yankees, a class "AA" Minor League Baseball Team in 1947 and 1948. In 1971 and 1972 a second Minor League Baseball Team, the class "A" Manchester Yankees played at Gill Stadium. However, if you’re adding 1969 and 1970, you must provide a reliable source. Once you find credible sources to support your claims, you can either update the article yourself or go to the talk page to request an edit. Don’t forget to properly cite the source. Thanks! Hello GrabUp, There is a YouTuber named Nitish Rajput. A year ago, an article was made about him but was deleted through PROD. Maybe at that time he wasn't notable. But still, then also some users in the AfD discussion had said that he might be notable after some time. Although, the article was then deleted. As an AfC reviewer and an experienced editor I would like to request you to please invest some of your valuable time and check if now he's notable or not and would it be justified to create a draft on him and submit it for AfC. I am not able to figure this out by myself and therefore requesting you to do so. As you know, It takes quiet long time to create any draft or article. On 1 January 2025, a one-month backlog drive for new pages patrol will begin in hopes of addressing the growing backlog. (talk page stalker)@XYZ 250706 As a nominator, you could invite users to an article for deletion discussion, but you have to be unbiased. What this means is that, apart from the regular deletion sorting, you could notify WikiProjects that relates to the article one way or the other, and you could also notify specific good-faith creator and any main contributors of the article, and by looking at the article’s edit history you can achieve this. Notifying users who never contributed, or only made minor edits, to the article is considered unbiased and does not align with WP:CANVASS. Hope this helps.
