ทังกา, ทางกา หรือ ธง (อักษรโรมัน: thangka, thanka, tangka, tanka; เสียงอ่านภาษาเนปาล: [ˈt̪ʰaŋka]; ทิเบต: ཐང་ཀ་; เนปาล: पौभा) เป็นคำเรียกจิตรกรรมพุทธทิเบตที่ทำลงบนผ้าฝ้าย ผ้าไหม หรือ ผ้าเย็บประดับ โดยทั่วไปแสดงภาพทางพระพุทธศาสนาหรือภาพมณฑล โดยธรรมเนียมแล้วเก็บรักษาโดยการม้วนเก็บหากไม่ได้นำมาจัดแสดง ทังกามักใช้ในการประกอบพิธีหรือทำสมาธิ และทังกามีส่วนสำคัญมากต่อการใช้เพื่อสอนพุทธประวัติ, ชีวประวัติของลามะองค์สำคัญ, เทพเจ้า และพระโพธิสัตว์ หนึ่งในประเด็นที่นำมาเขียนภาพทังกาคือ ภาวจักร ซึ่งแทนคำสอนอภิธรรม ในปัจจุบันมีการผลิตทังกาจำนวนมากเพื่อใช้ประโยชน์ในทางการค้าขายและประดับตกแต่ง

ทังกาน่าจะพัฒนาขึ้นมาพร้อมกับจิตรกรรมฝาผนังในวัดทิเบต ซึ่งมีแนวโน้มที่จะอยู่รอดเป็นระยะเวลานานมากกว่า[1] งานเขียนทิเบตบนผ้าที่เก่าแก่ที่สุดที่ค้นพบอยู่ที่ถ้ำโม่กาวในตุนหวง ในถ้ำที่เรียกว่า "ถ้ำพระสมุด" (Library Cave) เขียนด้วยรูปแบบศิลปะอย่างทิเบต บางส่วนมีอิทธิพลอย่างอินเดียปรากฏ และเป็นลักษณะที่ไม่ใช่แบบจีนฮั่น[2] ถึงแม้จะไม่ทราบอายุชัดเจน แต่มีการปะมาณอายุชิ้นงานอยู่ที่ราว ค.ศ. 781–848 ตรงกับสมัยราชวงศ์ถัง[3]

ทังกาบางชิ้นมีจารึกเขียนอยู่ด้านหลัง ระบุว่าเป็นภาพสำหรับทำสมาธิส่วนตัว (thugs dam; ทุกส์ดาม) ของพระเถระรูปสำคัญ[4] ผู้สร้างสรรค์ทังกาส่วนใหญ่น่าจะเป็นพระสงฆ์ แต่ก็มีพบศิลปินที่เป็นฆราวาสเช่นกัน ตามธรรมเนียมแล้ว ผู้จ้างวานให้สร้างทังกาจะไม่จ่ายค่าจ้าง แต่จะตอบแทนด้วยลักษณะของ "ของขวัญ" มากกว่า[5] ทังกา หรือ ธง แปลว่า "สิ่งที่สามารถม้วนออกมาได้" ใน ภาษาทิเบตแบบคลาสสิก[6] ทังกาส่วนใหญ่มีมีลงชื่อผู้สร้าง และงานส่วนใหญ่ไม่เป็นที่ทราบว่าเป็นผลงานของใคร ในวงการสงฆ์ถือว่าการวาดทังกาเป็นความสำเร็จที่สำคัญสำหรับพระสงฆ์รูปหนึ่ง ๆ[7]
