Dance Collection
Dance Collection (Chinese: 電音舞道館) is a remix album by Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai, released by Universal and D Sound on April 2, 2002.[1] The album features remixed versions of 12 tracks from Tsai's time with Universal.[2] Background and releaseIn March 1999, Tsai signed with Universal.[3] During her time with the label, she released four studio albums: 1019 (1999),[4] Don't Stop (2000),[5] Show Your Love (2001),[6] and Lucky Number (2001).[7] These albums achieved commercial success in Taiwan, with sales exceeding 450,000 copies for 1019,[8] 500,000 for Don't Stop,[9] 260,000 for Show Your Love,[10] and 150,000 for Lucky Number.[11] On November 6, 2001, Universal released Together, a compilation album featuring her major songs from her time with the label.[12] On April 2, 2002, Universal released Dance Collection, a remix album by Tsai.[1] The album was made available in two versions: a standard edition and a limited edition, with the latter offered in two different packaging colors, each limited to 10,000 copies.[2] Additionally, Universal released a single from the album, "Show Your Love / Fall in Love with a Street / You Gotta Know".[13] Critical receptionTencent Entertainment's Shu Wa commented: "This electronic remix compilation album is essentially a reworking of some of Jolin Tsai's well-known tracks from her time with Universal. The remixes are a way to satisfy fans' expectations following a two-year hiatus due to contract disputes, but the approach feels like a mere rehash. Unfortunately, the popularity of Tsai's up-tempo tracks from her Universal period was not as high as those from her later years with Sony and Gold Typhoon, and there are fewer of them. As a result, in addition to several prominent up-tempo singles, the album also features remixes of slower, more sentimental ballads awkwardly transformed into dance tracks."[1] Track listing
