Výzva k podávání připomínek k volbám do správní rady je nyní otevřenaVýzva ke zpětné vazbě: Volby do správní rady jsou nyní otevřeny a budou ukončeny 7. února 2022. Tým pro strategii a řízení hnutí se v této výzvě ke zpětné vazbě snaží o jiný přístup. Tento přístup zahrnuje zpětnou vazbu od komunity z roku 2021. Místo toho, aby výzva začínala návrhy, je formulována na základě klíčových otázek, formulovaných Správní radou. Ty vzešly ze zpětné vazby k volbám do Správní rady v roce 2021. Záměrem je podnítit o těchto klíčových otázkách společnou konverzaci a na jejich základě společnou tvorbu návrhů. The Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) provides a baseline of acceptable behavior for the entire movement. The UCoC and the Enforcement Guidelines were written by volunteer-staff drafting committees following community consultations. The revised guidelines were published 24 January 2022 as a proposed way to apply the policy across the movement. There is a list of changes made to the guidelines after the enforcement draft guidelines review. Comments about the guidelines can be shared on the Enforcement Guidelines talk page on Meta-wiki. To help to understand the guidelines and process, the Movement Strategy and Governance (MSG) team will be hosting Conversation Hours on 4 February 2022 at 15:00 UTC, 25 February 2022 at 12:00 UTC, and 4 March 2022 at 15:00 UTC. Join the conversation hours to speak with the UCoC project team and drafting committee members about the updated guidelines and voting process. The timeline is available on Meta-wiki. The voting period is March 7 to 21. All eligible voters will have an opportunity to support or oppose the adoption of the Enforcement guidelines, and share why. Nižšie uvádzam rozpis aktivít, ktoré začalo vyvíjať wikimedické hnutie a kde veľmi privítam účasť našej wikipedickej komunity.
Wikiprojekt Vojna na Ukrajine bol založený po vzore wikiprojektu o covide, pričom i na koordináciu práce na článkoch o aktuálne prebiehajúcej invázii a s tým súvisiacich témach. Cieľom je samozrejme pridávať aktuálne encyklopedické informácie založené na spoľahlivých zdrojoch a podávané z nestranného uhla pohľadu. Myslím, že vzhľadom na prebiehajúce dezinformačné kampane a na „vojnovú hmlu“ je to nanajvýš potrebný a šľachetný cieľ. V prípade záujmu je možné redaktorom zúčastneným na tomto projekte vybaviť bezplatný prístup k obsahu slovenských médií, za ktorý je za iných okolností potrebné platiť. (Zároveň upozorňujem na projekt The Wikipedia Library, prostredníctvom ktorého možno bezplatne získať prístup k množstvu kvalitných databáz a zdrojov, napr. aj k renomovanému časopisu o medzinárodnej politike Foreign Affairs.)
Naďalej prebieha súťaž v písaní článkov a prispievaní do Wikidát Ukrajinský mesiac kultúrnej diplomacie 2022 (stránka na Meta-Wiki). Súťaž organizujú naši kolegovia z Wikimedie Ukrajina. Odporúčam zapojiť sa, hoc len symbolicky.
Naprieč wikimedickým hnutím prebieha iniciatíva záchrany ukrajinského kultúrneho dedičstva v online priestore, ktorá si kladie za cieľ zhromaždiť dáta a multimediálny obsah týkajúci sa ukrajinských pamiatok a iných artefaktov kultúrneho dedičstva (bohužiaľ o viaceré z hmotných pamiatok sme už vo vojne prišli). V tomto projekte sa uplatnia aj redaktori so širším technickým zázemím (napr. kvôli web scrappingu).
