ピーター・ジェームズ・デニング（Peter James Denning, 1942年1月6日 - ）は、高名なアメリカ合衆国の計算機科学者である。彼は、プログラム挙動のワーキングセットモデル（OSのスラッシング解消アルゴリズムで、すべてのメモリーを管理するポリシーの参照標準となった）を考案した事でもっとも有名である。また、彼の業績はオペレーティングの原理、待ち行列ネットワークシステム運用の分析、CSNETの設計と実装、ACMデジタル辞書、コンピューティングの基礎原理の文典化などが知られている。

デニングは数多くの著書を手がけている。彼が著者または編者を勤めた本は7冊、また技術論文に関しては320を数える。2021年コンピュータパイオニア賞受賞。
