最早於2010年由發現者Eric Karl Lund在論文中命名为Nasutuceratops titusi,[3]但當時是個無資格名稱。後來於2013年Scott D. Sampson、Lund、Mark A. Loewen、Andrew A. Farke以及Katherine E. Clayton才將其正式命名,將屬名修正為Nasutoceratops。模式種是提氏大鼻角龍(N. titusi)。屬名由拉丁語的nasutus(意為「大鼻子」)以及古希臘語的ceratops(「有角的臉」)組成,種名紀念猶他大學修復大鼻角龍化石的Alan L. Titus。[4]
