ケイト・ボールドウィン（Kate Baldwin、1975年5月2日 - ）は、主にミュージカルで活動しているアメリカ合衆国の女優、歌手である[1]。

経歴

イリノイ州のエヴァンストンで生まれ、1993年にショアウッド・ハイ・スクールを、1997年にノースウェスタン大学を卒業した[2]。

ノースウェスタンでの4年間で17のステージに出演して、今の世代での多才なパフォーマーの1人になる助力をした、マリー・ミチューダに声楽を学んでいた[3]。

最終学年の3月に、イリノイ州リンカーンシャーにあるマリオット・リンカーンシャー・シアターでの『Baby』上演のオーディションを受けて、自分の役を取得した。ニュー・ヨークで活躍する前はシカゴに滞在して　マリオット・リンカーンシャー・シアターでいくつかの公演に出演していた[3]。

ボールドウィンは2000年に、オリジナル製作の『フル・モンティ』でのスウィング役でブロードウェイにデビューした[4]。

ボールドウィンは、1つの役で長い間とどまっていないので、ブロードウェイとオフ・ブロードウェイに限らず、地方のシアターに出演を続けてきた。その中で注目を集めたのは、"Helen Hayes Award"にノミネートされた、2002年アリーナ・ステージでの公演、『南太平洋』のネリー・フォーブッシュ役だった[6]。

2009年、"New York City Center Encores!"シリーズのコンサートに、『フィニアンの虹』のシャロン役で出演した。批評家のチャールズ・イシャーウッドは、ボールドウィンを「発見」として、その歌声を賞賛した。「美しくて、豊かで純粋なソプラノは、安定したメロディーに乗せて上昇します。」と書いている[7]。このプロダクションは2009年10月にブロードウェイ・リヴァイヴァルとしてセント・ジェームズ・シアターに場所を移して上演された。ボールドウィンは再び賞賛されて、トニー賞のミュージカル主演女優賞にノミネートされた[8][9]。

2010年、ウエスト・エンドのMenier Chocolate Factoryで上演された、ハロルド・プリンスとスーザン・ストローマンの製作、監督によるミュージカル、『Paradise Found』にボールドウィンがキャスティングされて出演した[10]。テレグラフ紙のレヴューでは、「ベスト・パフォーマンスはケイト・ボールドウィンからのもので、ミズィーとして感激的で多分に豪華に見える。」と評価されている[11]。

現在ボールドウィンは、ブロードウェイ・リヴァイヴァル上演の『ハロー・ドーリー!』にアイリーン役で、バーナデット・ピータース、ヴィクター・ガーバー、ギャヴィン・クリールと共に出演している。この公演はShubert Theatreで、2017年4月20日から上演されている。

ボールドウィンはワシントンD.C.での『1776』の上演でマーサ・ジェファーソン役で出演し、リチャード・ヘンリー・リー役のグレアム・ローウィットと出会った。２人はショーの終了後にデートしていて、ステージでは停止するシーンが多かった。ボールドウィンとローウィットは2005年10月2日結婚し、2011年4月19日に2人の息子のコーリン・ジェームズが誕生した[21]。夫妻は『1776』の後も『Bells Are Ringing』と『リトル・ナイト・ミュージック』で、またそれら以外でも多くのショーで共演している。
