Daftar buku klasik anak-anak
Berikut ini adalah daftar buku-buku klasik untuk anak-anak yang diterbitkan sebelum tahun 1985 dan masih tersedia dalam bahasa inggris.
Buku-buku khusus untuk anak-anak sudah ada sejak abad ke-17. Sebelum itu, buku-buku ditulis terutama untuk orang dewasa – meskipun beberapa buku kemudian menjadi populer di kalangan anak-anak. Di Eropa, penemuan mesin cetak Gutenberg sekitar tahun 1440 memungkinkan produksi massal buku, meskipun buku-buku yang pertama dicetak harganya cukup mahal. Secara bertahap, bagaimanapun, perbaikan dalam teknologi pencetakan menurunkan biaya penerbitan dan membuat buku yang lebih terjangkau untuk kelas pekerja, yang juga cenderung untuk membeli jenis-jenis literatur yang lebih murah, seperti broadsides, chapbooks, pamflet, brosur, dan awal di koran, semua yang banyak tersedia sebelum tahun 1800.
