A 21-gun salute at the Lapau followed by court musicians performing on traditional musical instruments marked the start of the Gendang Jaga-Jaga. The Menerima Tanda Diraja then took place on the 12th.[3]

The Menerima Pertunangan Diraja then got under way on the afternoon of the 13th. The Berbedak Ceremony took place the next day, and on the 15th at Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Akad Nikah united the bride and husband. After several days of rituals, the Bersanding was performed on the 18th in front of the Royal family and 5,000 visitors from both domestic and foreign countries in the Throne Hall of the Istana Nurul Iman.[3]
