ホセイン・ナスル(ペルシア語: سید حسین نصر、[ˈnɑːsər, ˈnæsər]、1933年4月7日 - ) はイランのイスラーム哲学者。ジョージタウン大学でイスラーム学の名誉教授を務める[3]。

ナスルは、哲学、宗教、霊性、音楽、芸術、建築、科学、文学、文明対話、そして自然環境などなどについて主題にしている。 彼はまた詩に関しても2冊の本（Posems of the way, The Pilgrimage of Life and the Wisdom of Rumi ）を書き、「 博学者 」として語られている[4]。

出自

ナスルは、1933年にテヘラン南部中央部で、ペルシャ王家の医師であり、イランの近代教育の創始者の一人であるSeyyed Valiallahの息子として生まれた。 まだ原稿の形で残っている多くのエッセイとそのうちのいくつかはDanish wa Akhlaq （「知識と倫理」）と呼ばれる本にまとめられている[5]。親はもともとカーシャーンの由来がある。 彼はアメリカの学者Vali Nasrの父である。

教育

テヘランのFiruz Bahram高校[6]で学習し、13歳で米国に渡った。

MITが提供していた物理学の奨学金により、彼はその大学に通う最初のイラン人の大学生となった[7]。そここで、彼は形而上学や哲学などの様々な他の部門においてジョルジョ・デ・サンティリャーナと他の人の下で研究を始めた。 彼の研究の間に伝統主義の権威者Frithjof Schuonに傾倒していった。 この学校は、それ以来ナセルの後の人生と哲学を形作っていった。 ナセルは50年以上にわたってFrithjof Schuonの弟子であり、彼の哲学は教義と多年生哲学の視点に基づいている。

MITで物理の学位を1954年に取得した後に、1956年には地質学と地質物理学の学位を取得した。それから、科学史の博士号取得のために、ハーバード大学へと進学した。

25歳の時ナスルは、ハーバード大学から博士号を取得して卒業し、彼の最初の本 Science and Civilization in Islam(「イスラムにおける科学と文明」)を著した[8]。「イスラム思想における自然の概念」と題された彼の博士論文は、1964年にハーバード大学出版局によって「 イスラムの宇宙論的教義 」として出版された。

アラビア語を習得すること以外に、複数の言語を幼少期から習得した。フランス語、古代ギリシア語、ラテン語、イタリア語、スペイン語とドイツ語を使用することができる[9]。

イランに戻る

ナセルは、ハーバード大学博士課程在学中の1955年に教師としてのキャリアを始めた。30歳になる前には教授に昇格した。

ハーバード大学でのキャリアの後には、イランへと戻り、テヘラン大学と、後のシャーリフ工科大学になるアーリヤ・メフル大学に職を得て、1972年には学長を務めた。

ナセルはイスラーム哲学をMuhammad Husayn Tabataba'i, Allameh Sayyed Abul Hasan Rafiee Qazvini などから学んだ。

ナセルはイラン皇后Farah Pahlaviの個人秘書に任命された[10] 1974年に皇后は伝統主義者の原則に従って行われるべき最初の学術機関であるイラン王立哲学アカデミー（現在はイラン哲学研究所 ）を設立し彼にその指導を命じた[10]。 その間、ナセル、タバタバイ、 William Chittick、Kenneth Morgan、Sachiko Murata、 井筒俊彦 、およびアンリ・コルバンなどと共に哲学的言説を建設した。

アメリカに戻る

2002年のナスル

ナセルはアメリカに戻ると、テンプル大学、エディンバラ大学で教鞭をとり、1984年以来ジョージ・ワシントン大学に在籍しており、現在はフルタイムのイスラム研究の教授である。

ナセルは、プリンストン大学、ユタ大学、南カリフォルニア大学などのいくつかの大学で、イスラムおよびイラン研究のプログラムの計画と拡大を支援した。

彼はPBSにおける番組、「ムハンマド：預言者の遺産」 Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet (2002),の学術アドバイザーをも務めた[11]。
