Hey there, welcome to the 25th issue of the Wikipedia Scripts++ Newsletter, covering all our favorite new and updated user scripts since 1 March 2024. To a lesser extent, the same goes for PrimeHunter/Search sort. I wish someone would integrate the sorts into the sort menu instead of adding 11 portlet links.
An easily configurable script to add a link to the #p-vector-user-menu-overflow portlet with a name, target, and icon. This one should be a relatively easier one. I would do it myself, but I'm too busy rotting away on Celeste (video game).
After the ＲＩＩＪ update, Aaron Liu: Watchlyst Greybar Unsin has a dismiss button that allows you to mark an item as read in one click and cycle to the next Watchlist item.
Lordseriouspig/StatusChangerImproved is just like Enterprisey's script, except you select your status from a dropdown instead of cycling through them with a button. The WMF operates out of car-centric infrastructure anyway. Shame!
Newly maintained scripts
Aaron Liu has created Duplinks from Evad37/duplinks-alt; his fork adds a config variable to automatically highlight duplicate links on the loading of any page where the portlet link would've appeared.
Tired of staring at a bunch of filtering text and waiting for darn filter logs to load? Msz2001/AbuseFilter analyzer can parse abuse filters into a visual syntax tree and evaluate locally on-demand!
Polygnotus/DuplicateReferences finds references with the same link and displays the number of them along with a button to add the {{duplicated citations}} tag under the references section. Being lazy has never been easier!

Hi Andrybak. Thank you for cleaning up after my work.[1][2] For me it's often a guess as to what is the optimal way to format such things so occasionally I just copy similar code from somewhere handy.
Regarding the content category Category:Occupational safety and health: I had added that to the new template category partly because I had just got through removing it from the existing navbox cat (now a subcat) here. But also I was under the impression that it was okay to include template-containing categories in content cats based on an RfC from a while back. I dug back and found it I think here but I must have either seriously misunderstood or misremembered something because that was not the consensus at all, or I was thinking of a different discussion. Anyway, you were correct to remove it. Well done:)
Possibly a helpful note on the shortcut link: I often get the feeling that, within my edit summaries, the shortcut "WP:CAT#T" gets ignored by editors who aren't aware of what those characters point to, or that they point to anything useful at all. "CAT#T" doesn't give much of a hint as to what it's about really. The # symbol nestled among the letters is an unusual shortcut. It's quite small and sometimes I think people think it's a typo or something. Lately, in my own personal experience, it seems the full "Wikipedia:Categorization#Template categorization" gets the attention desired and it's certainly far more descriptive. Even pipe-labeling the shortcut as "Template categorization", as I've been doing more recently, is better I think...fwiw --DB1729talk20:38, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

On your user page you say you've publicly revealed certain conflicts. I'm wondering if you've considered linking to such public statement(s). I've wrestled with maybe similar issues, as with "I'm an ex-banker" from 2012 on my user page. I'm less active with editing currently but appreciated your help with one of my recent edits, visited your user page, and had my old wrestling brought back to mind. Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Featured script
Very useful for changelist patrollers, DiffUndo, by Nardog, is this edition's featured script. Taking inspiration from WP:AutoWikiBrowser's double-click-to-undo feature, it adds an undo button to every line of every diff from "show changes", optimizing partial reverts with your favorite magic spell and nearly fulfilling m:Community Wishlist/Wishes/Partial revert undo.
Miscellaneous
Doğu/Adiutor, a recent WP:Twinkle/WP:RedWarn-like userscript that follows modern WMF UI design, is now an extension. However, its sole maintainer has left the project, which still awaits WMF mw:code stewardship (among some audits) to be installed on your favorite WMF wikis.
DannyS712, our former chief editor, has ascended to MediaWiki and the greener purpley pastures of PHP with commits creating Special:NamespaceInfo and the __EXPECTUNUSEDTEMPLATE__ magic word to exclude a template from Special:UnusedTemplates! I wonder if Wikipedia has a templaters' newsletter...
BilledMammal/Move+ needs updating to order list of pages handle lists of pages to move correctly regardless of the discussion's page, so that we may avoid repeating fiasco history.
Andrybak/Unsigned helper forks Anomie/unsignedhelper to add support for binary search, automatic edit summaries after generating the {{unsigned}} template, support for {{undated}}, and support for generating while syntax highlighting is on.
Polygnotus/Move+ updates BilledMammal's classic Move+ to add automattic watchlisting of all pages—except the target page(s)—changed while processing a move.
I have been working on improving the Thai Wikipedia's main page for the past year or so. Our inspiration, of course, comes from the English Wikipedia. I noticed that you have contributed to the page we based our work on, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could take some time to review our version of the code.
As we are a smaller wiki and the output from volunteer editors varies greatly over time, there is some deviation in the implementation of the FA and DYK sections. We decided not to set regular intervals for updates to these two sections, but rather to set release dates for the following month based on the content we have available in the current month. [If nothing is available to display, we show a message encouraging people to join our project as volunteer editors.]
Even after a year of working on this main page revamp, I only realized today that I have left an important technical loophole for the four pages (main/ -2 -1 +1 +2 days). It’s surprising to me that no one had noticed the broken pages until now.
My request is broken down into two specific questions:

@Patsagorn Y.: My colleague working on this project is just promoted to admin on Thai Wikipedia and this can possibly speed up our work. The progress was very slow in the past.
BTW, apologies for the temporary issue with Wikipedia:Main Page/Day before yesterday. I mistakenly saved the code on the English Wikipedia instead of the intended page on the Thai Wikipedia. I reverted the change within a minute. This experience has made me realize that it's better to seek help from someone who recently edited the page for this project.
I did not add the superfluous categories to my user page. If you want to do the work to find out how they got there, have at it. By the way, when I say My user page I mean the page I use to present information I wish to share. Did you use a bot or a script to make the edits? The editors of Wikipedia are people. Wikipedia uses a categorization system which aids its readers and editors. Categorization of a page is done by placing special wikitext: to place a page into category called "Example", the following wikitext needs to be placed into the page:
On categorized pages, the categories can be seen at the bottom of the page. Some categories are hidden from users by default. They can be shown by enabling the checkbox Preferences → Appearance → Advanced options → Show hidden categories.
Different categories are used for different kinds of pages:
Articles are put into categories based on encyclopedic topics, e.g. Biology.
Non-article pages are categorized into maintenance categories, e.g. for templates: Sports sidebar templates
Instructional pages are put into the category tree of Category:Wikipedia help. For example, the page Help:Category is currently placed into four visible categories:
Pages which don't align with the intended contents of a category shouldn't be put into that category. The page User:Neonorange has been incorrectly categorized into the following categories:
Addition of the following categories can be seen at the bottom of Special:Diff/1238902261, which is a copy of a portion of the page Wikipedia:Tip of the day, starting from the section "Alphabetical list of tips":
