Edit dispute on Kardashev scale

In the last month or so there's been a edit dispute on the article, about what it is, who it was meant for, where the article needs to go, whether it needs to be split. Not of lot of people work on it, so there's very few people deciding these issues. I was wondering if you could take a look at the article, it's history, and talk page and put your two cents in at the bottom of the Talk:Kardashev scale page. If you could, it'd be really helpful. Use of New Template

MA & PA Heritage Trail, Inc.

I am the secretary of the [MA & PA Heritage Trail, Inc.] [1]. I also do community outreach for the organization. I am interested in updating the MA & PA Heritage Trail Wiki entry and see that it is part of a larger project about MD.

I agree it looks hard to get into but that is just because of the failed discussions on the talkpage. I have tried to make it easy with a diff, so that you can compare two proposed versions of the R1a article. Most differences of opinion have been to do with wording, and the question of what is encyclopedic. Multiple-arch dams

Hello, Deanlaw. I noticed you're edit to Arch dam and am having trouble making sense of what the book's author wrote (pg. 115). After Gleno Dam, there was more than one multiple arch (buttress) dam built to include some big ones like the Daniel-Johnson Dam, Itaipu Dam and the Bartlett Dam. More here as well. I think the author was referring to specific designs as they changed over the years. I am still doing some research because I don't think the wording is too accurate. Multiple-arch isn't a terribly popular design but it was still applied after Gleno. I figured maybe you had some thoughts.--NortyNort (Holla) 09:43, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

When the author used "rare exception" I was a bit thrown-off but I think we are on the same page. Thanks for the edits to Gleno Dam by the way. Constance Worth Image

Hi Deanlaw. Its great you found an image of Jocelyn Howarth (Constance Worth). I have a better image of her from the courtroom scene in The Wages of Sin, but am not confident about the copyright. As I understand it from your note on the photo - this film is no longer copyrighted so I could upload it? NB: Jocelyn Howarth's sister Gwendolyn lived in Hagerstown, Maryland for many years. I assume you mean a copy of this image. The Wages of Sin itself does not appear to be available on-line, although a copy of its film trailer is posted YouTube (posted by Something Weird) but that does not include a courtroom scene. I did a preliminary check on films in the U.S. copyright record through 1969 which should list The Wages of Sin, since as a 1938 work it should have had its U.S. copyright renewed in 1966, but found no entry. The lack of an entry of the renewal of the copyright would be consistent with other films from Willis Kent Productions, which failed to renew nearly all of its film catalog. As such, I think you could post your copy of the courtroom scene with the "not renewed" license. Deanlaw (talk) 13:26, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Here Comes the Bride 1919; photo correction

Cause for this error was a source document (January 25, 1919 Moving Picture World) had two adjacent images from different films with captions reversed. I enjoyed watching the A Romance of Happy Valley (1919) film to verify this. Not sure how to avoid this type of error for most images from old magazines, prior to uploading I search Google images for matches but often for silent films there are none or few; in this case the incorrect caption resulted in no matches and resulting error in title. I had to do similar searching in order to identify the still. George Fawcett and Kate Bruce appeared in many Griffith films. I almost thought Harron was Richard Barthelmess until examining the photo carefully. I narrowed it down to The Girl Who Stayed at Home (a city slicker movie), Scarlet Days (a Western), and Hearts of the World (takes place in France on the WW1 Battlefields. The still was of a rural setting and Romance of Happy Valley was the only Griffith film with all three actors that had a rural setting. Thanks much. James O. Barrows

Hi Dean: I removed the advert for Down Home (1920), the Leatrice Joy film. James is not represented in the advert as it is Leatrice and an unnamed performer much younger than Barrows would have been in 1920. Rechecked the source for the image, page 10 of the Jan. 8, 1921 Duluth Herald, which lists James O. Barrows in the caption of the image. Film articles with images

Hello! Thank you for all your help in removing image requests, from articles about films that have images. However, when updating talk pages, please consider just removing the parameter that is no longer needed. Redundant parameters such as |small=no, |needs-image=no, |needs-infobox=no, etc. place the article in Category:Film banners with redundant parameters, and don't actually do anything except take up unnecessary space. Silent Film Censorship

Thanks for all your work/research into some of the incredible State Censorhip edits that were taken out on many silent films. They seem laughable almost petty when reading them today. And this before Will Hays and Joseph Breen. It must have been frustrating and maddening to directors to have their films cut to ribbons by crazy edits. Thanks. I keep wondering how the audience experienced a film like a western with a gunfight with all the shooting scenes removed. Wrong image in Larry Kent article

The image you added to the article on December 22, 2017 that identifies the male figure at the left as Larry Kent is incorrect. It is actually Allan Forrest, who also appears in The Lovelorn. File uploaded to wrong movie

Hi Deanlaw, back in February 2020 you uploaded to Commons a file from a Spanish periodical Cine-Mundial from May 1916. The image was uploaded to Florence Reed's 1916 movie THE WOMAN'S LAW. It's incorrect. The file pertains to John Barrymore and a K9 in the film THE LOST BRIDEGROOM 1916. I've tried to change the name and/or move it to a new name. I believe a file mover or admin is looking at it now.
