User talk:Antilivedhello, I am a bit late to answer but you corrected my edit that the N900 has a pressure sensitive screen. It is indeed pressure sensitive (not just pressure activated) and that's why mypaint (originally made for wacom pressure sensitive tablets) works on it with pressure sensitivity. You can even change the assignment graph for pressure. HELP.I'm new to wikipedia, well in terms of editing anyways. I was trying to fix the RNA DNA comparison image from your last update, but I can't quite grasp how to do it, i've been all over the help pages and it says simply upload the image with the same name but it won't let me saying that I'm trying to replace a file with the same name, go figure! Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Fabio

CongratsRemoval of recipesHi, I agree with your removal of RyanGrether's recipes (as they do not belong on Wikipedia). However, in future it would be helpful if you could (at least) explain your reasoning via edit summaries. The person was a new contributor, and probably well-intentioned if misguided. I put a brief note on his talk page explaining why his recipes had been removed. Perhaps this would also be a useful idea for other newbies if you have to remove any recipes and the like in future. This a pseudo translation request: In Kevin Rudd, someone added his Chinese name for the purpose of referring to Chinese newspaper articles about him. Anyway, I was wondering if you could perhaps reference his Chinese name in one of those articles. I Googled "陆克文 Kevin Rudd" and of course lots of articles in Chinese came up. I know you speak Cantonese and he knows Mandarin, but I'm assuming some of the articles may be sufficiently intelligible for a reference! Based on the highly successful French and German graphics labs, it seeks to better organise and coordinate our graphic design and photo-editing efforts. Up until now, there has been no common space on EN where users could ask for maps, charts and other SVG files to be created. What's more, the Graphics Lab has discussion boards, tips, tools and links; in sum, a good common workspace. Come help us out! Fair use rationale for Image:Evermore_-_It´s_Too_Late.oggThanks for uploading Image:Evermore_-_It´s_Too_Late.ogg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. I think the reason things are layed out the way they are is so you get that nice larger-tab effect on the highlighted tab. Not sure that would work with a list, but I'll try it after classes today. Also, putting borders in between the items makes it practically impossible to tell which is highlighted- only the current desk's tab should have top and bottom borders. Non-free use disputed for Image:Goldenhorse_-_Maybe_Tomorrow.oggThanks for uploading Image:Goldenhorse_-_Maybe_Tomorrow.ogg. Unfortunately, I think that you have not provided a proper rationale for using this image under "fair use". Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. Note that the image description page must include the exact name or a link to each article the image is used in and a separate rationale for each one. (If a link is used, automated processes may improperly add the related tag to the image. Please change the fair use template to refer to the exact name, if you see this warning.) If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. So called "Pheonix TV" stuff completely fails WP:V, WP:RS, WP:NPlease stop your disruptive editing, such as the edit you made to :{{{Reports of organ harvesting from Falun Gong in China}}}. If your vandalism continues, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.
The stuff you are trying to add is in complete violation of: WP:RS. There is absolutely no way such stuff can be kept in the article - it obviously being mere CCP propaganda - stuff that has no acceptance in the academic community - sourced directly from a CCP propaganda website. Such propaganda has been strongly criticize by all independent, academic sources on the subject and also by HR organizations - including Amnesty and HRW. K-M reports mention such propaganda pushing by the CCP. The Western standard has reported on it. The RSF has Published a detailed report on CCP propaganda and the extent to which it manufactures things to push its propaganda.[4] Please note that judged by wikipedia standards, your edits count as blatant vandalism - in complete violation of WP:RS, WP:N and WP:V . I see another editor had reverted the propaganda you wrote into the article, but you insisted on pushing such stuff in. Please refrain from adding such propaganda into the article. Antilived (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log)) Request reason: I have only done 3 reverts in total. The only controversial revert I did was this, which was caused by me misunderstanding that User:Asdfg12345 didn't even read my addition before removing it ("I hadn't actually seen you add that giant section. I've removed it." - User:Asdfg12345). Subsequently we had reached a semi-consensus and he didn't remove it again until the summarisation. Then User:Dilip rajeev comes in and reverted it without even reading the talk page or such, twice, repeating the same points of it being hosted on a CCP website on the talk page, which was resolved earlier in my discussion with Asdfg12345. I have been actively talking with other editor(s) throughout the whole process. Although the addition was controversial and disputed at first we have worked out a solution, and IMHO it's perfectly reasonable to maintain a status quo while user:Asdfg12345 works on a summarisation. Decline reason: You were blocked for edit warring not for 3RR. The article is on Article Probation and disruptive editing can result in a block or even a ban. Three reverts in six hours counts. — Selket Talk 23:22, 16 August 2008 (UTC) If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. The book has a lot of chapters of varying length which really look like they were just stuck in by an editor after Sledge died. MB vs MiBIn Ubuntu (operating system) you commented why do we need to specify how many bytes there are when we can use MiB and the like? And choosing between sever and desktop doesn't mean you're locked into CLI/GUI. The answer can be found in WP:COMPUNITS. MiBs is not correct as per Ubuntu's specs. And the guideline is to explain the units so even if you use MiBs you would have to explain that it's 10003. It was news to me too. Tiptoety talk 06:40, 12 July 2010 (UTC) Under this motion editors working on Falun Gong articles are subject to Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions. Be aware that when discussing matters on the talkpages of Falun Gong related articles to stick strictly to the content, and not to wander into statements that reflect on any individuals. While your intentions are entirely honourable in the discussion taking place on Talk:Shen Yun Performing Arts in that you wish to clarify if certain reviews are appropriate, you have been drawn into making comments that can be seen to be provocative, such as "Enough with the exaggerations". The tone of your comments indicates some personal exasperation with the other person. When you do feel yourself being in some way irritated by another user, it makes sense to either draw back for a while, re-read carefully your posts before pressing Save page, or to ask a neutral person to comment/get involved. As you have drawn attention to and asked me to comment on this incident, you have done the right thing, and this comment on your talkpage should not be seen as a formal warning as understood by Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions, but as personal advice from one Wikipedia editor to another. Just design me a new logo to put on my page if you like. Also - could you please provide me with a signature that matches it. eg. like my sig now. And do you know who could re-design my user page? Maybe you if it's no trouble? Sorry to email you. I will just use Wikipedia talk from now then. Thanks Socks 01 01:52, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Please note that pages related to Falun Gong, like Shen Yun Performing Arts, may fall under the the Arbitration Committee's discretionary sanctions. I would draw your attention to these sentences, from that page: "Editors wishing to edit in these areas are advised to edit carefully, to adopt Wikipedia’s communal approaches (including appropriate conduct, dispute resolution, neutral point of view, no original research and verifiability) in their editing, and to amend behaviors that are deemed to be of concern by administrators. An editor unable or unwilling to do so may wish to restrict their editing to other topics, in order to avoid sanctions." I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale. If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Hello, Antilived. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale. If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Also affected:

Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them. Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs. Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC) |
