USHL and AHL MapsI've created a map for the USHL so far. Let me know what you think. It's just a start, it could go in a completely different direction if you like. 100%; 50%. Here you go: Image:AHL Team Locations.png, Image:USHL Team Locations.png. I had a problem with the text display as an SVG so I had to convert them to PNGs but that shouldn't be a problem. I didn't make the Finland map, it already existed. Here is the Australian map. If you look at the code for the Elitserien map it shows that it is using a blank image with the dots superimposed over it. IIHFI've gone through and added the template to all the pages that exist for member nations (full members, that is). The hard part is going to be creating pages for all the members that don't have pages. We have to upload the logo, create the page, make sure the colors match, etc. That's definitely not going to be pretty, but it has to be done. And have no idea about all this coding, but I know a great deal about hockey and want so much to help with your Patt Quinn page. A lot of it I know personally but can verify from public sources. For example, he went to law school only one year at that private school back east. He finished up in San Diego and passed the California bar in 1968? He used his newly acquired legal knowledge to try to double deal on my team, the Kings with whom he had a contract, and use that contract to try to get a better deal w another team. That's how he got banned from the NHL. So his law school and bar admission dates are important. Oh there is so much more.. He was not a nice man. Almost all of the links are bad in the article, for a guy who was fired from every job he ever had and was banned completely from the NHL, you sure can't tell he was anything but an angel. I am a librarian in Edmonton Alberta, and I'm working with an older fellow named Donald Gary McCallum born Sep 6 1939, aka "Big Cal" aka Don "Dunk" McCallum. Donald is hockey player whose got his own incredible story to tell (we are working on a short film, and book). The problem is in 1965 Ed Chenoweth gave him the nickname Don "Dunk" McCallum after the more famous "Dunc McCallum", and this is how he's known in the hockey community (he knows Don Cherry!). This is a problem, because whenever he tries to tell his story, Dunc McCallum 1940-1983 is the first google result and people (including journalists) assume he is lying, or crazy, or a ghost! He does not claim to be Dunc McCallum 1940-1983. However this article is making it impossible to tell his story. Rather than attempt to edit the article, or create an entirely new wikipedia article, and probably get it wrong -- I thought i'd ask you you to help by making a small edit. Something like "Not to be confused with Don 'Dunk' McCallum aka "Big Cal" AAA + WIHL + NOHA Hockey Player', or whatever you think woud be most appropriate. We have alot of evidence and material of Don McCallum's Hockey Career, and can provide such as necessary. We can also exchange contact information, but i'm not sure this is place? Hi - my name is Colin Stein. I am Lloyd Pollock's youngest grandson. The image for Lloyd Pollock posted on http://wecshof.org/inductees/lloyd-pollock, reproduced on your Wikipedia entry for him, is wrong. Can you please remove it, and replace it with this (http://wecshof.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Lloyd-Pollock-Windsor2.jpg)? I have emailed the Windsor Essex County Sports Hall of Fame to ask them to remove the photo from their website as well, and replace with a correct image. In addition to seeing the clear differences in facial structure and features between the hockey player and the correct image of Lloyd, you can also compare his date of birth (1909) with the apparent year of the photo for this Windsor Spitfire player (would have to be 1940s or 1950s) - this player is a junior hockey player younger than age 25, whereas Lloyd would have been in his 30s or 40s. 1954 LyndhurstsJust wanted to stop by and say great work on this article so far - I've always lamented the fact that our article on that team is so short. I have actually done a lot of research on the players of the team in the past years, for the SIHR (I even spoke to John Scott about the team & tournament years ago) and it's quite the story, as many of those early Canadian national teams are (the 1949 Sudbury Wolves who won 47-0 against Denmark at the 1949 Ice Hockey World Championships is another great one). I am planning on having a WikiConference North America sports panel December 12 3:00 EST. This is something that has never been done before and there are many sports which are "native" to North America and part of the America identity. What it seems to be is that we (you, me, and other members of WikiSports) will be in a Zoom (or other video conferencing app) to discuss our experiences in editing sports on Wikipedia. These can range from combating vandalism to how to best get permission to use sports photos. The organizers of WikiConference North America (WCNA) created an Etherpad surrounding planning which I will link here. if you Command F "sports" you will find the section. When researching a different Jimmy Roy, stumbled across this guy. While his article is very very short, he seems to have caused some controversy as seen here and here. Unsure what "professionalized" means but I will be working on this. Art Potter's birthHi @Flibirigit:, I came across your new page of Art Potter and realised you are missing his UK birth details. I have free credits with the GRO Index so I managed to pull out his birth certificate. Please find it at a temporary location here. To clarify it says born 8th August 1909 in St. Lawrence, Ramsgate, Kent to George William Potter and Annie Potter, formerly Craig. Hopefully this "completes" his vitals. Your addition there is interesting, but does not make much sense. When Canada lost to Czechoslovakia they had two remaining games, and only had one loss, so could have still won gold. A's grandson, I wanted to thank you for the very impressive and incredibly thorough Wikipedia pageI too have been doing research on my grandfather's hockey career, although with more emphasis on his coaching/management of Portage's franchise in the MPL from 1905-06, 1906-07 and 1907-08. I am familiar with the majority of the content mentioned in your write - up, including the wrangling with the entire Maritime region, the protest at the 1936 Olympics, his business and political ventures, etc. but certainly not all the detail that was contained in your article. I did discover a picture of the Smiths Falls 1901-02 Senior team for whom he played, the only evidence I have of his own PLAYING career. Smiths Falls was part of the epicentre of the game of hockey at the turn of the last century, being part of the Ottawa Valley. Note that most of the players on those old Portage's teams came from that area - Brockville, Renfrew, Ottawa plus Art Serviss and Skinner Poulon who were Smiths Falls natives. I also heard numerous anecdotes from my father ( Rex) while growing up in Portage as a kid (e. g., appointing Clarence Campbell as head referee for an Allan Cup final, and bringing him in for a briefing (via train) in our living room at 144 Garland St., P la P. George NagobadsA couple weeks ago, you reverted an edit that I made to George Nagobads where I added a internal link to Latvia. Your rationale was: "revert as per MOS:GEOLINK, country names do not need links". I read GEOLINK and it says (underlining for emphasis): However, I scrolled further down to find MOS:OL, which is the more relevant subsection. To amalgamate the guidance given there as it pertains to countries: In any case, the Manuel of Style is pretty vaguely written on this subject, so I wanted to look into where the community stands on this issue. That sent me down a whole different rabbit hole where I eventually found this RfC on the MOS:LINK talk page from 2021. The consensus there was... ah, who are we kidding? There was no consensus on that page. I didn't realize that linking countries was such a contentious issue. I know for a fact that I've done it before, and while it isn't generally encouraged, it's not really outside of policy, either. My thinking was that adding links to countries was convenient for the reader (as it has often been for me), but if the Wikipedia community generally frowns upon the practice, I won't stand in their way. See MOS:DATETIES. "For any given article, the choice of date format and the choice of national variety of English". The key is national variety of English. Finland does not have a national variety of English so DATETIES does not apply. DATETIES is effective for countries such as US, UK, and India. I don't read or write Finnish, but I don't think a Finnish person would write today's date as "29 October 2023" since "October" is probably not a Finnish word. The table is about how many medals each country has won, the note clarifies that Russia is a successor state to the USSR.
