Kaznějov
Kaznějov is a town in Plzeň-North District in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 3,100 inhabitants. EtymologyThe name was derived from the personal name Kazněj (a variant of the name Kazimír), meaning "Kazněj's (court)".[2] GeographyKaznějov is located about 14 kilometres (9 mi) north of Plzeň. It lies in the Plasy Uplands. The highest point is the Berdovna hill at 513 m (1,683 ft) above sea level. The brook of Kaznějovský potok flows through the town. HistoryThe first written mention of Kaznějov is from 1145, after the monastery in Plasy was founded. EconomyIn the woods of Kaznějov is the largest kaolinite quarry in Central Europe with a production of 320,000 tonnes per year.[7] TransportKaznějov is located on the railway line from Plzeň to Most.[8] SightsThere are no significant monuments in the town.
