Sanka Dineth Maneesha De Silva (Sinhala: සංඛ දිනෙත්: born 12 November 1986), popularly known as Sanka Dineth, is a Sri Lankan musician, composer and songwriter.[2][3][4] Personal lifeDe Silva was born on 12 November 1986 in Kalutara, Sri Lanka.[5][6] He completed education from Tissa Central College, Kalutara and Sri Sumangala College, Panadura.[2] During school life, he joined the school's western band and played guitar, piano, violin and the flute.[7] He is married to his longtime partner Teena Ruvini Fernando and the couple have 2 sons including Yugan.[8][9] He first saw Teena in a birthday party in August 2007.[10][11] Music careerDe Silva completed a diploma in vocal classic from Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya and later completed a master's degree according to a scholarship received from AIPAC University about business management.[2] He also studied online at Seoul University.[12][13] In 2006, he was participated in the reality music competition Sirasa Superstar, but failed to qualify in final 48 and only get to the last 100.[14] But in 2008, he contested in the second season of Superstar, where he finished the competition in the sixth place out of 51,000 contestants.[7] With that popularity,[15] He appeared in several commercial advertisements such as Lankabell, Elephant Cream Soda and Maliban Biscuits. Meanwhile, he collaborated in the song Maha Merak Tharam along with fellow Superstar 12 finalists. In the same year, he released the first music video Hitha Laga Oba Kendiru Katha, which gained more popularity.[16] On 20th of August 2009, he launched the music album Sankranthi in a ceremony held at Football House Auditorium.[2] Then he launched the album U in collaboration with Thushara Kodikara.[7] As a music director, he composed music for the 2010 film Nino Live and then in 2012 film Colour.[7] In 2012, he participated as one of the judges for the music program "Poddanta Puluwan". Apart from that, he also composed weekend theme plays on Sirasa and Neth radio stations programs. De Silva along with fellow Superstar contestants Gayani Madhusha and Udesh Nilanga held the song concert of "Nethu Maanaye" on 28 April 2012 at Battaramulla Folk Art Centre.[16] In 2014, he compiled the Applied Music Syllabus for National Youth Council.[4] In 2016, he staged "Sanka Dineth Live In Concert With 28 Voices" on January 16th at 6.30 pm at Maharagama Youth Service Council.[17][18] De Silva is the music director of the Commonwealth Youth Conference and also created the song presented by Sri Lanka Youth for the World Youth Conference held in Sri Lanka. He worked as a speech training lecturer at the National Youth Service Council for few years.[19] In 2017, he released the music video for the song Ra Sihine Ma, which was shot for two days around Galle nearly thirty five hours on two days.[20] Apart from solo concerts, he also performed in the concerts collaborated with Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigaam,[21][12] Aditya Narayan[22][23][24] and Shaan.[25] In 2016, he won the award for the Best Music Video Award for year 2015 at Derana Music Video Awards ceremony for his song Rosa Kalpana.[26] In 2022 he song, Sithin Yana Aya with renowned singer Victor Rathnayake.[27][28] In that year, he involved as a judge in the second season of Sirasa The Voice Teens competition.[4] In 2023, he launched an EP album with 4 songs.
