Thank you! I know about the Bible project but not the Israel. That’s helpful. It’s been frustrating because this seems to be one of the only active editors in some pages I’ve been editing. And they have pretty extreme views (which led to them being on restriction at Israel-Palestine pages.) It seems they’ve migrated their revisionism from Israel-Palestine pages to pages that are merely adjacent to the topic. Is there a way to request that some pages are officially in that topic. The user still seems to be able to edit pages like Solomon and Josiah which should be included in the Israel-Palestine editing restriction I believe. I also made a start on Principality of Tarusa. I am just not sure what could be considered the definite end date, though. I have seen some sources mention 1392, when Vasily I received the yarlyk to annex Tarusa, but there were still a couple more princes of Tarusa after this in some years (more like vassalage) and the appanages were still switching between Lithuania and Moscow until they were eventually all annexed by Moscow. ru:Тарусское княжество says 13th to 15th centuries, for example. Looks good! Regarding the end date, according to Kelembet the (already non-independent) Tarusa princes lost Tarusa town for good between 1462 and 1473 ([1], p. 124).

Well, the part about Africans in Batumi can be added to the article about that city. I'm not sure that the fact that the Library of congress has a picture of a Black Karabakhi and the picture of a random African in Vladikavkaz merit the inclusion into Wikipedia. However, if there were notable communities of African descent there, then they should be described in the relevant articles and the photo can be used as an illustration.

Finally, if reliable sources link these Africans to the Afro-Abkhazians then we can mention them in this article, but to the best of my knowledge they are unrelated. Alaexis_¿question? 08:55, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I've checked WikiProject Caucasia and WikiProject African Diaspora, but they both seem inactive. I personally don't have time to start a whole article about the African diaspora in the Caucasus, so I think that until now it's the lesser evil. In the sense that it's better than having the information on the topic be inaccessible. Regarding Batumi, I think that adding it in that article alone is not as relevant, as people looking for information on Africans in the Caucasus are more likely to stumble upon "Afro-Abkhazians" than "Batumi". Help needed

Please help me change some pages that misslead people and have wrong info. Hamas is a terror organization which it's main purpose is to demolish Israel. As seen on the events of the 7th of October. They don't care about the citizens of Gaza, that's why they take every humanitarian aid the area receives. They are brutal, moved by the lust for blood and nothing less. They have kidnapped innocent civilians, which obviously is against war laws. They tortured many men, women and children. Did unbearable things, and yet Wikipedia calls them "resistance movement" and not a terror organization. Change that ASAP! @Simkameow, I completely agree that the coverage of Hamas here is not good. Regarding the "terror organisation" label, Wikipedia has a policy about that (MOS:TERROR) which says that we can write that many countries consider them terrorists but not call them this way in Wikipedia's own voice.

Personally, I think that labels are less important than providing information about their real beliefs and activities. I'll check your link, maybe I'd be able to add some information from it.

Partition Plan

Ah, thanks for offering to respond here :) I was unsure how to react; in Germany, we don't have the rule that discussions are not allowed on talk pages.

Firstly, you are of course right that the bulk of the subdistrict was and remains unsuitable for agriculture. However, I am bothered by the phrasing in this section because it simultaneously obscures how the partition proposal was perceived. It was not seen as barren land. I have linked to Chacour on the talk page. This is not a scientific work, but rather a type of memoir; there you can see how it was perceived: "What, even our breadbasket is now to be stolen from us!?" There are several lists by Arab authors detailing what was "unfair" about the partition plan, and the inclusion of agricultural land in the Negev is often mentioned. (So, I don't think this is original research). Hence, I think it needs to be clearly stated that now, of the five major agricultural areas of Palestine, not three but four were supposed to go to Israel.

That Bedouins farmed in the Central Negev is very well established. See Mayerson 1960 (whole article), the said dissertation by Bruins, Avni 2019, p. 7 (cool photos); Meraiot et al. 2021, p. 10f.; Mor-Mussery 2022, 3.2
also Stavi u.a. 2017, 3.2 on the Aravah (I didn't know that before).
Ashkenazy 2019, p. 3 has a map with old Bedouin orchards, see also Abu Sitta 2009, p. 11 on the map on p. 13. (so, this isn't OR either).
But, again, you are right, the whole southern half is not arable.

The phrasing also bothers me a bit because of the current political discussions in Israel, but that's probably only of secondary importance for the page. Just so you understand: Israel has declared much of this area as state land. Bedouins have filed several thousand claims, and most have been denied. Often with the note that this was "dead land" (mawat); this is then used to argue that no one could have lived there, so the respective Bedouin claims cannot be accepted. The Bedouins then respond that it was obviously fertile land - but this is often not accepted by the courts (if you believe Kedar: almost never. Cf. also the very good article of Rangwala 2004). So, writing that the Negev was predominantly barren is also a political statement nowadays, sadly.

This might be WP:WIKIHOUNDING which is considered to be harassment. On the other hand, if your edits are reverted then the best way to achieve consensus is to use talk pages to understand their concerns and deal with them. Have you done that? @0iet0, apologies for the late response. The issue with the title is a trivial one, you will just need to rename it to James Andrews (artist). The issues raised by u:Ratnahastin who has declined your submission are much more important and I suggest you address them first. I agree with them that the draft now reads as a catalogue of the artist's works rather than as an encyclopaedic article. However, I do see coverage by independent sources and I believe that the draft would be accepted if you improve it. If I were you I'd start a discussion at Draft_talk:Jim_Andrews and show that the coverage by independent reliable sources exists, and also I would transform the list of works into a (shorter) narrative about the artist's works. Then you can ask u:Ratnahastin or another editor to re-review your draft.

