Yunan (Arabic: يونان) is an upcoming drama film directed by Ameer Fakher Eldin. The film follows an exiled Arab author, who travels to a remote island in Germany to commit suicide. There he meets an old lady who incites a reawakening of his desire for life.[1][2]
The international co-production film was selected in the Competition at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, where it will compete for the Golden Bear and have first screening on 19 February 2025 at Berlinale Palast.[3]
The film was developed in December 2021 as a part of a trilogy of Ameer Fakher Eldin's first 2021 film, The Stranger with working title as Nothing of Nothing Remains.[4]
The film written, directed and edited by Ameer Fakher Eldin, is composed by Suad Bushnaq and photographed by Ronald Plante.[5]
Principal photography began on 2 October 2023 at locations in Germany - Hamburg. Filming ended on 16 November 2023 in locations in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany and Apulia, Italy.[6]
