සමාජ සමානාත්මතාව සහ සමානාත්මතාවාදය ප්‍රවර්ධනය කරන දේශපාලනික මතවාද වාමාංශික දේශපාලනයට අයත් වේ. එවැනි දෘෂ්ටිවාද වල ප්‍රධාන ලක්ෂණයක් වන්නේ ඇතැම් සමාජ ධූරාවලි හෝ සියලුම සමාජ ධූරාවලි^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4] ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කිරීමයි.^[5] සමාජයේ අසාධාරණ අසමානකම් ඇති බවත්,^[1] ඒවා නැති කිරීම හෝ අඩු කිරීම පිණිස එම අසාධාරණකම් සඳහා වගකිවයුතු සමාජයේ ස්වභාවය වෙනස් කිරීම සඳහා රැඩිකල් ක්‍රියාමාර්ග ගත යුතු බව වාමාංශික දේශපාලනයෙහි විශ්වාස කෙරේ.^[5] විශ්‍රාමලත් ආර්ථික විද්‍යාව පිළිබඳ මහාචාර්ය බැරී ක්ලාක්ට අනුව වාමාංශිකයන් ප්‍රකාශ කරනුයේ "මානව සංවර්ධනය වැඩි දියුණු වන්නේ පුද්ගලයන් සහයෝගීව, එකිනෙකා කෙරෙහි ගෞරවය සහිත සබඳතා පැවැත්වීමෙන්" බවත් "එය උදා කරගත හැක්කේ එක් එක් පුද්ගලයා සතු තරාතිරම්, බලය සහ ධනය අතර ඇති වෙනස්කම් නැති කර දැමිමෙන්" බවයි.^[6]

වම්–දකුණු දේශපාලන ප්‍රේක්ෂාවලියෙහි, වම සහ දකුණ යන යෙදුම් නිර්මාණය වූයේ ප්‍රංශ විප්ලවය අතරතුරදී ප්‍රංශ ජාතික සභාවේ සභිකයන් ආසන ගත් ආකාරය අනුවයි. වම් පස අසුන් ගත් සභිකයන් ප්‍රංශ රාජාණ්ඩුවට සහ බර්බන් රාජවංශයට විරුද්ධ වූ අතර විප්ලවයට සහය දැක්වූහ. ඔවුන් ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී ජනරජයක් බිහිකිරීමටත්, සමාජය ඓහීකරණය කිරීමටත් සහය දැක්වූහ.^[7] දකුණු පස අසුන් ගත් සභිකයන් රාජාණ්ඩුවට සහ සාම්ප්‍රදායික සංස්ථාවන්ට සහාය දැක්වූහ.
