Falco tinnunculus alexandri

เหยี่ยวเคสเตรล (Common Kestrel, European Kestrel, Eurasian Kestrel หรือ Old World Kestrel) เป็นนกล่าเหยื่อในวงศ์เหยี่ยวปีกแหลม ในบริเตนนั้นไม่มีเหยี่ยวสีน้ำตาลชนิดอื่น มันถึงถูกเรียกว่า "kestrel"[1]

เหยี่ยวเคสเตรลมีการกระจายพันธุ์กว้าง ทั้งในยุโรป, เอเชีย, และ แอฟริกา แม้ว่าจะมีการตั้งถิ่นฐานของนกบนเกาะในมหาสมุทรสองสามเกาะ แต่การพบนกอพยพหลงนั้นยากมากในไมโครนีเซีย มีบันทึกเพียงสองครั้งในกวมและเกาะไซปัน[2]

ลักษณะ

ตัวผู้หัวเทา หนังรอบตาและหนังคลมจมูกเหลือง แถบหนวดข้างแก้มดำ ลำตัวด้านบนน้ำตาลแดงมีลายจุดจากปลายขนดำ ตะโพกและหางเทาปลายดำ ขอบหางขาว ลำตัวด้านล่างน้ำตาลอ่อนแกมขาวมีลายจุดสีเข้ม ขณะบินด้านบนเห็นขนปลายปีกดำ ปีกด้านล่างขาวแกมน้ำตาลมีลายดำที่ขนคลุมใต้ปีก ตัวเมียหัวและลำตัวด้านล่างน้ำตาลแดงมีลายขีดดำชัดเจนกว่า หางน้ำตาลแดงมีลายบั้งเล็กๆ ปลายดำกว้างปลายสุดขาว ท้องและก้นค่อนข้างขาว นกวัยอ่อนคล้ายตัวเมียแต่ลายขีดและจุดชัดเจนกว่า ลำตัวด้านบนแกมน้ำตาลมากกว่า ร้องดัง "คลี-คลี-คลี"[3]