Okrem Ukrajincov sú v ohrození aj členovia ruskej wikimedickej komunity. Na nich síce nedopadajú bomby, no silne opresívny režim im čoraz viac znemožňuje objektívne písať o vojne a s tým súvisiacim dianím. Preto sa ku mne dostala výzva, aby sa ľudia so znalosťou ruštiny podieľali na písaní článkov na ruskej Wikipédii, pretože našim ruským kolegom za takéto niečo môže hroziť dokonca až trestný postih. (Ruskú Wikipédiu zatiaľ režim nezakázal, tak dúfajme, že tomu tak ostane aj naďalej.)--Lišiak(diskusia) 21:35, 9. marec 2022 (UTC) K wikiprojektu „Vojna na Ukrajine“. Veľmi krátky časový odstup, absencia akademických zdrojov a skutočnosť, že prvou obeťou vo vojne je pravda, mi zabraňujú veriť, že je tento projekt dobrý nápad. The idea of the Election Volunteer Program came up during the 2021 Wikimedia Board of Trustees Election. This program turned out to be successful. With the help of Election Volunteers we were able to increase outreach and participation in the election by 1,753 voters over 2017. Overall turnout was 10.13%, 1.1 percentage points more, and 214 wikis were represented in the election. Report on Voter Feedback from Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) Enforcement Guidelines RatificationHello all, The Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) project team has completed the analysis of the feedback accompanying the ratification vote on the Universal Code of Conduct Enforcement Guidelines. Following the completion of the UCoC Enforcement Guidelines Draft in 2022, the guidelines were voted on by the Wikimedian community. Voters cast votes from 137 communities, with the top 9 communities being: English, German, French, Russian, Polish, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Italian Wikipedias, and Meta-wiki. Those voting had the opportunity to provide comments on the contents of the Draft document. 658 participants left comments. 77% of the comments are written in English. Voters wrote comments in 24 languages with the largest numbers in English (508), German (34), Japanese (28), French (25), and Russian (12). A report will be sent to the Revision Drafting Committee who will refine the enforcement guidelines based on the community feedback received from the recently concluded vote. A public version of the report is published on Meta-wiki here. The report is available in translated versions on Meta-wiki. Novinky – vylepšení pro desktopDobrý den. Rád bych vám předal nové informace o projektu vylepšeních pro desktop, na kterém nadace Wikimedia pracuje posledních několik let. Naše práce je téměř u konce! 🎉 Rádi bychom, aby se tyto vylepšení nasadila jako výchozí rozhraní pro čtenáře i editory na všech projektech. V nejbližších týdnech zahájíme na toto téma diskusi na více projektech, včetně toho vašeho. 🗓️ Rádi si přečteme vaši návrhy! Cílem projektu je zajistit, aby rozhraní bylo pro čtenáře srozumitelnější, ale aby bylo i tak užitečné pro pokročilé uživatele. Projekt se skládá z několika vylepšení, které mimo jiné usnadňují čtení článku, navigaci uvnitř článku, vyhledávání dalších článků, přepínání mezi jednotlivými verzemi, používání záložek a uživatelského menu. Vylepšení jsou již nasazena jako výchozí na více než 30 projektech, včetně francouzské, portugalské a perské Wikipedie. Změny se týkají pouze vzhledu Vector. Pokud používáte Monobook nebo Timeless, změny se vás netýkají.

Za mňa teda, moc som nepochopil správanie na úzkych viewportoch – po zúžení pod nejakú hranicu (~700px) sa v novom skine samotný text článku zobrazí odsomrený až niekde hlboko pod obrovskou navigačnou sekciou, zaberajúcou v tom stave viac než celú jednu obrazovku. Čakal by som asi skôr niečo v duchu, že sa pri nedostatku šírky navigácia zbalí do nejakého rozbalovacieho menu a po príchode uvidím normálne začiatok článku (na druhej strane väčšina bežných návšetvníkov s tak úzkym VP zrejme pôjde cez mobilný režim, kam ich na mobiloch/tabletoch normálne naviguje aj Google). Nie je to pritom zrejme anomália v dôsledku kolízie s nejakým starým štýlovaním na tejto wiki, rovnako sa správa trebárs aj frwiki, kde je skin už nasadený. An Election Compass is a tool to help voters select the candidates that best align with their beliefs and views. I'm writing on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation Web team. In two weeks, we would like to make the Vector 2022 skin the default on this wiki. We have been working on it for the past three years. So far, it has been the default on more than 30 wikis, including sister projects, all accounting for more than 1 billion pageviews per month. On average 87% of active logged-in users of those wikis use Vector 2022. It would become the default for all logged-out users, and also all logged-in users who currently use Vector legacy. Logged-in users can at any time switch to any other skins. No changes are expected for users of these skins.
