Template talk:2025 Philippine general election

Creating provincial/city local election pages

I would like to call on the editors Patrick Cristiano, Borgenland, Howard the Duck, EdrianJustine, and WhiteStar2000 to create these pages using the template for the upcoming local elections. I can't complete these pages alone because there are so many provinces and cities. I have a proposal for the content to make this process easier.

Contents for provincial elections.
1. Background of the province's elections
2. Coalition ticket candidates list
3. Opinion polling (if applicable)
4. Election results (in order based on the ballot that appeared last elections)

  • House of Representatives elections
  • Gubernatorial election
    • Table of gubernatorial election results per city/municipality
  • Vice gubernatorial election
    • Table of vice gubernatorial election results per city/municipality
  • Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Council)
  • City and Municipal elections (mayoral and vice mayoral only; excluding independent cities)

Contents for city elections.
1. Background of the city's elections
2. Coalition ticket candidates list
3. Opinion polling (if applicable)
4. Election results (in order based on the ballot that appeared last elections)

  • House of Representatives elections
  • Mayoral election
    • Table of mayoral election results per geographical district (for some cases like Manila)
  • Vice mayoral election
    • Table of vice mayoral election results per geographical district (for some cases like Manila)
  • Sangguniang Panlungsod (City Council)

Please tag the other contributors to have this matter discussed. Thank you! Jfect22 (talk) 16:02, 5 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'll see if I have the time to create. But I'll add items as things go on, particularly electoral violence ones. Borgenland (talk) 16:09, 5 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose we can copy the election table articles that are already created.
As the elections are in the future, there are no tables of results to speak of. Howard the Duck (talk) 17:04, 5 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In political science, congressional elections are not exactly "local elections"; these are for a national body, as opposed to purely local offices and bodies. For article order, I'd suggest what was being used in previous articles, with LGU chief executive, vice executive, House representatives, then local council, with provincial elections also showing mayoral election results last.
Someone's making the the articles starting from Region I. I'd start from the other end, at Bangsamoro, then finish once we meet up somewhere in the Visayas or Bicol. Howard the Duck (talk) 23:37, 5 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am also planning to create some articles about the past provincial/city local elections from 2007 backwards, with available sources online and likewise will contribute to make improvements of existing provincial/city local election pages. WhiteStar2000 (talk) 23:42, 5 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Tagging Migs005, Shipping address and YssaLang as well. WhiteStar2000 (talk) 23:48, 5 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Suggestion on coalitions/tickets. I think it would be better if a candidate's coalition/ticket is integrated in the list of candidates per election rather than having a separate section for the list of coalitions/tickets and their candidates. Migs005 (talk) 00:02, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I do see that for each position in the 2025 series such as 2025 Manila local elections), there's a separate subsection for candidates. This is redundant already; you'd see the same list thrice. I'd suggest on removing those, or integrating it to the candidates section.
Also, as per MOS:COLHEAD, "Do not place column headers in the middle of a table to visually separate the table". This has been widespread practice on older articles; see 2022 Manila local elections#Candidates (non-compliant) vs. 2025 Manila local elections#Candidates (compliant). I'd suggest on having the compliant version used from the 2025 series onward), then have the non-compliant changed later on. Howard the Duck (talk) 00:18, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest that all Philippines election-related pages from 2025 backwards must use the Template:Election results format. WhiteStar2000 (talk) 03:09, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's the plan; the national elections (president, vice president, Senate, national House results and party-list already use this), but the local election ones from 2022 series and before those do not.
I'd just suggest for multi-seat winners elected in districts, we do not need a per district total as seen in 2022 Quezon City local elections#1st District_2, just an LGU-wide total like the national House results. Howard the Duck (talk) 23:28, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I was about to start at 2025 Philippine local elections in the Negros Island Region (it's the last region on the navbox LOL), but we'd have to settle first if we'd list the candidates per position, or present them as tickets at the beginning of the article. We can't have both as it'll be redundant. Howard the Duck (talk) 23:32, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