I want to be transparent and let you know that I got the task as intern at Armada Music to have a look on how to change their Wikipedia page to include accurate and not outdated pictures and information. I've heard that as of now the last intern spent 6 months and was unable to figure out how to change things, I did a lot of digging and research and discovered I had to be auto approved by making 10 edits to upload pictures.

Some questions I had before I get started on changing the Armada Music wikipedia page to make it more accurate and non biased in terms of information:

1. Do my sources have to come from independent sources or can I refer to information that is presented on the Armada Music Website?

2. It mentions that pictures have to be changed to include licensing information? what does this mean precisely?

3. Is it considered a conflict of interest or bad practice that I change the Wikipedia page simply because I am an intern there? The information that is currently on their page is incredibly outdated and simply false, they don't wish for the page to be extremely detailed they just want it to be accurate and portray some simple information about who they are since Wikipedia is a front runner in terms of information sources.

4. What are some advices for me you might have when it comes to changing a page of a larger company entity such as Armada?

Arbitration motions regarding Palestine-Israel articles

The Arbitration Committee has resolved by motion that:

Motion 1: Appeals only to ArbCom

When imposing a contentious topic restriction under the Arab-Israeli conflict contentious topic, an uninvolved administrator may require that appeals be heard only by the Arbitration Committee. In such cases, the committee will hear appeals at ARCA according to the community review standard. A rough consensus of arbitrators will be required to overturn or amend the sanction.

Motion 2b: Word limits

Uninvolved administrators may impose word limits on all participants in a discussion, or on individual editors across all discussions, within the area of conflict. These word limits are designated as part of the standard set of restrictions within the Arab-Israeli conflict contentious topic. These restrictions must be logged and may be appealed in the same way as all contentious topic restrictions.

Motion 2c: Word limits

All participants in formal discussions (RfCs, RMs, etc) within the area of conflict are urged to keep their comments concise, and are limited to 1,000 words per discussion. This motion will sunset two years from the date of its passage.

Motion 5: PIA5 Case

Following a request at WP:ARCA, the Arbitration Committee directs its clerks to open a case to examine the interaction of specific editors in the WP:PIA topic area. Subject to amendment by the drafting arbitrators, the following rules will govern the case:

• The case title will be Palestine-Israel articles 5.
• The initial parties will be:

  • Iskandar323 (talk · contribs)
  • Levivich (talk · contribs)
  • Nableezy (talk · contribs)

Any links to the English Wikipedia submitted as part of private evidence will be aggregated and posted on the evidence page. Any private evidence that is used to support a proposal (a finding of fact or remedy) or is otherwise deemed relevant to the case will be provided to affected parties when possible (evidence of off-wiki harassment may not be shared). Affected parties will be given an opportunity to respond.

Addendum

In passing motion #5 to open a Palestine-Israel articles 5 case, the Committee has appointed three drafters: Aoidh, HJ Mitchell, and CaptainEek. The drafters have resolved that the case will open on November 30. The delay will allow the Committee time to resolve a related private matter, and allow for both outgoing and incoming Arbitrators to vote on the case. The drafters have changed the party list to the following individuals:

Hi, I have my Wikipedia page for Major General Stanley W. Connelly prepared in a Word doc. I am his daughter, but I cited newspaper articles published in papers like the Detroit Free Press, and his USA military files from 1933 to 1972 for the article.

I would like to get started getting it published on Wikipedia.

Hi @MaryJane Connelly, I can't comment on whether he satisfies the notability criteria, but the best course of action for you would be creating a draft of the article as explained Wikipedia:Drafts#Creating_and_editing_drafts. Then you'll get feedback from other editors regarding the notability of the topic and the draft itself. You'll also need to disclose your conflict of interest at the talk page of the draft. Hi @TechBossBabe, thanks for your kind words. I think that you're definitely on the right track. While I'm not an expert in communication standards I think it's definitely a notable topic that has been covered by reliable sources.

I think you could give more context for the lay reader: in what way is this technology different from the ones we use now? What are its main advantages compared to them?

The section TR-10 Specifications is based on primary sources, possibly it could be condensed with just one link to all the specs.

(ref link) Hey, I saw that you thanked me for feedback with an outside view. I appreciate your appreciation! I jumped in because it rubs me the wrong way to see discussion being misrepresented or inconsistent reasoning in arguments. These are actually both written as examples in the WP:CPUSH essay; They will often misrepresent others or other discussions in an attempt to incriminate or belittle others' opinions and They will use inconsistent logic across discussions, applying an argument or standard in one situation but using a contradictory one in the next discussion if it suits them. I shared your prior votes because I saw inconsistent logic from both of you, but I opposed that RfC more strongly because I saw misrepresentation of your discussion in it.

You asked me if I would like to draft replacement question/options wording myself. If you would prefer me to, I can; I have been asked to neutrally draft RfCs for others before, and I understand why you might not want to spend ~1-200 words of your own limit being neutral. That said, I have <1000 edits total, and you might prefer to ask an uninvolved admin or more experienced non-admin closer for credibility reasons. If I did draft this for you, I would likely include something like 'follow whatever precedent is set by the recent RfC' prominently as an option, and I'd encourage editors to reread the(ir) votes in that discussion before adding new votes to this one.