About the skin[Why is a change necessary] The current default skin meets the needs of the readers and editors as these were 13 years ago. Since then, new users have begun using Wikimedia projects. The old Vector doesn't meet their needs. [Objective] The objective for the new skin is to make the interface more welcoming and comfortable for readers and useful for advanced users. It draws inspiration from previous requests, the Community Wishlist Surveys, and gadgets and scripts. The work helped our code follow the standards and improve all other skins. We reduced PHP code in Wikimedia deployed skins by 75%. The project has also focused on making it easier to support gadgets and use APIs. [Changes and test results] The skin introduces a series of changes that improve readability and usability. The new skin does not remove any functionality currently available on the Vector skin.

About the Ombuds commission The Ombuds commission (OC) works on all Wikimedia projects to investigate complaints about violations of the privacy policy, especially in use of CheckUser and Oversight (also known as Suppression) tools. The Commission mediates between the parties of the investigation and, when violations of the policies are identified, advises the Wikimedia Foundation on best handling. They may also assist the General Counsel, the Chief Executive Officer, or the Board of Trustees of the Foundation in these investigations when legally necessary. For more on the OC's duties and roles, see Ombuds commission on Meta-Wiki. Volunteers serving in this role should be experienced Wikimedians, active on any project, who have previously used the CheckUser/Oversight tools OR who have the technical ability to understand these tools and the willingness to learn them. They are expected to be able to engage neutrally in investigating these concerns and to know when to recuse when other roles and relationships may cause conflict. People from across the Movement shared their feedback and thoughts on the content of the Movement Charter. If you have not had the chance to share your opinion yet, you are welcome to do so still by giving the drafts a read and filling out the anonymous survey, which is accessible in 12+ languages. The survey will close on January 2, 2023. You are invited to continue to share your thoughts with the MCDC via email too: movementcharter@wikimedia.org. What’s next? The Movement Strategy and Governance team will publish the final report with the summary of the feedback received in January 2023. It will be shared with the MCDC and the communities via different distribution channels. After receiving the final report, the MCDC will review the suggestions and communicate the changes by providing an explanation on how and why suggestions were or were not adopted in the next versions of the drafts. There will be additional ways to engage with the Movement Charter content in 2023, including early feedback on a proposed ratification process and new drafts of different chapters in the second quarter of 2023. We invite you to sign-up to the MCDC monthly newsletter, it will be delivered to the Talk page of your choice. Monthly updates are available on Meta to remain updated on the progress of the MCDC. Interested people can still sign-up to become a Movement Charter Ambassador (MC Ambassador) to support their community. The MC Ambassadors Program grant program will restart accepting applications from both individuals and groups ahead of the next round of consultations in the second quarter of 2023. Feminism and Folklore 2023 Dear Wiki Community, Christmas Greetings and a Happy New Year 2023, You are humbly invited to organize the Feminism and Folklore 2023 writing competition from February 1, 2023, to March 31, 2023 on your local Wikipedia. This year, Feminism and Folklore will focus on feminism, women's issues, and gender-focused topics for the project, with a Wiki Loves Folklore gender gap focus and a folk culture theme on Wikipedia. You can help Wikipedia's coverage of folklore from your area by writing or improving articles about things like folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, women and queer folklore figures, folk game athletes, women in mythology, women warriors in folklore, witches and witch hunting, fairy tales, and more. Users can help create new articles, expand or translate from a list of suggested articles. Organisers are requested to work on the following action items to sign up their communities for the project:
