Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) mendeskripsikan strategi pembelajaran guru fisika, (2) mendeskripsikan keterampilan metakognitif siswa dalam pembelajaran fisika, (3) mendeskripsikan motivasi belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran fisika, serta (4) mendeskripsikan relevansi strategi pembelajaran guru fisika dalam pengembangan keterampilaaan metakognitif dan motivasi belajar siswa. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif. Sumber data penelitian dipilih secara purposive sampling yang terdiri dari dua orang guru fisika, sembilan orang siswa kelas X MIPA 2 dan XI MIPA 5 di SMA Negeri 2 Singaraja, serta wakasek kurikulum. Data strategi pembelajaran diperoleh melalui metode observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi sedangkan data keterampilan metakognitif dan motivasi belajar siswa dikumpulkan dengan metode wawancara, dokumentasi, dan ditriangulasi dengan kuesioner. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada semester genap Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017. Analisis data penelitian meliputi beberapa tahap, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) strategi pembelajaran guru fisika adalah strategi pembelajaran ekspositori, (2) siswa memiliki kualitas keterampilan metakognitif yang bervariasi pada setiap aspek, (3) siswa memiliki kualitas motivasi belajar yang bervariasi dalam setiap aspek, dan (4) relevansi strategi pembelajaran guru fisika dalam pengembangan keterampilan metakognitif dan motivasi belajar pada siswa terlihat pada perencanaan pembelajaran, pelaksanaan, penilaian pembelajaran.Kata Kunci : keterampilan metakognitif, motivasi belajar, strategi pembelajaran This research aimed at (1) describing the learning strategy of physics teacher, (2) describing the students’ metacognitive skills on physics learning, (3) describing students’ motivation physics learning, and (4) describing the relevancy of a physics teacher’s learning strategy in fostering the metacognitive skills and motivation of the students. This research was a qualitative research. The sources of data were two physics teacher and eighteen students at grade X IPA 2 and XI MIPA 5 in SMA Negeri 2 Singaraja who were respectively selected by purposive sampling technique. The learning strategy was compiled by using observations and interviews, while the data of students’ metacognitive skills and motivation of the students were compiled by using interviews, and questionnaires as triangulation methods. This study was held in the second semester of Academic Year 2016/2017. The data analysis was done through data reduction, data display, and data verification. The result of the study shows that (1) the teacher tends to implement the expository learning, (2) the students tend to have medium category of metacognitive skills which vary at every aspect, (3) the students tend to have medium category of motivation which vary at every aspect, and (4) the relevancy of physics teacher’s learning strategy in fostering the metacognitive skills and motivation of the students are seen on lesson plan, learning process and evaluation.keyword : learning strategy, metacognitive skills, leaning motivation
