As the sources you deleted [here] indicate, the origin is Ancient Greek. The word dates back as far as Homer (Ilias, 13.736). Following your logic (of taking into account origin instead of use), shouldn't we remove it from Category:English given names as well, since the English language didn't exist then? I am not confused. I was editing the category: Macedonian given names, and I've added Stephen (Stefan = Стефан) in it (before this, I saw the category: English given names in the article). Syncretism reversion

Look up the definition of contradictory and contrary. Contradictory statements, logically speaking, are opposites of one another - that is, the truth of one implies the falsehood of the other just as the falsehood of one implies the truth of the other. Contrary statements, again logically speaking, may both be false but not both can be true in the same sense. Therefore in this case the word "contradictory" is not as correct as is "contrary" because two beliefs may be utterly false and yet opposites at the same time, whereas if they were truly contradictory then one would have to be true and the other would have to be false. Thus, I'm re-editing the page. If you decide that "contradictory" is still the better word then I'll leave the page as you see fit.

I've just come across the audio file you added to Xenophanes' article, and clarified its modern Greek status. I was also a bit puzzled by its blue-linking, since "Xenophánes o Kolofoneos" doesn't seem to correspond to any known transliteration system. Anyway, could you indicate me, if you have added audio files to any other ancient Greece themed articles? If yes, they would most certainly be in need of inspection. Hellenistic/Macedonian

Dear friend, thanks for the comment that you left on my talk page.

I agree with almost all what you wrote as far as I understood it. Why do you think we have opposite opinions I really do not know. What did I say that you did not like? I am not Macedonian, neither Bulgarian nor Albanian and also not a Greek. and have no ambition to dispute any of these territories. I also think that nobody has historical rights on some territories. These rights have the people who are there now. There is no need for drawing new borders, we need to open the existing borders.

Unfortunately I did not understand all what you wrote. There are people who speak Slave on the territory of the ancient northern Macedonia and Paionia and they say that they are Macedonians because they have been living on that territory (probably for 15 centuries) and are a mixed people of certainly very different origins which we really do not know. What we know is that they use one south slave language. They have their regional history and that history concedes with and continues the history of the Ancient Macedonia, Greece, Roman history, Ottoman history and later modern history of the Balkans. Where is the problem?

The Macedonian Empire and later Roman Empire are responsible for the spreading and the success of Greek culture. In the 19th century it was given a name Hellenism (by Droysen, German historian). That culture does not coincide with any nation, any etnie. Hellenic is not Greek, although the Greeks Hellen, as you, probably are. This is a fact. Had the Persian Empire prevailed, the Greek culture would look differently today.

Where is the problem with Argead dynasty? Did I say something wrong about them? I share opinion of Hammond and the other historians who are indecisive whether it was autochthon Macedonian dynasty or Greek dynasty.
