Alan Frei
Alan Frei (born 27 March 1982)[1] is a Filipino-Swiss entrepreneur, economist and curler. LifeAlan Frei studied Finance and Sinology at the University of Zurich (UZH) and at the University in Nanjing, China.[2] He founded several companies,[3] including Nachilfeportal.de. In 2014, he co-founded Amorana, of which he sold a majority stake to the Lovehoney Group in 2020.[4][5] He founded the start-up Center at the University of Zurich.[3] Post-Amorana, Frei founded the Alan Frei Company.[6] The business focuses on creating content and products for a life hacker community. Additionally, he works part-time as a freelance Uber Eats driver.[7] Frei hosts a podcast and YouTube channel. He holds Swiss and Filipino citizenship.[1] MinimalismInfluenced by minimalists like Andrew Hyde and Nicolas Berggruen, Alan Frei began to simplify his life in 2014. He reduced his possessions to 70 items[8] and, by October 2020, had decided to give up his apartment, staying in hotels instead.[9] As of 2022, Frei has ended this practice. CurlingAlan Frei began curling at age 41 in 2023 as part of a "weight loss journey", aiming to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics.[10] He is part of the Curling Winter Sports Association of the Philippines (CWSAP), which joined the World Curling Federation on September 15, 2023.[11] Frei trains with former Swiss professional curler Marcel Käufeler and teammates Marc Pfister, Enrico Pfister, and Christian Haller.[12] Their first tournament was the 2023 Pan Continental Curling Championships (PCCC), held from October 29 to November 4 in Kelowna, British Columbia.
